LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
Maximum $1500, US country of purchase
Are you open to refurbs/used?
Yes, prefer Refurb to Used but open to both.
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Battery Life = Performance >>>>> Form Factor
How important is weight and thinness to you?
I prefer less heavy and thinner, but thicker than MacBook Air that thing is too thin for me!
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
My current laptop is 15.4 inches, so something of similar size or maybe slightly larger (16-inch) would be ideal.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
I do use Photoshop/GIMP/ArtStudio for drawing and illustration, I'm not sure if that counts as "photo editing"? I have some video games on there, mostly point and click adventure games like Grim Fandango and The Murder of Sonic The Hedgehog, as well as some 2-D Platformers like Dead Souls and Hollow Knight.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
I play point and click adventure games like Grim Fandango and The Murder of Sonic The Hedgehog, as well as some 2-D platformers like Dead Souls and Hollow Knight. 60 fps is fine for me.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Reliable build quality is always ideal. It needs to have an HDMI port and at least two USB-A ports for my drawing tablet to connect.

My current laptop is a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro with 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory. I manually added a 1TB hard drive. It has the Retina display, the screen is 15.4 in with a 2880 x 1800 resolution.
I would like my new laptop to not be a downgrade in any of those areas. The main thing I wanted upgraded is the processing speed, that's what tends to hold me back, and the ability to be up to date on the latest versions would be good. If it has 1-TB built in that is ideal, but I'm okay if it is upgradable to 1TB instead.
While another Mac would make the transfer to a new laptop easier, I am open to non-Macs for the sake of price. But I am not looking to compromise on quality.
