I'll be the first one to admit: I am one of those non-players. I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work and I'm really enjoying not playing your game so far.
To be fair: ,,UNDER0 players(...)" implies you do have a dedicated player base consisting of zombies. Which - as we all know - are known for being VERY dedicated to their craft.
so what exactly is it counting here? cause I just checked the page (game looks interesting) its just a demo. is steam counting that or have you given some sort beta testing keys and is it counting that?
seems to be part of third party browser extension (SIH), so it cannot access any private data, so I guess player number which for unreleased is always 0.
It depends. You can say it is AI, depending a bit on what you define AI as. If you use the original definition it fits, but you should say at the same time that you use that, because this definition of AI considers may things to be AI, that the normal reader wouldn't.
An LLM or generative AI. Personally, I tend call them by the most well-known brand offering, "ChatGPT" when talking to people outside the field because not everyone knows the acronym.
Edit: Sure, this seems overly pedantic for general use, but it's practical in the right context. I avoid using the word AI for non generative AI too because of the negative connotations.
Seems odd that Valve would use AI here, but there was some speculation that this message instead came from a third-party extension.
I'd agree with the comment above claiming weird AI usage / prompting would be needed to generate something like this.
We could easily compare the wording if we find another steam developer with a low player count. If the wording is different, likely AI. If the wording is the same, could still he AI but hardcoded as everyone gets the most appropriate message out of like 5 options.
In the end, I don't really care. The feature doesn't work as intended and needs improvement
If you [...], but you should say at the same time that you use that,
and how are both of your comments related to my comment? I re quoted the part that said more or less what you said in your first one, and the sentence after that is more or less your second comment.
Really? Must have a terrible prompt then, AI's biggest strength is generating text, you'd think it could generate more appropriate boilerplate for 0 players that makes sense.
Honestly, looks like someone just slapped a number in a generic template to me based on ranges of numbers. Is it really AI?
Ohhh did you play Arcadium - Space Shooter? Space Odyssey shares the same "theme" of the fight against the alien invaders, but the gameplay is completely different. Space Odyssey will also release on mobile, but a bit after the PC release as the mobile version needs some final adjustments.
0 players? nicely done. time to celebrate
Under 0 to be precise somebody is unplaying it
*Unplays your game*
I remember the first time my game achieved 0 players. It took years.
Now, with some experience, I can achieve the same result in a few hours.
See what your 0 friends were up to while you were gone!
I'll be the first one to admit: I am one of those non-players. I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work and I'm really enjoying not playing your game so far.
Keep it up!
Thank you for your non-support!
You too? I didn't play their game yesterday, and if I have time today, I plan to not play it today as well!
It’s manifesting for you bro. Don’t ruin it.

just happy to see someone else who plays anarchy online
Its Ai
Oh my god. Automated emails are not AI....
Do you know how many companies have been sending automated emails for decades?
"Ai" as in machine learning is about as old as computers themselves
An email template that fills in a few blanks is not AI...
It depends. You can say it is AI, depending a bit on what you define AI as. If you use the original definition it fits, but you should say at the same time that you use that, because this definition of AI considers may things to be AI, that the normal reader wouldn't.
How would you otherwise define AI so as to fit this?
An LLM or generative AI. Personally, I tend call them by the most well-known brand offering, "ChatGPT" when talking to people outside the field because not everyone knows the acronym.

Okay. Do you believe that these automated emails are being done by an LLM instead of a template?
Seems odd that Valve would use AI here, but there was some speculation that this message instead came from a third-party extension.

automated emails do not use machine learning, which is what people mean when they say ai in this context
I explicitly wrote that when you don't mean mostly LLMs/generative AI, you should write what definition you use.
we are in 2026, when people say AI they mean LLM. Language changes over time.
and how are both of your comments related to my comment? I re quoted the part that said more or less what you said in your first one, and the sentence after that is more or less your second comment.
I would argue that LLMs aren’t AI, generative AI okay sure I guess that counts.
When I think AI I’m thinking HAL or Sonny.
Really? Must have a terrible prompt then, AI's biggest strength is generating text, you'd think it could generate more appropriate boilerplate for 0 players that makes sense.

it's not AI
As someone who chooses not to exist, your game really helps me cope with my existential crisis of not existing!
Look thats better than negative players.
A sequel to the mobile game?
Ohhh did you play Arcadium - Space Shooter? Space Odyssey shares the same "theme" of the fight against the alien invaders, but the gameplay is completely different. Space Odyssey will also release on mobile, but a bit after the PC release as the mobile version needs some final adjustments.
Yes I did, and still do from time to time. It’s a great pick up and play game to pass the time, and the retro look is right up my alley.
I have to check out this new game!
Under 0 players? lmao
Maybe it only counts as 1 if you are alive, and the players are all undead.
"under 0 players per month" Damn. People are un-playing your game, that's rather impressive in a way
this game looks fire, how much will it be?
Thank you, it will cost $5 with the release discount
i will buy :money:
It could be counting demo players for the text, but the number is pulled from players that purchased the game?
it can only go up at this point!
It can only go up!
Where you see this?
This has been my favorite game to unplay! Thank you for all your dedication!
Looks like Steam needs a big ol "Ai" tag for itself
This is a third party website, not Steam.
