i've been experiencing a lot of "low intelligence" scammers, like you get to the part where they guide you to do whatever and you're able to do whatever you want, afterwards every now and then they will just say "what about now?" or "have you done it yet?". other times i kind of stunlocked them by asking them a follow up question that could possibly not be included in a automated message.
i think its just that few of them speak an ounce of english.
It's very possible they're unable to actually speak English are going off a script. Or are just flat out a bot. I've had at least a few who would send a link, I'd ask about it. They'd ignore it and send another link. And nothing seemed to actually get heard.
