It does but it's not bizarre to me. Someone obviously loved this house very much and spent years infusing it with their personality and taste, of course it's looks more like a home than something made up like a corporate lobby.
Honestly, other than a deep, deep clean and repaint I'd love to lean into the 70s of the basement, even ask if I can purchase the oh so 70's sofa and chairs that are down there!
A 70s themed but modern equipped cinema/game room would be awesome.
It's always sad to see a 'grandparent house' that's so clearly in the process of being cleaned out after bereavement. Cardboard box sitting on top of the gas hob makes me nervous!
Wonderful Dralon and chintz! Ruffles and swags, even the outside loo has a net curtain. Gorgeous built wardrobes and I think Nan died in the bed with the canopy. That’s support pillow looks used. And then a full on 70s pine and nicotine basement!! Fantastic
When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it looked like Portsmouth. Clicked on it and was correct. I lived on Devonshire Avenue when I was a small kid. Much bigger garden, didn’t have a basement though
bizarrely it still looks more of a home than most of the greige nightmares

Oh god, that basement. Do you think the ceiling is that colour from cigarette smoke?
Undoubtedly. Imagine how sticky it must be 🤢

Plus it's already mostly prepped to be either a sauna or underground games room 😅
Same!

Now that room (pic 10) has been smoked in ! Can smell it from here.
Grandad's cigar basement. I bet there was a snooker table in there 40 years ago.

I absolutely love it. Yes I'd get rid of some of the built in furniture but I'd keep quite a lot of the quirky stuff and lean into it hard.
Love all the rosettes
I feel like I need an AOL free trial CD to even look at that place!
My parents had those kitchen cupboards in the 80s/90s.

It's Wayne's World! Wayne's World! Party time! Excellent!
Lovely home.
Do they regard washing up as a spectator sport?
