  • Thank you for submitting to r/SteamScams.

If you have been scammed or believe you may have been scammed check this guide to see if you can find the solution there.

Steam will never contact you on Discord or any third party text communication site.

If you suspect someone is attempting to scam you check this guide but remember to be careful even if you do not find the answer you are looking for there.

Important: If you receive comments or PMs offering to recover your lost account, items, or money or pointing you to someone who will do it for you do not engage with them as they are recovery scams.

  • Seems like you skipped the part where you got scammed 😭😂 “and now my inventory is missing”…

Just reset password logout all devices and do trade reversal.

  • You fell hard for a phishing scam. Sink, line, and hooker.

The invite link they sent, led you to a fake steam login window. Once you entered your credentials they were in your account. Tje items are gone for good. It is Valves/Steams very clear policy that they will not restore any item.

If you encounter a Steam login window, be wary.

    • If you enlarge it, it must be its own browser tab.
    • Check the URL at the very top of your browser. (the login window might have a fake address bar)
    • If on Computer, check if the window is not inside another website (move it around)
    • If you are already logged into the Steam website it should show your avatar.
    • If you use your browsers password manager, it will not automatically fill in the details in a fake window, only in a real one.
    • If paranoid use inspect element to see where it is actually loaded from.

If only one of those checks fails, do not risk it. This also applies to other login prompts you suddenly encounter. People have lost access to bank accounts, Instagram, YouTube Channel, Paypal, Apple cloud, and more by this way. If in doubt always use your trusted bookmarks and login through the regular way.

  • Yes you got scam. Really popular scam, usually they are or pretend being girls. They send you a photo with his hand with fake nails pointing at a fake steam id. And when you cant add them they send you a pishing link.

What items did you lose, cs2, dota or tf2?

a whole fat 900 so tf2 items, i barely play tf2 anymore but damn really shitty way to retire from tf2

  • he wanted me to add his "main" account

And then a whole lot of stuff happened that I'm afraid to admit I did...

and now im basically missing my whole inventory now

Tens of thousands, probably a lot more, still fall for scams like these every year.
