Also Shanghai and the Cruiseship are some of my all time favorite levels lol.

I'm not a fan of Conviction, and while Blacklist tried to go back to the roots, it still mixed the mark for me. It was missing some kinda soul and Sam wasn't Sam.

Double Agent 360 definitely was half baked and unpolished in many ways, but it just felt a lot more soulful and classical than Blacklist and Conviction to me. (Also DA 360 still has that Chaos Theory nostalgia with the reused sounds, animations, and reused guard voices lol.)

I'd say PT and Chaos Theory are my favorites overall, but DA 360 I'd take over Blacklist and Conviction any day.

  • DA 360 / ps3 was awesome, it’s what i played back then. i loved the story mode, i completely a ghost run about.. 2-3 years ago and it was amazing. don’t even get me started on the multiplayer, that shit was PEAK. to this day i think the escape theme when you’ve captured all the files is a top 10 splinter cell theme. back before i even had internet, i’d play solo spy vs. mercs offline and i managed to unlock all the maps and the full suits. learned how to cheese the bots and get easy knockouts and everything. i have so many memories of playing this game on my xbox 360 arcade back in the day when it came out.

  • I loved Double Agent. Never understood why people didn’t like it. It seemed like an upgrade and progression. Plus it was a cool spin on the story.

I like the game due to it still feeling like classic Splinter Cell and the immaculate atmosphere and vibe the game gives off, but I can understand why it's not beloved. More linear levels, removal of light and sound meters, stiffer movement, too many daytime levels, wonky ai and general lack of polish, a terrible PC port, half baked narrative, and too many missions at the headquarters, and shallow story choices that don't really change anything besides the ending.

  • Nah I actually agree, for all its faults DA was the last old school SC game

  • We're a small group of fans here who absolutely love DA v1, haha. Despite its flaws and technical issues, this game was fun and felt innovative in many ways.

Like you I think it's the last game in the series that kept the original true Splinter Cell spirit, but on top of that the devs managed to twist it a little bit and make the concept and gameplay even more tense. You really feel like playing a double agent and iit feels immersive and quite unique.

Of course the game is far from perfect, the devs clearly didn't have the time to properly implement all the new gameplay features, new gadgets and so on. And that's what saddens me because this game had an amazing potential. If only the devs had the time and resources, I'm sure this game would be revered by the fans as one of the best in the series. Hopefully someday a remake could fix this and reveal the true potential of that game.

    I hope so too.

  • If you enjoy chaos theory then DA last gen is gonna hit like crack my personal favorite of the franchise

DA Last gen is good too, but I like CT and PT more personally

  • I think DA would get a lot more love now if it was not janky on some PCs. Even I had crashes, infrequently. I think the patches fixed it for the most part, but installing them can be tricky for some people because Steam does not generate a registry key, which the patches need.

I also think people didn't like the JBA missions and how a lot of your Hud wasn't visible .

Cycling gadgets was a bit off, not gonna lie.it just took some time to get used to. And with the JBA missions, I guess some people don't like doing bad guy stuff and wanna be shining heroes.

  • I love DA also. I played it on release as a teenager and it blew my mind. To this day I still think it has the best soundtrack in the franchise. CT is fantastic, but DA is so atmospheric.

Yeah ngl. The first time I played Double Agent was the most mind-blowing Splinter Cell experience I've ever had.

It felt and looked incredibly next gen back when the Xbox 360 was fresh. Shanghai, Iceland, and Cozumel were like the best and craziest things ever back then.

I might agree on the soundtrack too. Also visually/aesthetically it might still be my favorite in the series to this day.

  • I'm 100% with you.

  • DAV1 and V2 are literally my favorites next to CT.

You’re not the only one! ^

CT, DA V1, and PT are my favorites in no particular order

CT, DAV2, DAV1, PT, SAR, CV, BL

  • I’m the same, I loved DA (360).

No idea why Conviction and Blacklist are well liked, those games killed the franchise, it went down the action route and left the core stealth of Splinter Cell behind.

Tbf Blacklist did actually try to bring the stealth from the old games back but it still felt........off.

  • It's my favorite game, bugs and all. You really feel like a double agent in the 360 version but in the Xbox version it's basically chaos theory 2. I also think DA has the best story , I just didn't like when they decided to give you the choice to kill or save Lambert but then Conviction he's dead.

  • 1 - People talk alot about bugs, but the Xbox 360 version almost don't have bugs.

2 - The JBA missions concept and level design are extremely better than the JBA missions in V2 ( OG Xbox ). Basically the V1 make you feel like a real Double Agent, while in V2 the missions feels like just other mission to the Third Echelon.

3 The game have different endings, while V2 not. And the ending in V1 depend of the choices during the campaign. Also V2 ending it's very cringe and out of character with Sam NOOOOOOOOOOOO... ( streaming ).

4 - Not just JBA, but some others missions have more creative ideas for the level design, atmosphere, visuals, gameplay and challenge, like for example the Cruise in daytime, Kinshasa also in daytime + warzone, Shanghai and Sea of Okhostk with sections underwater. Each mission feels very different.

5 - More options of gadgets and more cool for the concept of being a double agent. You can foi example pick digitals, record voices or copy a retinal scanner in the last mission for access the elevator.

6 - V1 have mechanics better than Chaos Theory, while V2 it's almost the same in CT. Examples...

    • Swim.

    • Use cover to grab a NPC.

    • Score system that require 0 Knockouts for 100% ( true Ghost ).

    • More parkour, but not like in BL.

    • New puzzles, like for example unlock safes.

    • You can hide in a locker.

    • Other option of rappel ( inverted ).

  • Love this version

  • If I had a dollar for every time a fanbase or critic has made me think I wouldn’t enjoy something that I ended up loving, I’d have like 13 dollars

  • Personally I think every single splinter cell game is good and has something to offer. I do think that v1 day is the most unpolished and undercooked game in the series however. The story isn't even presented completely as many story beats actually are covered in v2 or vice versa, the entire da project just seemed quite disjointed. The gameplay was also a huge step back from chaos theory but it had some good levels and the sneaking around the jba base was really cool. It's probably my second least favorite game of the series above blacklist but it's still a good game overall

  • Double Agent (xbox 360) was the first splinter cell i played and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Definitely my favorite originally but then i played Chaos Theory and i understood why people really call it the best.

  • To this day, still don’t understand why Ubisoft made Sam killing lambert canon.

The “good” ending lets you shoot jamie instead and you get to do a bonus mission that lets you stop the final bomb

  • I would've liked DA more if it didnt have those shitty JBA missions

    I frickin loved those missions

    Walking around doing mini games?

There was more to the missions that doing mini games

  • I liked DA I just absolutely needed a walkthrough fo it

  • I don't think you're in the minority at all, Conviction and Blacklist are the most hated games in the community by far.

I often see DA V1 and Conviction get more hate than Blacklist

I think we try our best to squeeze enjoyment out of those last two titles, but the consensus is, that the series was just something else at that point.

DA, despite it's flaws, was the last title that truly felt like a Splinter Cell game.

  • Blacklist is the second best Splinter Cell game ever
