When and at what age did you watch JoJo and what was the reason for this?

  • About 3 months ago, age 34 šŸ˜… my sister got my fiance to watch it and I eventually got curious. I have now read everything and surpassed them both in enthusiasm and my collection of manga/ figures

  • About 6 years ago. It was actually the first anime I properly sat down and watched.Ā

Saw memes of Jotaro vs Dio, so I checked what show they were referencing. So I went and saw Part 3 first and got hooked.Ā

Then I saw Part 2, then part 1, and then part 4.Ā

Why did u watched them in different order?

I initially watched it for the memes. Plus spoilers don't affect how much I enjoy a show, and each part was set far enough to not rely that much on the previous one.

    I understandĀ

  • When i was 14 back in 2013. An E-Magazine i read reccommended it, back then the series was not simulcasted anywhere so i had to rely on fansub, to my luck there are only 2 groups doing it. They ripped it straight from the tv and they still included advertisements for Jojo figures and the ASB game. The ASB ads in particular is interesting, it was animated(not anime, but like moving hand drawn manga panel) and voice acted by the game voice actors. Also sometimes they promoted the dlc characters like Fugo and Blond Kira. I tell you Blonde Kira in the in-game engine design looked so hard. Ngl those ads really got me intrigued, i was seeing casts from part 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8. Their design looked really cool, part of the reason i kept watching, aside from the crazy stuff joseph was doing that episode.

  • I think I started it just over a year ago in October I was 16

Now it’s my favorite anime and I’ve rewatched it like.. 3-4 times

Do you notice anything new when you watch it again?

  • Weekend before labour day this year and I finished sbr 8 days ago

  • A little over six years ago now. I think I tried watching back in 2017 or 18 (crunchyroll was running ads for the recently ended part 4 and I thought it looked interesting) but I dropped part 1 like twice, I started watching again in 2019 when I got a bunch of part 5 memes in my feed and tried it again on a whim that month and I don’t know what changed but I loved it this time. Unfortunately I kept getting JoJo memes which spoiled some pretty heavy stuff but I still enjoyed it regardless

  • i used to work in a shoe store that got like 2-4 customers in my entire 8 hour shift, and while sitting at the register i would watch jojo's to pass the time. its also what got me into anime.

i think about the shoe store alot, good times.

Any heat seeking tank bombs in the shoe store?

    Kocchi wo miro.

  • Last year when I was 35, lol. I’m a long time anime fan but refused to watch JJBA for years because a lot of the fandom pop culture had annoyed me. My friend however had recently become a big fan, and one day we were trying to figure out something to watch when we were high and nothing was really jiving with us.

Very tentatively I suggested Jojo, because I wasn’t sure what else to do and it seemed like an appropriate show for our state of mind from what I knew of it. So we put on Phantom Blood, and the rest is history, although it had to marinate with me for a week until I started liking it. I’m actually one of the weirdos where Phantom Blood is my favorite part lmao

Now I’m the person spotting Jojo references, but I try to be lowkey about it šŸ’€

I have a lot of respect for you because Phantom Blood is your favorite part, people even usually just skip this beautiful story

I like horror so the vampire stuff was fun for me (I also had no idea JJBA had vampires lol), plus I really enjoy the Dio-Jonathan conflict. I don’t usually go for the simple heroes but Jonathan plays off of Dio very well, and I have a major soft spot for PB Dio anyway. He’s charismatic af in SC, but I kind of love seeing him be messy in part one, haha.

Yeah, I also like the image of dio in the first part sometimes more than in SC, I even wanted to buy a nendoroid figurine with dio from PB

  • when i was 16

got in because of the memes, managed to put my friend on it, and then i ditched it after watching 5 episodes. meanwhile this dude becomes so obsessed with jojos he tells me like bro it’s fire you gotta see it all and we watched all 6 parts together and then we also read the 7th part

    good times

  • I was 16, my friends were into anime and these 2 guys I wanted to talk to kept talking about Jojo. I watched it, but by that time, the friend group broke apart, and I can't talk to them about it anyway.

  • At age 17 in 2022. I knew about jojo when part 4 dropped and i was interested cuz my nickname is jojo. I switched from watching 2 eps a week to finishing SO in 2 days. I’m trying to force myself to friends to watch it so hopefully they will soon

My name is Claudio but my nickname is Dio because I’m named after my Dad. All of my family is Brazilian so usually it sounds more like Gio/Jiu

That’s a sick nickname but please try your best not to burn my dog or curse my bloodline

I’ll try VERY hard not to. šŸ˜‰

  • When part 1 began airing on Toonami at age 20. I played J Stars Victory VS + which had Johnathan and Young Joseph playable but I had no ideas who they were at the time

  • 13-14 like 3 to 4 years ago because some boy in my history class recommended to me, and I really liked the artstyle.

  • I was 14, (im 22 now) and I was just getting into anime after watching dragon ball and aot every now and again on toonami. always been a huge fan of rock music and was attracted to all the references. also my family nickname was ā€œjojoā€ because of my first and middle name both starting with ā€œjoā€ so it felt like my show. been my favorite shit ever since

  • It was back in 2019 when I was 16. I had just gotten into anime and was browsing the comments section of the JoJo Rabbit trailer. Almost every comment was a JoJo reference and I wondered what everyone was talking about. So I saw the show was on Hulu and started watching. To this day, JJBA is my second favorite anime/manga (AOT is my first favorite anime).

  • I was 14 I think? I was on a band trip and one of my friends (she had previously introduced me to Sr.Pelo as well) was like "hey have you ever watched JoJo's bizarre adventure?" And I had not so she informed me that I must watch it. And I did, and I've been insufferable about it ever since :)

  • I was maybe 13-14 years old, my best friend at the time was obsessed with it and would always be talking to me about it. He spoiled pretty much everything but I still ended up watching it myself and fell in love. Now I think I've watched the anime 3 or 4 times and read the manga

  • I would've been in college. 19 or 20 or so. I saw the memes, and decided that I should probably watch it.

Most of what I knew about it was from the memes, so I thought it was going to be much sillier than it actually was. I was not ready for dog arson in the first episode

  • About 2 years ago. I was 19 and my friend kept on making references to a show called Jojos Bizarre Adventure. I thought the references were funny and he asked if I wanted to watch the show and I said sure.

  • Like 2019 I was maybe 8 or 9?

  • In my first semester of college when I was 18, about seven years ago, I went over to my friend’s dorm, and he and his roommates were in the middle of Part 3, so I finished it with them and then we watched Part 4. And then I went back and watched the first two parts on my own, and then Part 5.

I loved it from my first viewing, but I adore Parts 1 and 2 and Straizo is my favourite character.

  • 14 and I just decided it was time, had to happen eventuallyĀ

  • Like 13 I think and because I saw it on Netflix

  • 22? I believe. So like 2 ish years ago I never watched the anime, I’m a manga reader & I found a really good deal for the hardcovers second hand so I bought them.

  • Last summer break and because of the memes. Now it's my favorite show of all time.

  • Around 5 years ago, I was 15 and got into it from the memes.

Ended up becoming my favorite anime and one of my favorite TV shows. Been hooked ever since.

  • 3 months ago because I saw it on Netflix

  • Like 2007, when I was 10. I had a Japanese American family as neighbors growing up and the oldest kid was a massive hipster weeb. Pretty much only cared abouz series from the 80s or whatever else his dad read/watched when he was a teenager. His dad never read JoJo’s but was familiar enough with it, so that meant it was good enough to pick up the OVA set and early part 3 release.

Only reason I got involved is because we were already kinda friends and he knew I was into Bleach so he wanted to show me what ā€œrealā€ anime was. Didn’t like the OVA much, but it did get me into the fan translations of the manga so I’ve been a fan since then.

  • Legit as soon as I came out as trans to my partner he made me start watching. I guess if I want to be a buff, fruity man I must be familiar with the most iconic ones

  • Summer before the fifth grade, 10 years old šŸ™ people had been saying it was good, I had been postponing it because I thought it was all action and I didn’t like the art style. I got bored so I watched it to hate. Ended up loving it by the end of the first episode 🫩

  • I was 17. I wanted context for the memes and a Welcome to Night Vale one is what actually prompted me to watch it.

I remember being hurt because of an injury, so I watched it on my Wii U Crunchyroll app (I was poor I couldn’t buy the switch at the time). Ā  It’s been 8 years and I haven’t read Jojolion yet.

  • 16-17 I think. Friend was yapping about it and I said why not

  • 2020 when I was 22. I was wondering what anime to see next and I asked a friend because I couldn't decide between My Hero Academia and Jojo. I wanted more not a childish like shounen but one with a good amount of brutality. So he recommended me Jojo over MHA so I wachted this.

Btw. I didn't watched MHA until today :p

  • randomly saw an ep of pt3 on adult swim in 2017(? i think) looked up the series and ive been a fan ever since !

  • Somewhere between 2017 and 2019, I needed a distraction because my then GF was extremely abusive and manipulative emotionally and heavily held me being transfem over my head. The sheer absurdity of Jojo helped me get through a lot of shit just because of how fun it was.

On a more positive note, I introduced my wife (who punched out said abusive ex) of now 5 years to Jojo and we finished part 6 last month.

  • Summer 2024 iirc. My partner and I watched it together after I had been putting it off (I had dropped it several years ago a few episodes into p1). I was 21 at the time. :)

  • I saw it for the first time this year, at 40. I started watching it because of a post I saw online (a meme) that caught my attention. I didn't want to go straight to the episode, so I watched four seasons until I got to the image I wanted to see.

  • I tried watching it when I was around 13, turned it off after the first scene because nobody had told me how violent it was šŸ˜… after a few weeks I really wanted to see what happened so I kept watching it and eventually desensitized myself. I watched the first and second part, but I couldn't find the third part anywhere so I had to stop watching it. Now I'm 19 and finally am rewatching the whole thing :)

  • 16, it was on Adult Swim airing SDC

  • Fully at 15 but I watched a bit when I was 9,I just forgot then saw a trend and realized I never finished it so then I did. Don’t regret a thing

  • Watched part one. Then two. Then three. Then four. Then five. Then six. Then read a bit of seven.

All of this because I wanted to get to a scene I saw on YouTube of a guy force feeding spaghetti or some sheets.

    Ngl, peak fiction.

  • this year, i'm 15, sped thru it in a couple months

  • 7th grade in 2020

  • I saw the English debut on toonami back in 2016 during my senior year of college and I was intrigued by the fact it was set in old England. I knew about the title because I’ve seen a lot of anime and manga but knew nothing about it so I was curious and got hooked on it pretty quickly. The uniqueness of it and how well the story is written made me a fan quickly

  • In 2028 when part 5 came out

  • It was unexpected, i watched jojo right after i completed season 1 of Redo of Healer. The 'Bizarre' in the title made me thought it is ecchi. But after watching s1 and s2 there was no stopping. I never thought that it will turn out to be top 1 anime i ever watched in life. You can say that this was my first anime. After that i watched HunterxHunter, One Piece(latest), MobPsycho100, AOT, OPM, Vinlandsaga, Currently on Black Clover, yet to watch Naruto as I put it on hold (I found naruto theme gloomy and depressing, more than AOT).

JJBA will always be Number 1 anti-depressent for me.

  • I started like right after DIU was animated, just because I'd heard the name more than a few times. I remember first time I got like halfway through the first ep of phantom blood, got distracted and stopped then watched it again a few months later. I was fully hooked into the series my Joseph's tommy gun scene.

  • About 4 years ago, simply started because it was popular. Wasn't the biggest fan of parts 1-3 so my progress was kinda slow. After that got hooked on parts 4-6

  • 3-4 months ago, decided to actually try jojos. i always hated on it because "everyone was buff". i knew about yoshikage kira so i watched part 4 first and got hooked

  • 2017, age 22, at a house party lasting multiple days. I was new to a friend group full of weeaboos and sat in the back of the living room when they started binging Phantom Blood. I never really watched anime before but I also had nothing else to do there so I half-heartedly paid attention to it. Got hooked as soon as they got to Battle Tendency and caught up with the rest of the series before the end of the year.

Did u watch PokƩmon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball or Sonic X as a kid?

  • I was 26, I was curious about the context of all the memes and then got hooked by part 2, and the rest is history

Yo I was the same, I loved part 1 but part 2 was where I got hooked

The Caesar death scene got me. I have no idea why I’m being downvoted tho
