Hello Stardew Valley fans :)
great news! My first solo indie game project has just released on Steam. I fullfilled my childhood dream to release my own little game. It's a pixel art metal detecting game based on my real life hobby as a metal detectorist.
My main inspiration was the digging feature of the Artifact Patches of Stardew Valley and the collection of artifacts in the Pelican Town Museum.
About my game:
In Retro Relics, you follow in the footsteps of your late Grandpa, a passionate metal detectorist. Explore nature and search for various relics with your metal detector. Roam freely with no time limits-detect, dig, help others find their lost belongings, and complete your coin and relics collection!
Steam:
The game just launched and comes with a 20% introductory sale offer :)

OP has followed all our protocols for promoting indie games and this post has been approved by the mods.
This looks cute AF! I've bought it (thanks for the discount!) and will check this out now. Good luck to you and I hope your game is a raging success!!! <3
Wow thanks so much :)
Why does every games backstory gotta be your grandpa dying lol
Haha you are right! One more inspiration of SDV... :D but Grandpa was a treasure hunter and not a farmer
Worms or sticks OP?
Worms of course :D
That looks so charming and fun!!!
Thanks so much :)
Someone show ConcernedApe right now! He'll be elated to see a game that took true inspiration from Stardew. This game looks precious, OP. I will get it for my wife as soon as I'm home :3
Edit: Just asked her about it, and she had it in her wishlist :') I got it for her immediately. Thank you for the wholesome moment with her!
Wow what a coincidence :D she already knew about it? Makes me happy to hear this :)
Huge congrats on your accomplishment! I added it to my wishlist & plan on trying out the demo soon.
Thank you very much :)
Any plans on bringing this to Mac? Would love to play this game, but I don't have hardware for Windows.
Sorry no Mac Version for now :/
that's unfortunate to hear, good luck with your game
darn I wanted to try your game but only have macs
If you're interested in trying out Windows on your Mac, I just posted a comment in this thread on something to try. It's probably not a thing anymore sadly, but if it is, it's so mfin cool dude.
I know several ways of doing this. Only play Mac games and wanted to give OP some feedback. Not looking for tech advice.
That seems a bit snarky for trying to help, no? When I used my macbook, that was a pain in the ass to figure out and search for. Apologies for trying to save you that grief, I guess?
Did I ask for help? No. Is this a sub for tech help? No. Also, is your "help" current and accurate? No. So your whole post was not really that helpful, was it
That’s so rude, they were being courteous.
by providing unsolicited outdated non-helpful information - ok sure
I haven't been on a Mac in a good while. But I remember using Bootcamp to partition my hard drive. Bought a $14 Windows key from Ebay, and just used Windows instead. You can hit a keybinding to boot either one when you start it up. No performance issues either surprisingly. I hope that still works. This was with a 2011 Macbook Pro, and Windows 7. High chance this is outdated info.
Bootcamp is not compatible with non-Intel cpus. Apple no longer uses Intel.
God damn it, that exact issue is what I expected. Bootcamp was so cool, man. Terrible software, but the ability to have both OS on 1 (admittedly super weak) device was exquisite.
I'm guessing Apple's new chips are completely unusable for Windows OS? Not for any particular reason obviously. Just because Apple wants to make life unfun
Some of the low level software is properietary, so you cannot just install Windows ARM on an M-chip Macbook. That's on Apple for sure. You can virtualize Windows within macOS, but that requires a license for Windows and you need a paid software like Parallels to achieve this. Now, the problem here is that the performance of such a setup absolutely sucks.
So unfortunate...I guess I get it though. Virtual Machines hurt back then. The performance difference of actually having a partition was night and day. I had like 3fps in World at War on VMWare. At minimum 30 with actually using the other OS. With Macs typically having much weaker hardware, that poor laptop STRUGGLED when I had it. I'm sure Mac compatibility has gotten much better since then, though. So I doubt it's as serious of a problem nowadays. Still sad that, the cool thing is gone though :(
MACs nowadays usually easily outperform the majority of Intel and AMD CPUs. They have gotten significantly better with the switch to their M chips.
I've for sure heard that about their new chips. But I read that they're not exactly designed for gaming. So while they're much more powerful outright, they don't deliver the same amount of upgrades in performance specifically for gaming. But they absolutely blow almost every other CPU out of the water for any other purpose. Unless I'm mistaken, and they've amped up their gaming capabilities as well? Not that you'd purchase a Mac specifically for playing games in a million years, but still.
outdated - not helpful
So angry for no reason
