So the end game crisis just spawned. I ramped up an army and held off one attack. While I upgrade and repair, someone else just wipes them out?! Omg…..
Lol, I had one game where I was building up, and building up, then the Unbidden spawned in the same system as my mega structure that was building the fleets. All my fleets were missile based, and they popped into existence in the middle.
The crisis was over before I could even click into the system to watch the fight.
Important note that the 4 predetermined planets are impossible to know without console commands so they might as well be random in a normal playthrough.
On default settings Crisis can happen at 2400 only if certain conditions are fulfilled, otherwise it rolls random chances to happen every 5 years after 2425. I'd bet it'll pop arounf 2440 for you, or may e 2445.
If the AI is strong enough to take it out right away and you’re not, then you may need it to take out that AI. Unless you’re just playing for RP or whatever
My latest game the Prethoryn arrived only for 3 of the fallen empires to send the entirety of their navies at them and just wipe them off the face of the galaxy in a matter of months. None of them had even awakened, although I got a very confused Guardians of the Galaxy awakening about a year later

Is the spawn place random?
For Unbidden, yes. Prethoryn spawn at edge systems, Cetana has rules for where she spawns, and Contingency spawns at 4 predetermined planets.

Ah, true. No easy way to predict beforehand, but they are preset so reloading doesn’t change it. (For good or ill)
In my last two playthroughs, the crisis didn't even spawn.
First full run and I’m at 2437 now on phase 5 of Cosmogensis and I haven’t seen a crisis yet. Am I missing something?
No, I think crisis usually starts around 2450-2475 on default settings. It comes late and pushes back the victory year if you haven't beaten it.

I'm pretty sure it was meant as it's super rare since AI is pretty incompetent at it.

Yeah, I very quickly learned why there's a crisis slider. By the time a Crisis spawns on default settings I'm already to X slot weapons
