Ive got close to 700 hours in this game. Ive always married abigail in all my play through. For the first time ever, I divorced abi to marry Emily haha.
She's so great! This despite her relationship models being two people that have been together long enough to raise her into adulthood, but still don't know how to talk to each other. What is a fruit? What do you say about your wife's new bed design? Y'all been together twenty years!
Robins look when she tells you he got her the same thing for winter star two years ago lol it’s priceless. Not to mention that cutscene with the vegetable/fruit fiasco is really weird if you think about it. I mean, has she not sent him shopping before? I get he may be slightly autistic but damn this dude is deep in it, his scientist brain doesn’t leave room for normal brain things.
Emily is the best option for me personally because she’s fun and cool and likes rocks and I also like rocks and she gives you a sewing machine and you can walk her home at night which is cute

I just married Harvey and he’s really stable and affectionate. He’s really boring to date though, he had the same interactions with me as the beginning of our friendship, very doctor/health oriented, but it stopped after marriage.
You must use a mod. Hailey says the most mean stuff. "Something smells earthy, oh yeah you work on a farm" 5 heart event "hey what's your name again? Wasn't it like Amanda or something?" I married Emily my first play through because I walked in their house and Hailey was talking mad shit about me, and Emily was like, "he's got a name and he's an awesome person."
One quick tip for you! Keep trying to complete those requests outside of pierres and stockpile those tickets, along with the bigger board further on. Trade those at lewis house. When you get the stardrop teas, save them. If you gift a loved gift. As well as a stardrop tea on a birthday, its an easy 6-7 hearts instant boost. Stardrop gifting is excluded from daily/weekly cap, and still benefit of the x8 boost on bdays.
I had 2 hearts with Elliot, gifted him some squid ink on his bday, as well as a stardrop tea. Rose to 8 hearts. Purchased bouquet, gave to him, and it was at 9 hearts after. Then proceeded to watch his heart events.
I love that you said whom instead of who in the title of your post!! I like Emily for marriage, because she is easy to find in the saloon most nights and she likes gems which are easy to get as part of normal mining activities.

Abigail is my personal favorite! But it really depends on who you like the most and gameplay wise what gifts are best for you to give. They each have unique personality and styles for there rooms. Penny will even customize your shared bedroom to a style you pick with unique furniture.
No need to overthink you'll most likely end up with someone you didn't think you would anyway lol!

Important point, if you are playing a male character and assuming you can only marry the bachelorettes, there's no gender restrictions! Personally I'm drawn to the bachelors more, but if you specifically want a wife then disregard this :)
Krobus. Zero drama, gives you cool stuff, asexual hence no kids (kids are useless)
but really, don't listen to us. whatever choice you make, it's gonna be fine. doesn't affect the game that drastically (but fyi , many players regret having kids. just saying...)
They don't give gifts frequent enough for it to be a meaningful difference in value.
Some are easier to befriend for sure.
Really, get to know each of them a bit and see which one catches your eye, also you can marry the dudes too if they catch your eye, the characters are "Playersexual" not caring about player gender.
My go to is Abigial, easy enough to befriend as somebody who likes the mines, she is a gamer which gives a nice mental image of spending evenings curled up on the couch gaming.
Penny has the best case in terms of her life. She starts in a small, dirty trailer with the town drunk with no dad (dead or fled, IDK) her only goals she talks about is having her own space, a loving spouse and some kids to care for. By marrying the player she gets all of that, her own room, she does decorations to your house in her 14 heart event (spouses get the max hearts pushed to 14). She doesn't care if the kids are made or adopted (straight vs non straight couple)
Abigail and haley are my usual favourites but penny does have a 14 heart event that involves redecorating a room in your house which has won me over to her in my current save

They all have their merits, but in the final analysis, I always prefer a wife who is gainfully employed. That said, I'm not really positive as to why poor Emily has been left out. It's not as if I'm avoiding her, necessarily. But when the opportunity arises, I just never get the urge to ask her.

It is worth noting that Emily loves any non-Diamond gem, which makes fishing a good way to stock up before the mines open.
Gameplay wise, no. They each will sometimes help in the farm, and provide some gifts. Different dialogs though. Just personal preference.
