Thanks for being part of the community!

  • For the love of Baby Jesus whoever takes this, please get rid of the swarms of people here to solely shit on AI.

If you want to attack slop, there's plenty of manufactured artists prior to the advent of AI.

They aren't interested in that. The mods aren't truly pro AI music. They welcome people into the sub to shit on the community.

We welcome constructive opinions on either side. But there are unproductive anti-AI sentiments and brigaders and I try to ban them when I see them.

If you're here just to shit all over the community, that's unproductive. But if you're here to offer nuanced discussion on generative AI when it comes to music, you can express your opinion without attacking others or being a doomer.

Not sure why you think we wouldn't be pro-music AI. We are unpaid volunteers who moderate this community purely out of interest in the technology.

This is just an opinion but, since this is a subreddit explicitly dedicated to generative AI for music production, it doesn't at all seem like the proper venue in which to engage in the ridiculousness of the anti / pro AI debate.

There is, however, a dedicated venue for this: r/aiwars. That is not us. We are r/SunoAI and our stance is obvious by way of affiliation.

Again, just an opinion, but I adamantly believe that if conflict is to be avoided within this sub, we should focus on the purpose of the sub, which is not to debate the merits of generative AI for music production but to support and explore the use of it.

There's an irony of having to create an account such as this to facilitate a pushback that shouldn't even be required.

This is a constructive opinion: less support for the adversarial nonsense allowed under the guise of freedom of speech and more support for users of Suno. We're not here to debate. If we wanted that, we'd be at r/aiwars instead of being here.

And if you're not interested in Suno to any extent, why would you be here in the first place if not to cause strife? I've been here as a member of the sub for about 16 months. In that time, I've watched brigades camp and random self-proclaimed real musicians outright bully the community and for what? To have everything posted downvoted into oblivion while members have to endure a constant barrage of unsolicited hate?

I hope that whomever you choose to add to this mod team is capable of and willing to take a viable stand against all of this ridiculous nonsense. Break out a ban hammer once in awhile. Support the community that supports Suno.

Taking this stance would require significantly more moderators than we have now. I definitely utilize the ban hammer quite a bit but our activity level is just incredibly high. Hopefully we can bring on enough new active moderators to where this would be realistic.

I understand. 140k+ weekly visitors, 18k+ weekly contributions. It required that moderation scaled with growth because it now is absolutely that daunting a task.

If I'm being honest, this would be the first time in my 16 months that I've observed a post such as this seeking an expansion to moderation. Over the course, I've also observed an exodus of this sub's more active membership toward a particular discord channel due to the Wild West nature of the sub. I have observed remarkable growth despite there being a percentage of anti-AI opposition within. I likely could have observed far greater growth had many of our top contributors not been forced to abandon the sub to spare their sanity.

The solution was, of course, that growth of the community required a correlative increase in moderation. The debatable issue is whether a standing CTA would have been met with a requisite desire by the community to effectively defend itself against the issues that have become this unmanageable.

I would hope that the community steps up, else its own apathy dares to condemn it to being flooded by anti-AI rhetoric and the ignorant bullies that spew it. Likewise, I would hope that notions like freedom of speech and civility are regarded but that reality is also taken into consideration, that when belligerence arrives, being met by bouncers is viewed as far more appropriate for this sub than being met by diplomats, even if diplomacy is merely disguising a lack of force.

This is the truth. This sub isn't the place for debate if pro or anti AI. We are pro AI, that's why we are here. Just remove the anti folks. Simple. They don't belong here.

i dunno, i dont think this is the community to have nuanced back and forths about the good and bad of generative ai.

we have enough of that in literally any other sub where one attempts to post their art.

we should have some spaces that celebrate ai art and music,

pleaces where we dont have to worry about our opinions or questions about process, how to get over hurdles or deal with intricacies of the tech, etc etc etc to be shat upon by anti ai sentiment,

    - and youd think this sub would be one such place.

instead even here one can expect one's posts to get sniped by cruel anti ai people here just to get into fights. even if that isnt what you wanted to talk about, you can bet some anti will come in with their cruelty and shitty opinion about generative ai and make your post about that.

Post: "hey how do you guys get a consistent vocalist in your songs?"

First comment: "maybe try to actually make music instead, you can meet people, find a singer you like, i promise you will like it so much more and that way you also wouldnt be stealing from artists"

^ eyeroll....miss me with your nuanced discussions about ai art and music. i been down them roads, id bet most of us have and id bet most of us aint here to have them fights.

You make some good points.. and it would be cool to have a space like that I agree.

I loved the one a few days ago where the guy was asking how to clone anne-marie, that post seemed really sus given she is signed to WMG!

I just replied and gave advice on building your own vocalist lol

Anywhere people congregate around a common topic, you’re going to get people that don’t want some other people/content in the community for some reason they think is important. It’s tiring, I agree, that labelmakers, judges and gatekeepers continue to insist on making themselves the loudest people in the room.

I just don’t think it’s solvable at any kind of scale whatsoever, based primarily on having been the target of some choice and wholly unwarranted ire (check my profile links, we know each other) as I made my way across various medium to large music communities, AI friendly or no.

I came to the conclusion that very small (like 10-30), very focused communities and collectives optimised for self selection/curation were the way to go for ideation, discussion, etc. and articles and tutorials along with experiments the way to go for skill development.

Well looks like we should use constructive means to help them see the light?

I'm not here to help them. I'm here to help the users of Suno.

Can the mods please ban that guy who keeps posting about the class action lawsuit

I removed his latest post but Ill look at a ban

  • I'll do it only on the condition that I can ban all anti AI users.

Depends on how wide a net you'd want to cast. Having an opinion isn't prohibited here. Trying to ruin other people's days is.

This subreddit also has insanely high activity levels, which makes it impossible to monitor every single person here. We had 56k comments posted in the last month alone.

Maybe I should join. I’ve been around Reddit for years. And I don’t put up with pure BS. I’ll be glad to have structured arguments but these. “ pick up an instrument” raids are a nuisance.

    Learn a DAW!

    • Furiously loads up garage band *

It's the same 15 or so people who I see doing it all the time. They are anti AI music and do not belong here.

    Aka: a very wide net.

Seriously, not many of them need to be banned. Discussing opposing opinions and engaging in constructive conversations can be quite beneficial, as long as it's kept civil.

To an extent. I don't think posts and comments should be allowed when they attempt to invalidate the entire premise of a subreddit. Like, I'm not a Christian and I've never been a Christian. But I don't think r/Christianity should have to deal with a bunch of atheists flooding every post with "FYI, you DO realize there's no contemporary extra-Biblical evidence of Jesus' divinity, right?"

ALL of them need it. This sub isn't for people who think it's up for debate if AI music is good or not. We've already decided we like it and think it isn't going anywhere.

There are subs such as r/AImusic which are better for that debate.

  • I am interested. highly interested!

ill draft a response shortly using human words

  • With the WMG takeover approaching, I'm sure this will be lots of fun

They are looking to train the next bootlicker.

So you're gonna apply, then. NOICE!

  • I filled out the form, and when I hit submit, the screen went gray, and so, im unsure if it did, but I hope it went through. This would be awesome!

    It went through!

  • I wouldn't trust me with the power. I'm unstable. :D

Those who shouldn't have power seek it anyway. Those who know the responsibility refuse it. Finding good mods is always pain.

Good luck to the mod team!

It seems in most cases that those who don't want to lead would likely be far better at leading than those who adamantly do want to lead.

But not in my case. I genuinely would suck at it. I think that leadership requires at least the appearance of tact and some measure of respectability, neither of which I possess in any reasonable amount.

Lmao I thought the same thing about myself

Seriously! You're probably 90%+ the reason why we need more moderation!

Awe! That's the nicest thing anyone's said to me all day! 🩷🩷🩷

  • Nice! That's cool. Suno is the best

  • how much do you pay. modern humans dont work for free

Who needs to get paid for work when I can just run everything through an ai trained on other mods work?

None of us get paid lol. I've volunteered a lot of my own time to this subreddit and others I've moderated, purely because I enjoy creating spaces for people to discover resources and engage with like-minded others.

Oh you're gonna absolutely LOVE post-scarcity economics after commercial fusion power arrives. lol.

My thoughts exactly, it sounds to me like WMC is trying to take advantage of the common good. Thats if WMC is going to be behind the future of this subreddit.

  • Come 2026 this place will probably be a shadow of its former self. I know a lot of people have zero interest in using WMG's vanilla ass models, and then there will be the ownership issues, royalties that are slow to come if ever. I think it's going to be eerie when they have dead artists releasing entirely new albums, doing crazy ass mixes, and collaborations, charting in the top 10 for the first time in 30 years. Will these models, and their works be considered by the Grammy's?

Poor Cobain and the others are going to get reduced to code, and spammed out. It's a weird era we're moving into where artists and performers will become immortal slaves for all eternity. Never relinquishing prized rolls because they don't age out.

Haha, I want to make the first film starring an all deceased cast. Someday GenAI will be so good that they're going to go back, and edit films. Eventually you'll be able to drop a whole movie in, set a prompt, and generate a sequel, or a complete reshoot. Weird shit.

ok but I would love to redo some movies lol

  • Nah im good

Nah. You're really not. You defo need more practice.

  • Will Warner Media Group own me? I mean, will Netflix own me?
