Will also is the one to say in s3 that after getting girlfriends both Lucas and Mike didn’t know where the Dustin was and that Will understood why Dustin isn’t as close to them.
Will is probably not wrong but Dustin is probably moreso annoyed that he just gets ignored by all of them, Season 2 nobody picks up for him which is how he ends up with Steve. Season 3 they all just ditched him on the hill, Will was the only one with an actual genuine reason and even offered a future hangout with Dustin (although it still stings). Steve is the only one to really get to know Dustin and actually focus on him. Thats why Dustin spends most of his time with Steve
honestly why are they so bad at giving Will other friendship dynamics?? its hard to believe hes their best friend when they barely talked to him the entire series.
It’s an ensemble cast focusing on new characters and events, once they establish relationship dynamics it doesn’t really make sense to go do scenes of every possible combination of characters when the only thing that’s relevant to the story is that they’re friends
Would've been fun to see Will team up with Dustin and Co. Tbh. After being so badly hurt by Mike, he tries spending time with Dustin and gets looped in with the secret base plot
That’s hard because they’re making it a plot point that Joyce is being a helicopter mom with him and trying to track his ever step because of the traumatic events that have happened to him
I mean yeah im not saying he hasn't changed but he never does anything ever. Like he just reacts to the things happening around him and other characters do
And outside of that he was missing season 1, possessed season 2, and in Cali season 4.
Season 3 is really the only one both will and El get to spend a lot of time with the group. Season 1 El a was there but still on her own a lot of that season.
I saw a clip the other day where it was pointed out that Steve has never had an interaction with Will throughout the whole show. I'd never noticed, but now I can't not notice lol.
I feel like the writers were just not willing to flesh out the character outside of plot device. Especially since by the time he's not being used as a plot device the others have had more character growth and interactions making them tighter knit.
People focus on the show’s lore but demand far outweighs the supply, leading them to jump to conclusions about what takes place offscreen. Imo all we can really go on is what’s explained to us by the show and there’s simply been nothing to insinuate Will isn’t good friends with Lucas or Dustin. The only implication has been that they’re a group of friends and that says enough without overcomplicating it.
Not that I consider any of this bad, too much content could very easily become a bad thing. I can think of several shows that would have been better if they stayed “short”.
Nah. It's just because of the way the characters have been separated throughout each season. In Season 2 Will was possessed and Dustin and Lucas were dealing with Max, Dart and the Demodogs. In Season 3 he and Lucas actually interact a lot but Dustin is trapped in the Russian base under Starcourt for the majority of the season. In Season 4 Will is in California and Lucas and Dustin are still in Hawkins.

I actually feel like he does interact with Lucas. But barely any of them are with Dustin
Season 2 and 3 Dustin spent most of his time with Steve.
Dustins always kinda put himself as an outcast even among his own friends since S1, so its not shocking he usually ends up on his own little sidequest
Will also is the one to say in s3 that after getting girlfriends both Lucas and Mike didn’t know where the Dustin was and that Will understood why Dustin isn’t as close to them.

They did a little bit better this season, but yeah, Will has really barely talked to Lucas or Dustin ever.
honestly why are they so bad at giving Will other friendship dynamics?? its hard to believe hes their best friend when they barely talked to him the entire series.
Yeah because will was lost in season 1 that was most focused on establishing the groups friendships dynamics
Then he was in California in season 4
And possessed through season 2
and didn’t talk to anyone for most of 3
Weren't they all pretty much ignoring him tho? Mike was infatuated with El, Lucas with Max, Dustin was focused on Suzie/Steve.

That's true
Joyce was busy running from the Russian terminator with Hopper, Alexi, and Murry in Illinois
Yes, believability and immersion in shows is completely unnecessary
It actually is
Lucas and Will had quite a few interactions in S3 (mostly them being annoyed at eachother).
The only Dustin and Will 1 on 1 interaction I can genuinly remember was at the beginning of S3 where Will says “maybe later we can play DND”
He's with Lucas throughout season 3, tbf
Name one thing will did in season 3
Touch his neck
and be a borderline useless character
Bro is a plot device on the first 2 season and present for exposition in the next 2. I dont understand how people like him
A lot of it is more subtle background development
I mean yeah im not saying he hasn't changed but he never does anything ever. Like he just reacts to the things happening around him and other characters do
he really is boring tbh, and i will never understand byler fans. though will in season 5 is gonna be peak i just know it
they’re making up for lack of engaging character work with the ending for season 5
Recognized the Mind Flayer was kicking around, confirming that a gate had been opened and giving the group some warning before it came for them
Gave crucial insight into how to attack the Mind Flayer through Billy
And outside of that he was missing season 1, possessed season 2, and in Cali season 4.

will hasn’t interacted with a lot of ppl tbh, but tbf he doesn’t have much screen time
I feel like the writers were just not willing to flesh out the character outside of plot device. Especially since by the time he's not being used as a plot device the others have had more character growth and interactions making them tighter knit.
He didn’t until the season 5 scene when the majority of the cast is discussing something I think in the sqwak.
They talk to each other in S5, which is their first and only interaction.
But actually though
It's a shame that neither Dustin nor Lucas were presented in Will's self-acceptance memories tbh
Because Will is the worst.

Dustin hasn’t spent much time with Mike or Eleven either post S1.
Or Mike not having a single meaningful conversation with Nancy after S1 until S5.
I think we just have to assume that they’re all best friends, but we just don’t see certain pairings much on screen.
This is an issue caused by content amount imo.
People focus on the show’s lore but demand far outweighs the supply, leading them to jump to conclusions about what takes place offscreen. It’s because Will’s best friend is Mike and he’s not really that close with Dustin and Lucas.
Mike is the center of “the party” as Dustin and Lucas are mainly his friends.
I think Dustin and Lucas like Will but they are just not that close personally.
(Rewatch season 1 and 2 and it’s clear)
That’s not true at all. In season one Dustin and Lucas are just as determined to find Will and Mike is.
of course they are close wtf
Nah. It's just because of the way the characters have been separated throughout each season. In Season 2 Will was possessed and Dustin and Lucas were dealing with Max, Dart and the Demodogs. Dustin and Eddie never talked with each other
The "Never change, Dustin Henderson. Promise me" scene would be awkward as fuck if Dustin and Eddie didn't speak to each other.
Joyce and Jonathan also never talked with each other
-100 trolling attempt, my guy.
