I just rewatched season 2 and finished it yesterday and yea... maybe i'm just a sensitive guy or maybe it was the edibles but I definitely wasn't crying, you were crying.
I do think the right ending for the show is a happy ending. I’m a Sopranos/Wire/GoT fan so I understand the appeal of how “main characters get killed” raises the stakes, but at the end of the day Stranger Things is an 80s nostalgia, coming of age story and I want the kids to win.
Also, not everyone needs to be GoT. The "make everyone miserable because that will seem realistic" has kind of been overused ever since GoT really took off, and not many understand why it worked there in the first place
Honestly if I’m not happy with how season 5 ends I’m going to revert to season 2 being my head canon ending for the show, lol (not that I’m anticipating this mind you)
Sure but I don’t think the right ending is a “We won but look at what we lost” ending. I think the kids deserve a championship parade with everyone lol
It's because it's been done to death. So much so that a good old fashioned happy ending has regained its novelty.
It's ironically the last time Stranger Things had that magic factor. Season 3 was pure crap, it doesn't exist for me, I lose nothing. Season 4 reversed the trend luckily, but couldn't reach those season 1 and 2 highs. Season 5 so far isn't bad, but it's just not hitting like S1 S2 and S4 did.
Also, while I know it shows how he's developed a kind of big brother friendship with Dustin that's been good for him, Steve longingly looking at Nancy makes me want to say he didn't exactly have a happy ending.
Will got to be a normal 13-year-old for the first time in a long time. If this was the series finale it would be unsatisfying for him, but in Will's arc this basically represents "the end of over a year of torture."
I really want to see oldschool, wholesome happy ending at the end of season 5.
Like i really fucking love them all and want the best for all the characters.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY PLEASE LET WILL FIND THE SEXIEST, NERDIEST, GAYEST DUDE EVER I NEED IT IN MY LIFE. No but seriously, this kid suffered enough. Let him have the best of endings.
The fact he smiled at Joyce like that before he got mauled was so sad. I understand they needed some kind of tragedy in the show but I wish it wasn't Bob :(
See Dustin had a crush on Nancy from the beginning, like not crush idk wat to say abt that . Nancy comforted him , from 1st season itself she was treating him bad .
Man! This was the most magical moment in the series so far. It had EVERYTHING! I’m really hoping that the season 5 finale can capture this same feeling. While this season hasn’t been perfect, its best moments keep redeeming the bad ones (for example, Will’s big moment in episode 4 was fire). If the finale gets it as right as the season two finale did, it’s going to be freakin awesome!
Will was SUFFERING...in the original scripts that were released, he did NOT like dancing with that girl. Lol.
Also, he was very close to Bob as well.
Joyce and him were grieving.
If they toss out the Mike x Eleven dynamic that has been built up all of these seasons to create Byler I'll be very disappointed. Mike and El have had such a cute relationship with a lot of growth.
I would like for them to focus on Mike and Eleven in Vol 2 and 3, bc last season El didn’t talk much to Mike after he told her he loved her, and then this season they only talked once!
I watched this for the first time yesterday and made fun of Nancy for doing that, like "Damn Nancy. Dustin next? Get control of yourself" and my family yelled at me.
I always get very emotional whenever I watch this scene, it takes me back in the time when I watched this series for the first time, oh god it was so special and forever will be.
My favorite season ending. This cuts before it's quite over, but I also really love the way the song Fades off, gets muffled as we flip to the upside down and you see the Mindflayer looming over the school, honed in on 11's presence.
idk dude. whole arc of will seems to be more about self-acceptance rather than finding love (especially since the former has to come first). i think his arc will be complete when he tells mike the truth knowing that mike doesnt feel the same way
Will didn't get a happy ending. He's forced to dance with some person he didn't want touching him while he watched his love interest dance with a complete stranger for the most part.
I want Will to be happy but giving him a new love interest in the last minutes of the show will be so lame, i mean the writers could've done that in S4 or in the beginning of S5 but they didn't
No he doesn't . He gets the ick factor with Will's neediness. Jsut as the audience does . Play D&D with me ... waaaaaah. Why didn't you write a letter to me ... waaah. Waaaah.
Mike knew it was not a real break up with El. As proved by events.

There is something so special about season 2 ending, I admire it.
Scraw half happy half sad endings, it will amazing to see all of them surviving and happy again.

crazy how it started raining in the house.

Excaly, stranger things is the type of show of postive and happiness in the end are key part of what make this show so unique.
Right! And a happy ending would be a totally 80s way to end the show. I can think of numerous 80s classics that ended on a happy note.
It needs to end with Dustin and Suzie singing Starship "Nothings gonna stop us now" whilst the rest of the characters freeze high fiving
My new favourite theory
LOL! Yes <3 Would love that!
Totally agree, there’s a time and place for a bleak ending, and I don’t think Stranger Things is it.
Also, not everyone needs to be GoT. The "make everyone miserable because that will seem realistic" has kind of been overused ever since GoT really took off, and not many understand why it worked there in the first place
Yep needs a Goonies ending
Honestly if I’m not happy with how season 5 ends I’m going to revert to season 2 being my head canon ending for the show, lol (not that I’m anticipating this mind you)
Not saying I want anyone to die, but Joyce, Jonathan, Hopper, Nancy, Steve and Maury aren't kids 😬
Sure but I don’t think the right ending is a “We won but look at what we lost” ending. I think the kids deserve a championship parade with everyone lol
Yep, most season finale endings have been very good, which makes me believe in the duffers to stick the landing this season
i never cried so hard at a movie before this episode

Steve wasn't really happy at all, I think.
He was changed, had relationship with Dustin and found purpose.
Him watching Nancy at the end felt like he accepted they weren't meant to be together, and he need to move on.
The Snow Ball dance is my favourite sequence of the entire show so far.
Joyce did not get her happy ending. She ended up losing the person (Bob) she loved.

Oh you know hopper was feeling out the situation like “when can I make a move…”
Was just finding if someone said it!
Also, while I know it shows how he's developed a kind of big brother friendship with Dustin that's been good for him, Steve longingly looking at Nancy makes me want to say he didn't exactly have a happy ending.
“I don’t either, do you wanna figure it out?” 😭😭 so freakin sweet
It would be perfect if they shot a parallel to this in the epilogue. Except this time it's about their future.
"Every smile you fake."
Will REALLY didn't want to dance with that girl, but given everything he just went through it probably wasn't that bad.
Will got to be a normal 13-year-old for the first time in a long time. If this was the series finale it would be unsatisfying for him, but in Will's arc this basically represents "the end of over a year of torture."
Everything about that dance was just perfect! Season 2 was soooo good!
I haven't seen that ending in years. Thanks. You made me smile.
My shaylaaaas 🥺
I forgot about Nancy dancing with dustin!! That was so cute 😭
Max and Lucas are just soo cute. The quick kiss and then the hug, they both look soo happy
Hopefully we’ll see them get happy endings again.
hopefully ALL of them happy, like one of them isnt faking it.
i just wanna see Will's new boyfriend in the epilogue lmao.
Except Will, dancing with a girl he doesn't like who called him zombie boy not two seconds earlier.
And Joyce, Bob died.
And Steve, Nancy dumped him.
Damn, didn’t realize it’s the same girl
I really want to see oldschool, wholesome happy ending at the end of season 5. Like i really fucking love them all and want the best for all the characters. Millie's hair looked so cute
Steve did not ....

They gave some much but then showed he was still hung up on Nancy so it dulls his happiness a tad.
"I don't know how"
"I don't either, do you want to figure it out"
Without El, I know Mike would have been single but I can't prove it
I love the joke that Mike isn’t even gay or straight, he’s just “El-sexual.” Kid only has eyes for one person on the whole planet and it’s her.
There was no person in that room more miserable than Mike before El arrived, and no person happier than Mike after El arrived.
In my head canon, the show ended here...
DON'T SAY ITS NOT TRUE
I'm late to the show and finished S2 yesterday. Should I stop here?
Nah, the whole show is amazing through and through. But S1 and S2 are hand in hand, the latter seasons have a slightly different vibe.
My reaction after the Snow Ball was "wow they really won. Bob deserved a bit more than what he got, but this is great."
*camera flips over to show the MF*
"FFFFF why are they all still in Hawkins??? Maine is sounding pretty good"
😔Justice for Bob
FR Bob was the best.
That demodog death was fucking brutal, it was so gnarly when they started in on him and the camera just stayed on it.
The fact he smiled at Joyce like that before he got mauled was so sad. I understand they needed some kind of tragedy in the show but I wish it wasn't Bob :(
No!! Don't you dare stop there!
No 🙂 there are great moments after this
Hell no. Season 3 and onward are just as good.
just watch season 3 then stop.
You missed the end of that sentence… ‘until the end of s5’ 😂
See Dustin had a crush on Nancy from the beginning, like not crush idk wat to say abt that . Nancy comforted him , from 1st season itself she was treating him bad .

To be fair being gay in middle school prior to 2010 just came with a lot of base line suffering so he was probably doing better than usual.
If they toss out the Mike x Eleven dynamic that has been built up all of these seasons to create Byler I'll be very disappointed. Mike and El have had such a cute relationship with a lot of growth.

Yea same. I'd like to see them together more for the second half of the season.
They are the endgame. I am actually worried about El's fate not her love life because Mike loves her and there is no other way around
I too worry about her fate. I'd be so upset if they kill her or make her disappear or something.
The things I have read on this sub are absolutely baffling sometimes, when was this even a possibility lol
Never, people created it and it took on a bizarre life of its own. The Duffers and the cast are every bit as baffled as you are.
Ya true , I love Nancy showing up to Dustin, only time l felt Nancy is not a red flag .
I watched this for the first time yesterday and made fun of Nancy for doing that, like "Damn Nancy. Dustin next? Get control of yourself" and my family yelled at me.
This scene has a special place in my heart.
I always get very emotional whenever I watch this scene, it takes me back in the time when I watched this series for the first time, oh god it was so special and forever will be.
Do you wanna figure it out? is the best line one's better half can say tbh T_T
mileven 4 ever
Dustin made me cry, though. I love him so much.
Still my favorite scene in the show
My favorite season ending. This cuts before it's quite over, but I also really love the way the song Fades off, gets muffled as we flip to the upside down and you see the Mindflayer looming over the school, honed in on 11's presence.
It eould be a lovely ending if Mike and Eleven are dancing at their prom
Except will? lol

idk dude. whole arc of will seems to be more about self-acceptance rather than finding love (especially since the former has to come first). i think his arc will be complete when he tells mike the truth knowing that mike doesnt feel the same way
Sometimes I think they should have ended on s2- it was so perfect (minus the mind flayer being mad)
Not a happy ending for everyone...The Mind Flayer was angry as fuck.
Will hasn't been truly happy since that moment
I am actually obsessed with this song because of this 🥹
Every breath you take and the mind flayer in the closing scene is just perfection
This is the kind of ending i hope season 5 has.
“I’m coming in.”
After rewatching the series, I changed ways. I used to be a season 2 hater but this ending especially just made me completely change my mind.
Meanwhile Will:

We don't care .
"Mouth breather" Mike uttered.
Mike dosent care either . He was obsessed with El all of S2 and S3. No one wanted to play with sad Will .
"Mike doesn't care"
And it's the same Mike who in season 3 biked through entire town in rain just to apologise after one fight with Will lol
Same Mike wasn't nearly as moved that he had an argument with El where she broke up with him btw
Like sorry, but Mike cares about Will A LOT, he just isn't exactly the brightest.
No he doesn't . He gets the ick factor with Will's neediness. Jsut as the audience does . Play D&D with me ... waaaaaah. Why didn't you write a letter to me ... waaah. Waaaah.
Mike knew it was not a real break up with El. As proved by events.
I almost don't want Byler to happen because they're so cuuuute here
the show ends here. everything after is just meh filler.
