Don't know metal gear lore are we sure the snake in smash is solid and not others or combined like how "botw" link still has mostly old movesets from other iterations?
It's possible, but almost everything about him indicates that it's Solid, and his stage is from MGS 1 where you play as him. Notably though, his beard and bandana seem to be taken from BB (Big Boss). It's possible that they used BB as reference since at the time of Brawl's development, his models were the highest quality available and Solid is his clone so they look almost identical. Snake's alt costumes are also a reference to BB. The way I see it is that it's meant to be Solid, but they added enough elements from Big Boss that if you want you can roleplay as him.
The Link is still BotW, kind of like how Zelda is is still LttP/LbW Zelda despite having the Phantom as her down B. Snake's fighter spirit calls him Solid Snake.

I just rewatched the Pokemon Christmas specials last night. I forgot that they had to help Santa feed his sick Stantler and also for some reason they censored Santa's face. Also Heracross is a lazy POS because he has wings and could have flown up the cliffside to get the berries but nooooo gotta make Pikachu climb up and grab them

In Oracle of Seasons a girl mistakes Link for Santa (he fell through her chimney), but I don't specifically remember him meeting Santa.
