One of my friends on steam uses this as her profile picture and neither of us can find it.
It might be from the points shop but they only have animated avatars now. I thought it might have been Stray but doesn't seem to be the case.
This has been driving us mad haha!

OP would need to open the friends profile in a web browser, then right click their Profile image and click open image in new tab to open the image and be able to download it it's standard resolution
I downloaded the image but because steam profile pics are so small it doesn't help much, only thing I can make out is it has the letter F at the start :(
it seems other comments have locked it down to the cat being a 3d model from unity, it comes without the collar so what we have is knowledge of the name tag and the collar has pawprints on it, probably another unity model. would be hard to track down without the name sadly, F starting it is great though, convinced myself it was an M or something
Are you sure it's not just a custom avatar? If not you can go to edit your avatar and it will list all the ones you own by game so you can find out that way.
There is a chance that it is a Game Avatar, if they go to this link they can scroll through all Game Avatars they have access to and try to find it

Problem with that feature is, there's always a selection of random games on that page in addition to the ones you own. So if they got the avatar from one of these ... good luck finding it again.

Wow op, there is nothing i can find about this. Every revers image search i use says it is stray but knowing the game, there is no such red cat with a leash.

Never seen the movie, but I've looked through Google Images I don't think this is correct.
The CFOS has a very distinct collar, and lacks the nametag seen in this picture. This cat also has white going down their chest, the CFOS does not. The cat in OP's image seems to be a 3D model, the CFOS is a real cat.

I'm pretty sure it's this Unity Asset Store cat. The cat looks mostly the same and collar matches (without the nametag).
Unfortunately, as an asset store item, this screenshot could be from any number of games. If it's your friend's image they could narrow down their library to Unity games and try to see if any of them have cats. If they got it online... good luck.

Too high quality for the Sims. The graphic style looks too realistic for those games
sims running on the highest settings really doesn’t hold up too badly even now, especially when you’re using mods. the way the collar is up so high and the way it’s laying around the neck looks a lot like collars do on pets in the last two games.
Definitely remember seeing this somewhere, unless similar images are just blending together in my mind (very likely). I’d have to say it’s from some sort of console game in the early 2000s, maybe PS2. Looks as if it would be a background asset (like a painting or a player card PFP for party games) rather than an actual model, which makes it a lot harder to find.
Edit: Reading some of these other comments made me realize that I don't think this is even relatively close.
It's this unity asset. That means it could be from any game that uses assets like that, which is... a lot. The game 'Copycat' has cats with similar collars and uses models like these so that's the best lead

Looks similar indeed, it's a VRChat world called "Paradisa" that features a lot of cats. Not sure if it's using original models or got them from somewhere else.

I gotta give you props for this, good eye. Copycat was made in Unity, which lead me to search the Unity Asset Store, where I found this. I'm pretty sure that's the same cat. Which unfortunately means OP's image could be from any number of Unity games.
