Hello everyone

I have just been scammed by steam user Galpin96. He reached out to me on an old tf2 screenshot and offered to acquire my tf2 items for a few hundred dollars. His profile looked legit (i think?) but after the trade went through, he blocked me. He had sent me screenshots of the paypal transfer with everything filled out as it should. But i still feel like a fool, of course. Just wanted to warn others of him

  • That's why you don't take the risk when trading with a complete stranger.

  • This doesn’t benefit anyone in any way btw, bc people like this usually have a bunch of other accounts to dispose of after scamming. Including this, it’s probably gone now

  • A few things to note -

    1. Sorry this happened to you, but unfortunately nothing can be done.
    2. You actually did get some help, you should have steam guard on your account, so it's good you have that active.
    3. If you are going to trade with someone, you should not be just sending it all and then "expect" payment to be sent. You are being reliant on a "trust" system that a strange has no reason to follow through on.

If you trade in the future, make sure to be thinking about that. In addition google these peoples names, you can find on google that this person has scammed multiple folk.

  • Report him to Steam. They are the best for handling reports. "Oh, a hacker got your account? Dot worry sir. We'll deal with them." Ominous gunfire over the phone
