Since 2025 is coming to an end I decided to compile a bunch of individual city charts on YouTube music and make a map showing the most played songs and artists by cities in the stl metro area.
The colored dots signify the most played artist in each city with light blue being NBA Youngboy, dark blue being Morgan Wallen, purple being kendrick (I colored O'Fallon wrong) and red being HUNTR/X.
Here's a direct map for those wanting that information (Keep in mind I still need to fill in the information for some cities) https://maphub.net/palinbalin/map
NBA Youngboy vs Morgan Wallen explains so much about our metro’s demographics
A Morgan Wallen/NBA YoungBoy show needs to happen here.
Atleast 31k of those Bar Song plays come from my 7 year old. Sorry bout that
Like 30k came from me. On me, too. My bad. Gonna put that on the neurodivergence lmao
Same with my 7yo
Sony is probably still kicking themselves for just letting Netflix have K-pop Demon Hunters rights like they did.
Why the fuck is Chris Brown still played at all.
Because he’s made hits?
Not Like Us still having airtime & NBA YoungBoy being #1 is CRAZY
What’s actually scariest is how slowly it’s changing, if I changed the URL to be the top songs of 2024, 4 out of 5 of the songs are the exact same as this year (this years #5 was Die With A Smile and last years was Wanna Be by GloRilla) https://charts.youtube.com/location/0x87d8b4a9faed8ef9%3A0xbe39eaca22bbe05b?date_end=2024-12-31T00%3A00%3A00Z
Crank dat Saja Boys!
I used to be with it. Then they changed what it is. Now what Im with isn't it. And what's it is weird and scary to me. And it will happen to you.
I can hear this in his voice lol
None of it does seem weird or scary. It's just boring.
I’m old and nerdy cause I don’t know a single one of those songs lol
Me too and I am totally fine with that.
44F I know Teddy Swims, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars. Huntrix sucks 💩🤡🤮 I tried watching K-Pop Demon Hunters with my niece and it's awful. How tf this got Grammy noms and Jerry Cantrell didn't, that grinds my gears 😂
This just in, guy who says the hard R well liked in rural counties.
O’ Fallon is less rural than Wildwood
Well they are both more suburban now but still surrounded by crop fields.
O Fallon is surrounded by Lake Saint Louis, Dardenne Prairie, and St. Peters. Which of those is mainly crop fields?
Well if you open google maps you can see the many crop fields. You'll notice they go all the to the Mississippi to the north and there are even some down by the Missouri River!
Whoa! It’s almost like you can say that every city is surrounded by crop fields if you jump over city boundaries!
Wildwood is a lot nicer than the shithole saint louis
maybe if you're boring
Not the hoosier parts though
St Charles and O’Fallon are rural? Weird.
The residents like to pretend they are. How else are they supposed to justify the big ass expensive trucks they never actually use?
Edit: it's just a joke y'all. I'm front St. Charles county too so I have first hand experience with the pavement princesses.
You clearly have an ax to grind so I’ll let you flail. It’s not like you never see a Raptor in Soulard.
They're trying to avoid reconciling how a "rural" town beats the fuck out of STL city in terms of median income, employment rate, etc...
I hate to break it to you but this is a shrinking city in Missouri... So yes
Not sure if it’s true… but also, not the definition of “rural” so your point is fully moot.
They’re not rural, they’re racist. Different “R” 😅
I think you have been breathing too much carbon monoxide
That’s what you get for thinking
What?
🫵😂
Guys who say the Hard R liked across the board!
The other ones are not using the hard R though. There is a difference. Not role models either necessarily.
I don't believe the hard vs soft r is the distinction in why people have an issue with one and not the other.
In essence, if Wallen used a soft r he would be receiving the same backlash. Just as if a rapper used a hard r he wouldn't receive the backlash Wallen is receiving.
Yes, you are correct Mr. Wallen shouldn't say either form of the word.
You can't like his music because he said the no no word!
I think that it is very fair to not like his music bc he is a racist piece of shit, yes.
That’s true, some people aren’t able to separate art from artist. But I don’t think people should be judged for liking someone’s art while hating the artist. There’s plenty of music, shows, and movies I enjoy that feature or were made by terrible people, but they still bring me joy.
Pretty sure my wife would leave me if I didn’t draw the line at white dudes that say the N word. But yeah, many folks are horrible but that’s not something that someone can come back from for me.
I mean, with that logic, you couldn’t watch Community, either, assuming the Chevy Chase rumors are true and that you are a fan of the show (which I am guessing based on your username). I’m personally of the mindset that most celebrities are terrible in one way or another, so as long as I’m not supporting their horrible actions, then I can live peacefully.
What Chevy did was wrong, but he was also off the show shortly after. I don’t really rewatch shows either so no, at no point have I ever watched Chevy Chase in Community since finding this out. But PLEASE do not compare the foolishness of saying the N Word (unacceptable) with the repeated calling people the N Word. Morgan Wallen can get fucked and if I ever see him I will say shit to him and I know he won’t care, but anyone attending his shows and listening to his music is saying that it’s cool to be racist.
Seriously if someone shows they are racist they are done in my book. Their music no longer means anything to me because it's a product of someone who hates people I love.
Yup. It's bare minimum being a good person behavior researching on Wikipedia when finding new music to make sure the artist and band members aren't racist or bigoted. It's almost 2026. Not hard to do.
It was such a heinous act that I would go as far to say that anyone who likes his music is a piece of shit too. Full heckin stop.
Makes me side-eye them, for sure. Especially when there are so many excellent country artists out there who aren’t racist AF.
Who is it? I don’t listen to country typically, so I have no idea who you guys are talking about.
Mr. Wallen
nba youngboy at #1 is diabolical lmfao
I'd imagine a nice portion of those plays are "so who is this guy again? Why is he popular again all of a sudden?".
Kirkwood is cracking be up
Where is this info sourced from?
YouTube music charts, they have a feature where you can look up the top artists and tracks in a city and also look for the top cities for an artists
Who tf is young boy never broke again? Never heard of that person. I'm only familiar with an individual that is directly affiliated with a particular basketball association. 🤷🤣
Well I'm very old. I know who Kendrick and Glo are. But I've only ever heard one song on the list.
I am so pleased to say that I don't know a single one of those songs.
Why? Not all of it is bad music
Redditors are so happy to be unaware and out of touch for some reason
The K-pop demon hunters songs are pretty good actually
Me neither, aside from Die with a Smile
Who tf listens to YouTube Music?
I do, also Amazon music only because it’s free right now. I like YouTube Music more though.
I like Amazon music. I know on reddit it's blasphemy in the audio subs, but I had too many issues with Tidal and Apple music. Amazon music is lossless and no issues playing it on my phone, PC, MacBook, and denon/heos receiver
I have no idea who listens to the 2nd most popular music streaming platform as known as YouTube Music.
According to Statista, YouTube Music is in 5th place
My point stands
Regardless of exact market share, if a platform is big enough (and it's apparently got at least 100 million subscribers) it's probably big enough to be statistically significant.
Does it?
https://simplebeen.com/youtube-music-statistics/
What’s better than YouTube music? I get YouTube premium with it so no ads and YouTube has way more niche music and content than any other platform I could think of…
I like Amazon music and YouTube music. Amazon music plays higher quality and works across all my devices from TV's to speakers to my denon/heos to my PC. I had issues with Tidal and Apple music with my PC and hifi speakers where Amazon music app will let me play music out of any audio port I want so I can have normal windows sounds out of one set of speakers and Amazon music out of another. This is good for playing sim card games and listening to music because I can fine tune each audio and control both every easily from my PC.
I also have YouTube Music, but this is for all the user made content rather than listening to commercially made music.
Spotify is the most popular platform for a reason and Apple Music is also great.
I sense a distinct lack of taste from most people regardless of race or gender, city-wide.
I live in the city but I have 2 young daughters and apparently we are spiritually kirkwood
That's why I only blast Doechii 24/7 when I'm in the MO
Dear god benson Boone is everywhere
"Morgan Wallen makes music for people who have their kid's name tattooed on their arm, but not custody."
Apparently I'm ancient (30) because I haven't heard of a single one of the top five STL artists
Pop DJ here. Some of that is my fault. Sorry guys.
Trash
Is this YT Music the standalone streaming service? If so, I don't see that being an accurate gauge since next to nobody actually uses it.
The only reason I used it was because it gives information for much smaller cities then Spotify or Apple Music
This is sad St. Louis should expand its music taste
I agree to a certain extent, but making an aggregate of music listening patterns for thousands of people suppresses any form of individuality.
If you want to take a look for yourself, here is a link to St. Louis on YouTube music charts, it gets a bit more diverse if you click on smaller time periods or look past the top five https://charts.youtube.com/location/0x87d8b4a9faed8ef9%3A0xbe39eaca22bbe05b
Love to see yb up there
