I’ve seen a bunch of people being mad at E33 for being voted for best art direction and music. I haven’t seen posts about it but people in comments are being weird about it
I heard it, it's spectacular just like Hollow Knight and a contest between the two would be a very difficult one. But, my personal favourite is of course Silksong against E33.
I'm not mad about the results but High Halls, Choral Chambers and many other are the prettiest music i've ever heard. In my opinion Christopher Larkin could do the soundtrack for E33 has but Lorien Testard (or any other composer) couldn't have done Silksong's soundtrack, it's just that unique touch i love above all. Of course, i'm not trying to downplay Lorien here, both are very skilled amazing musicians.
I agree that silksong music is very good but no track from silksong managed to make me tear up. Many tracks in E33 did. I definitely think that E33 deserved the win but silksong definitely deserved the second place.
I think that's due to what the theme and setting required the music to wake respective feelings, emotions when listened to. E33 follows an epic theme with high density emotions, while Silksong follows a more serene approach mostly. Silksong OST could have struck the same feelings intensely if it was designed for an epic theme, especially with a gorgeous female vocal lead lol.
Both are awesome at the end of the day but i agree, my personal favourite is Silksong but i would choose E33 for the award realistically speaking, it's way more intense.
However i would have Silksong for the win with Art Direction (or whatever it was) instead of E33. Things could've been very satisfying if the show was fair :/
I’d argue that when you look at video game music you should 100% look at the context of the music in the game. If a game is able to amplify emotions to the point of making me tear up, it’s got a really good sound track.
I do understand liking silksongs music more though. I just felt like the soundtrack was the one point in the game that didn’t exceed what hollow knight established. I still find myself randomly humming the mantis lords music but there isn’t any music from silksong that stuck to me as much as hollow knight.
I will say that E33 should not have gotten beat rpg though. That 100% should have gone to kingdom come deliverance. One of the few games in recent years that advertises as an rpg and actually has roll playing elements. I will also say that art direction could have gone to either E33 or silksong. Both games art direction were on point and I personally can’t say which I like more in that regard.
I agree to some degree because depending on the theme it may not tear one up easily or maybe even not at all.
For example Stardew Valley music, it has brilliant soundtracks that i have accompany my daily life and special moments but it almost never tears me up because its theme is happy and peaceful rather than intense and dramatic. I used to base my reviews on similar viewpoints as this but then i reaalised it's not the main point of music nor an accurate evaluation criteria.
But of course, it's your point of view after all, i'm only giving my take about it.
Honestly yeah when i compare Silksong and Hollow Knight, i also feel the same way, HK has very distinctive and memorable melodies but when i think of Silksong i can't really name many. But i believe this is because of HK being around for many years meanwhile Silksong is only 3 months old, with enough time i'm sure it will take its place in my memory. A part of me still says HK is more significant in that angle though.
In Silksong i teared up and cried a lot during many OSTs and have been singing them daily ever since. High Halls, Choral Chambers, Bilewater, Lace, Bellhart, Songclave... Sherma and Shakra's melodies as well.
Choral Chambers stop the time for me and make my vision blurry the very moment i hear it, i just played it a few seconds ago and now my nose and eyes feel warm and moist already lol :')
Everything would be and received well if TGA or whatever decided on the games and rewards this year kept fair and well prepared reviews. Between Silksong, E33, Hades 2, KCD2, Split Fiction and many other good titles could receive their awards properly and evenly, many would be cheering and celebrating instead of falling into a battlefield of chaos!
- I also want to give my opinion on Art Direction: HK and Silksong is the best Art + Direction for me and probably will be forever but i'd really love seeing Hades 2 on there because of interesting visuals. E33 has really *generic* visuals for me, they are great but very standard if you ask me because i've seen a lot of games like that already. It always felt like watching Witcher 3 + Dark Souls (3) in a little different palette and with more surreal terrain shape. It's nothing very new or unique to my eye meanwhile Silksong has a very refined, one of a kind visuals and Hades 2 having very interesting art style overall. I think later two deserve it way much more.
I'm sure he can when the atmosphere, theme and depth requires it. Imagine cross placing Larkin and Lorien's works in their games, they wouldn't fit exactly within them. That's why we can't truly say one is better than the other but we still can compare aspects in their music. I'm not saying one is better or worse, i'm evaluating their "technique" and find Larkin's very unique.
So does Lorien. He scored a very cinematic and epic music for E33 but i couldn't pick anything unique from his technique (yet). This very picturesque sound in Larkin's works, depth and accuracy of detail is unmatched for me, that's why my opinion leans towards this way (i don't have the same level of familiarity as i have with Larkin's music, i'm going to spend more time and keep polishing my thoughts on it).
I'm sure both people are one of the most talented, incredible artists around in our time and i would write their names with gold letters if i could.
I think that Lorien’s story telling ability is very unique, and not something you see from many other game OST composers. Going back to Une vie a’taimer, even if you don’t know what’s being said by the singers, you can tell there is quite clearly an argument going on between the two by how their voices are arranged, in addition to how the instrumental is arranged as well(the dueling Violin/Electric guitar with the Piano interludes very clearly detailing a fight between two people with somebody caught in the middle).
In addition to that Lorien seems to be incredible at fusing genre’s without them seeming out of place in the game’s context. With the entire Une vie trilogy, you have this incredible mixture of baroque composition and rock opera. When you meet Monoco, you’re slapped in the face with this jazz-funk combination that even includes elements of Industrial Jazz. There are several synthwave tracks scattered throughout the game that contrast very well with the baroque-chanson mixes that the game normally provides. He is very good at making all these music choices that for any other game might have you scratching your head, just work for the environment and setting that they’re put in. Definitely give some more time to the soundtrack because he has a lot of the depth that you’re ascribing to Larkin as well.
I can see where you’re coming from but I think the lyrical tracks are what make E33 beat Silksong for me, beautiful tracks like Une Vie à t’aimer or Une Vie à Peindre sounding, Lumiére etc. are all beautiful tracks which intertwine with the story and the characters’ personalities/thought processes so well whilst not being in your face especially until you finish the game with the White Haired Man’s final speech
For non lyrical tracks François’ theme as well as Goblu’s theme are some of the most pretty music I’ve heard, I might listen through silksong’s ost again but it was such a hard decision for me on so many of the categories since it’s the game I’ve waited 7 years for vs. the game that has affected my outlook on games as a whole
Been meaning to, I just loved E33’s since it linked in with the fights so well and the lyrical tracks in particular just piecing story together as well as hinting towards the ending (whilst also not just saying outright) and major reveals makes it work so well as well as how each track for the main bosses fit their boss’ story so well
I’ve seen more people upset at art direction. Which I’d have to agree with. One has great looking ue5 environments, the other is all hand drawn by 1 guy
Its a tough choice for me tbh. E33 just has a lot more emotional depth in the story which helped enhance the music, but alicia by far sweeps. Its only the title screen music but its so beautiful. Not to mention theres overall just more songs in E33 than silksong, and some silksong boss musics are reused
Even tho I like HK and Silksong's OST more, I'm glad E33 won that one! Everyone who knows anything about HK and SuperGiant organically learns the names Christopher Larkin and Darren Korb. They are established and well known artists. This was that guys first game OST. I'm glad he got to take to the stage, so people get to put a face and a name with the soundtrack! I'm very much biased because I'm also a mucisian, but I'm glad he got to stand on stage and be acknowledged in such a way!
Now regarding art direction, I disagree with E33 winning. That doesn't mean I hate them for it, but I do think that either Silksong and Hades had better art direction than E33. To me, creating a consistent, stylized identity for yourself in a game is an incredible achievement and imo more impressive than sticking to a "human-populated world" like E33. It's not bad at all, just not as great as the other two imo.
Exactly this. It's forced nonsense. In reality it's a small handful of people being upset and some shit stirrers rage baiting, which happens in any game community. Ultimately this is all a complete non controversy and manufactured outrage from people like OP.
Oh you missed a lot of them lol. They were especially really mad that E33 won the best indie game. And I have to agree that talking purely indie game, the award should have gone to someone else. I voted silksong personally but yeah I didnt blow a gasket over this, unlike some of the posts I've seen. Rather, it's the comments that were insanely grumpy
It's pathetic, honestly. Especially since they've got to reply on a stupid meme image to get their point across. This right here is the detriment of caring so much about these dumb award shows.
It's a myth that began when Genshin Impact gave free rewards for when their were nominated in categories, but they never gave anything for Players' Voice, despite winning it in 2022. So the votes of the players have ZERO impact on the rewards
Kuro gave rewards for a nomination so their massive playerbase went "well we'll probably get something for the award too" and mobilised the Eastern players
Honestly I would be more mad about that dispatch silksong and expedition 33 all lost to that one but it is player's choice and everything I know points to people doesn't make good choices
Given the years of 0 coms, SS didn't deserve Players voice. Its normal for a service game to win that category, as those games are constantly updating while receiving player feedback, so except extreme cases as No mans sky, its natural that most nominees and winners are service games, which nowadays most of them are gachas
This always happens with that category, gacha gamers are way more in touch with external content outside of the game since they got nothing better to do than goon and wait for their characters “energy” to recharge so they can play the game again
*throws live grenade into 5 subreddits. FTFY.
Damn. The irony of that title and phrase is peak karma farming redditor. Guys like OP need to touch grass lol.
I have seen so many people say 'silksong subreddit is so toxic they won't tolerate valid critisism they only say git gud' but the reality is that most of the complaints are not valid. ie LJ runback is not that long, yes runbacks are annoying, but on average HK had worse ones and yet I never see complaints about it on reddit.
The critisms that are valid however get posted a million times. Yes we know that the runback to groal is really bad and that the shellshard system is flawed, but there is no need to post it when everyone is aware of it already. LJ's explosion is bullshit tho, there is no denying that
the SECOND someone has a different opinion than them they go “oh you’re just coping, you don’t actually like silksong you’re just coping because you know my game is better and you’re just a silksong fanboy”
I don't get why they give the big winner the title in other categories. Like, if E33 is game of the year it's obviously indie game of the year and RPG game of the year also. Why not let someone else have it?
I love E33 so much, but it really doesn’t feel like an RPG to me. I found out tonight it’s called a jrpg. I guess I thought RPGs were more kinda open character, versus like having premade characters you follow in a premade story. I guess I just don’t know what an RPG is anymore.
Yeah, Japan has its own tradition of RPG games which often doesn't really involve and 'roleplaying', but instead focuses on the action parts - levelling up, gaining skills and equipment, and using them tactically in (usually turn-based) battles. They usually have set characters following linear stories.
Dragon Quest set the archetype and Final Fantasy popularised it in the west (among others). Clair Obscur is specifically designed to be in the style of Final Fantasy.
Its just that people dont know what role playing means. If you act as a character and behave like they would (like you’re acting) that is also roleplaying. You’re literally playing a scripted role. Role playing doesnt have anything to do with “free character that does whatever the player wants”, id argue that conceptually speaking thats the opposite of role playing because you’re not playing any role, you’re acting as yourself in a videogame world through the character as a vessel
“Idk what an RPG is anymore” JRPGs with set characters in a story are basically the granddaddy of RPGs, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, etc. Also most RPGs, even western ones, have a “premade story” even if it’s open on what order you do things in/if you skip side quests.
I guess I just learned the term as role playing and expected that it referred to games where you actually do some roleplaying. Not just play premade characters in stories and certainly not stories that are pretty on rails like E33 was.
Didn’t mean to make people upset with my ignorance here, I appreciate the info.
Do you understand the point of having multiple categories in an award show? It is so that more than one game can get an award. There is substantial difference between every game in existence getting an award, and 29 different games getting awards.
No, the point of having multiple awards is to reward the ones who excell at that particular category, it has 0 to do with "letting others have awards", that's absurd. There's a reason why Lord of the Rings swept the Oscars with 7 wins including best picture, this happens at all types of award events.
Edit: I went back to re-check the numbers and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King won a whopping 11 Oscars in a single night, all that they were nominated for. By the standards of a lot of people watching the Game Awards though this shouldn't be possible since others deserve to win awards.
This is true for some things like music, but not others like genre. Why have a best RPG award? If the best RPG got beaten by the best game, it being the best RPG is just a consolation prize. That category exists purely to give out more awards.
If we start going “you won enough, even if you are the best here as well you can’t have it” we aren’t even at an award show anymore, a participation award .
I get that, but watching e33 get their 8th award did get a little boring and I can understand why people thought it made it much less entertaining to watch
In the NFL, the MVP and the Offensive Player of the Year are always different players even though the MVP is a Quarterback award. We know if it's the best it's the best in its category. Give a shout-out to the second best game in the category and try to grow the community or genre.
Technically it is an indie game by the definition the Game Awards set for the award, but I don't think it's best indie. It's a great game from what I've seen and heard, don't get me wrong it looks beautiful and the music is amazing, but I honestly thought Silksong or Hades II would win.
Silksong had TWO collectibles connected to beating a guy in a race! Mario Kart World doesn't even have collectibles, it just gives you icons and clothes, so Silksong wins through pure mathematics.
I’ve at least done 3ish playthroughs but haven’t touched 2.0 yet, I’m waiting for more updates to drop since Frankie keeps lying about being done with the game haha. The dude is more of a machine than Audrey.
I also think it could’ve been in the running for best OST and art direction, but I’m not much of a GOTY person to begin with.
It's very seldom that a game can get me to start a fresh playthrough after beating it, but Look Outside managed that. I got the standard 15 day ending on my first playthrough, then went back to knock out both perfect ritual endings, promise, and the joke ending added in 2.0 on one save file. I will be doing a 3rd playthrough soon enough since I still have not come across some NPCs or party members, along with the other endings I missed. Such a criminally overlooked indie this year that deserves more praise.
I said 3ish playthroughs because my first playthrough is kind of a funny story. I got Dan as a door encounter but didn’t know he was like, a party member, so I turned him away and spent the first four days all the way past Fred’s apartment without any backup lmao. It was… rough, to say the least. I kept progressing to near the end though only to give Jasper one of the wrong things and be unable to take it back and since the game is so short I was like welp, I guess I’ll just do it all over again. Second time around was a much better experience, had a full team early on, and man, it was all just so good.
Immediately after I finished I hooked my steam deck up to the tv and sat my girlfriend down and was like dude you need to see this and she watched my third playthrough, loving every second of it. It’s such a damn special game, and I love the underlying themes of kindness, empathy, and not judging a book by its cover. The actual RPG mechanics and combat system are shockingly great for an RPG maker game, too.
You’re right that it deserves more praise. Anyone with a passing interest in JRPGs and survival horror, especially if they like Undertale/Deltarune and their themes and that similar style of humor, should pick it up. Insane amount of content for only $10 too.
I can’t believe that Look Outside was just a side project he polished up from a game jam thing, either. He basically just decided to improve on it since it got popular and use the money to fund his main game, Malison The Cursed City. Can’t fucking wait for that, dude. He’s apparently been working on it for 10 years and it’s allegedly so huge that it has 1,500 unique monsters in it already and from what all I’ve seen it’s just a fantasy Look Outside with an infinitely bigger scale.
Not only is it marketed under a double A company, it was made in ""collaboration"" with two massive AAA giants, with their staff and funding. How exactly is that classified under indie??
Meh, E33 was going to win not mad about that, will agree they shouldn't have gotten any indie nominations for it tho, AA isn't indie. For art direction I'm not going to say E33 wasn't beautiful, because it was, but when that beauty is built from in engine effects & asset store assets it doesn't hold a candle to an entire games meticulously crafted and intentionally detailed hand drawn world. Music, while I still think silksong should have gotten it, it is atleast a bit more of a subjective category to lose in.
My biggest gripe with the results is that it makes me question what % of the awards jury didn't get to act 2, let alone act 3 before voting on music and art
Yeah the song they picked for the orchestral combo was a good one, but it kinda gave the vibe that they never actually played the game.
The musical delivery wasn't nearly as powerful as it was in the actual game, which is disappointing to say the least. I would have expected better from a live orchestral performance.
I haven’t played e33 yet, but I hope the soundtrack sounds better than that did. I feel like that was pretty exactly ok. I’m sure it also is better when you can link it to characters and game moments though
I completely agree with you. For both music and art direction, I’d say that both Hades II and Silksong were actually quite a lot better than E33 imo. Like don’t get me wrong, E33 looks very pretty and the music is good, but it doesn’t really have any standout bangers (not that I’ve encountered at least) or really compare to the level of consistently gorgeous that Hades and Silksong are. I’m happy that both games got a single award, at least, but I really feel like 9 awards E33 is a little much. I’m 100% fine with it being GOTY though as it is a blast to play.
Yes I knew goty was either silksong or E33 and was okay with both but the indie game is bs, E33 is AA game according to a few sources I looked to be sure about 30 person team made it and that doesn't seems like an indie game
It’s very hard. I like that, but that can be a turn off for a lot of people. I have friends who loved Hollow Knight and hate Silk Song because they feel like it’s unfair to the point of not being fun.
well e33 deserved a lot of its awards but bffr a game made with unreal engine beat the game entirely made with hand drawn 2d pictures stitched together for the best art award? And the music for E33 was fantastic but the music for silksong is one of the best things about it and it’s integral to the story, I’ve listened to the E33 soundtrack a little bit and it’s fantastic but I truly don’t think anyone who actually listened to both would choose E33 over silksong they’re just glazing, silksong barely even deserved action and adventure if they got music and art I would’ve been happy
Silksong literally won an award (I forget which category), chill lol I’m happy that something other than E33 won any category they were in just cuz of how E33 sweeped sooo many awards lol like best RPG? That’s pretty nuts compared to the other contenders for that category. So Silksong got its nod, I’m happy with that.
Well it shouldn't have been nominated for either indie category, it's has a publisher, massive team, and a large budget (that 10 mil number makes no sense unless they were paying people pennies)
A panel of judges makes up 90% of the vote, and those judges aren't even required to beat each game, they're only required to play for around 5 hours, which for a casual player would barely be long enough to reach Bellhart.
I didn't know what silksong and hollow knight was about until its rise in popularity. I can definitely say it's better than any other game I've played and it is also better than any game award titles
For real dude, jesus lmao. I love this game, I 100%'d it.
But from the outside looking in the behavior has been so cringe, and im having a hard time believing its as much of a loud minority situation as people are trying to say. Some of the shit ive seen not only said but praised in here just gives me the feeling that theres a huge lack of self-awareness.
I'd like to remind all of you that players votes only contribute to 10% of the score. The rest is some other fuckers that voted for e33 on every possible category. Because I don't nt have a problem it won goty. I have a problem with e33 winning everything it was nominated for
Silksong is a great game made for a niche player base, it’s not going to just sweep awards when most of the people that buy it will never even experience it start to finish
yes, expedition 33 is a great game and deserved goty and silksong was an extremely good candidate that also deserved the goty, that's ok. but 9 categories ??? 9 ??? and silksong only one ??? that's what's bothering me
Same with cuphead unless you pretend to love the garbage rip off "cuphead inspired" VB games such as Toyland Tussle and the trash mobile game that came out earlier this year that also ripped it off.
I don't care what other people like, I just think the game awards system of having judges play each game for a few hours and then their vote counts for 90% of the decision is lame.
You went out of your way to make this meme and post it on five different subreddits before the stream even ended. You care about this way more than 99% of people here.
This post was the first time I saw anything about Silksong fans being mad. You’re 100% right lol
Edit: I have now seen two posts about fans being mad but haven’t actually seen any fans that are mad…?
I’ve seen a bunch of people being mad at E33 for being voted for best art direction and music. I haven’t seen posts about it but people in comments are being weird about it

I’m sorry but Christopher Larkin could not have produced a song like Une Vie a’Taimer, and I LOVE Larkin.
You just don’t get a song like that, or many of the others, without Lorien.
I'm sure he can when the atmosphere, theme and depth requires it. Imagine cross placing Larkin and Lorien's works in their games, they wouldn't fit exactly within them. played the game, heard the soundtrack, Silksong is 100% better imo
I've seen a ton of posts complaining about e33 fans and silksong fans, but literally none of the "horrible fanbase."
Oh you missed a lot of them lol. They were especially really mad that E33 won the best indie game. And I have to agree that talking purely indie game, the award should have gone to someone else. I voted silksong personally but yeah I didnt blow a gasket over this, unlike some of the posts I've seen. Rather, it's the comments that were insanely grumpy
https://www.reddit.com/r/Silksong/comments/1pkh2sk/just_why_why/
One of the biggest posts on this subreddit right now
There are some people in the comments bashing e33, but as always it's always the loud minority
I have seen fans that are mad, especially when E33 won best Indie
pretty late, but search these 2 forbidden words "wuthering waves" on any game subreddit
In comment at least I saw a ton of people being mad at wuwa winning the player's voice award. It seems people dislike gacha way more than other games
It's pathetic, honestly. Especially since they've got to reply on a stupid meme image to get their point across. This right here is the detriment of caring so much about these dumb award shows.
It’s almost like Silksong fans like Silksong or somethin
what how, they're supposed to like expedition 33 more.
I personally use the silksong subreddit to EXCLUSIVELY talk about E33 and nothing else
.. We lost to a 2 year old anime gatcha in Players Voice ..
It's easy to get votes when you can mobilize your playerbase with the promise of rewards, so it's not surprising
this always happens. gacha players get free shit
Well, would you look at that. They just announce they're giving free pulls rn.
why are you getting sad about a literal popularity vote?
... I'm sensitive ...
does that like, automatically gives you the right to shit on another game
Skill issue. Didn't vote hard enough. To quote Hornet: git gud.
Anime gooners are too strong
Honestly I would be more mad about that dispatch silksong and expedition 33 all lost to that one but it is player's choice and everything I know points to people doesn't make good choices
Democracy is by the people, of the people, for the people....but the people are retarded
Maybe try taking a break?
This is why critic reviews are better than user reviews.
So did everyone else
Given the years of 0 coms, SS didn't deserve Players voice. Its normal for a service game to win that category, as those games are constantly updating while receiving player feedback, so except extreme cases as No mans sky, its natural that most nominees and winners are service games, which nowadays most of them are gachas
Hey look it's that guy from before silksong came out
This always happens with that category, gacha gamers are way more in touch with external content outside of the game since they got nothing better to do than goon and wait for their characters “energy” to recharge so they can play the game again
blame the voters not the event
Players voice includes updated gatcha games. Hard to compete with addicts.
We weren't organized like lifeless gacha players 🙏
We were busy writing our hunter's journal 📝
*throws live grenade into 5 subreddits. FTFY. Damn. The irony of that title and phrase is peak karma farming redditor. Guys like OP need to touch grass lol.
Unironically, this is the reaction when I say that e33 wasn't my GOTY.
Yeah, the E33 glazers are rabid, lol.
I don't think I've ever seen a more toxically positive fandom since Undertale.
You're literally in the Silk Song subreddit.
Not even close, and you know it.
Disingenuous discourse. Both games are peak and fundamentally different.
true.
Should Clair sweep? Yes. But how tf did it get best indie
the problem is the definition for indie is just way to broad like e33 is an amazing game but i wouldnt call it an indie hit
What you're describing is traditionally a western RPG, with Japan's RPG roots being more about characters with defined stories.
You've only played one flavor of RPG. If what you said is true; you've never fully known what an RPG is until now.
At that point why the fuck even have awards, just hand out trophies to everyone so no one feels excluded. Delusional thinking.
But if a debut 'indie' RPG wins GOTY, why even bother having the other awards?
I'll take participation awards over GOTY just blanket winning basically every other category it's in.
In the NFL, the MVP and the Offensive Player of the Year are always different players even though the MVP is a Quarterback award. We know if it's the best it's the best in its category. Give a shout-out to the second best game in the category and try to grow the community or genre.
It's not a participation award, at worst it's acknowledging second place holy moly
that's definitely not how it works, I think e33 shouldn't of won best rpg as I feel like kcd 2 did the rpg system better and have a more focus on it
For many voting about RPG don’t vote who had the best RPG mechanics but instead witch game is the best while also being an RPG.
Technically it is an indie game by the definition the Game Awards set for the award, but I don't think it's best indie. It's a great game from what I've seen and heard, don't get me wrong it looks beautiful and the music is amazing, but I honestly thought Silksong or Hades II would win.
No publisher = indie. Thats it.
It was published by Kepler tho
Kepler had like 10 games in the show too it’s not even some small publisher like devolver or team 17
E33 best driving simulator
It is made by two AAA companies, an AA company, and funded by all of them. It is about as far from indie as it can get.
Megabonk. Why. IT WAS YOURS DANI. THEY DIDNT DESERVE IT ANYWAY
*vedi, who is this stranger dani individual
Dani took his game out because he said it was not indie
Regardless of game awards, Team Cherry is laughing all the way to the bank.
The fuck do you mean Silksong didn't win best SPORTS/RACING game? Are you fucking kidding me?
Silksong had TWO collectibles connected to beating a guy in a race! Mario Kart World doesn't even have collectibles, it just gives you icons and clothes, so Silksong wins through pure mathematics.
Frfr we were robbed 😔✌️
The Sprintmaster was just way too strong for them
I assure you that I ran faster than any car delivering the ingredient gourmet's delivery quest
This guy must be bot, only spamming posts.
Karma farming leech he is, a scum
Gotta farm those sweet internet points
Can't believe Silksong didn't win best voice actor category
Justice for Look Outside. Most overlooked game of the year for me.
Silksong was pretty good too tho ig
Look Outside is my RPG of the year. That game was fantastic, and I'm glad I picked it up right after the 2.0 patch dropped.
Sorry, I could gush about this all day haha
The AA game had no business winning any of those Indie awards though.
Not only is it marketed under a double A company, it was made in ""collaboration"" with two massive AAA giants, with their staff and funding. How exactly is that classified under indie??
Nothing is sadder than seeing actual indie games go up against a giant like Exp 33
I'm here saying both games are great and getting crucified lmao. We should be happy as gamers that it was such a crazy lineup this year.
The sound mixing was just bad. The guitars were way too muted
Genuinely who is even mad? Nobody is sad that E33 won GOTY. At most, people are upset that E33 is racing in a category that it really shouldn't be in.
Yes I knew goty was either silksong or E33 and was okay with both but the indie game is bs, E33 is AA game according to a few sources I looked to be sure about 30 person team made it and that doesn't seems like an indie game
more like x fans when gamers like other games
nah nah its reddit when people like x game
You mean other GAME
It’s very hard. I like that, but that can be a turn off for a lot of people. I have friends who loved Hollow Knight and hate Silk Song because they feel like it’s unfair to the point of not being fun.
E33 deserved the game of the year, but kcd2 should've won best rpg
One game, lol
Didn’t know 33 had so many haters till these silksong reddit posts lmao.
I've only seen a handful of genuine haters. The rest of us just think the game awards show this year was lame (except the muppet song, that was peak)
Literally the dude below your reply is proving you wrong
Isn’t this E33 fans? I’ve seen silksong fans saying KCD2 should’ve got more recognition for example not just complaining about silksong.
Is that a Fantastic Mr. Fox reference?
Clair shouldn't count as indie
Did I miss something
Personnally I don't have a problem with HK not winning I have a problem when HK AND E33 DON'T WIN
Our game is the better game though (never played expedition 33)
Never! We shall celebrate Silksong on the mound of other gamers corpses, drinking their blood from their skulls!!!!
The truth is every subreddit is like this
Y'all? Y'ALL?! AN OUTSIDER, COMES INTO OUR SUB, NOT KNOWING OUR PAIN AND TRIES TO RAGEBAIT? i can get behind that, keep on
Even though i thought silksong would win, i don't really care because my own opinion matters more to me
I have 3 100% files and a 4th on the way, I like the game. It’s fine if it didn’t win goty, it’s still a 10/10 in my book
I still think Silksong should’ve won best indie.
well e33 deserved a lot of its awards but bffr a game made with unreal engine beat the game entirely made with hand drawn 2d pictures stitched together for the best art award?
Have you beaten Silksong OP?
Yes I've 100% the game and had a great time doing it. Waiting for the DLC before trying steel soul and speedrunner achievements though.
LOUDER !
https://i.redd.it/ztdxo1slku6g1.gif
Well it shouldn't have been nominated for either indie category, it's has a publisher, massive team, and a large budget (that 10 mil number makes no sense unless they were paying people pennies)
genennly i don't get why y'all are so mad we don't need geoff to tell us how good the game is
i can't belive the general audience didn't appreciate Bilewater
General audiences don't decide the winner, lol.
A panel of judges makes up 90% of the vote, and those judges aren't even required to beat each game, they're only required to play for around 5 hours, which for a casual player would barely be long enough to reach Bellhart.
This explains that
God, if those judges are game journalists, who knows if they even managed to beat the Bell Beast lmaoo
I agree lol. People act like this game not winning is the worst thing in history.
They showed you can make money off fairly pricing a video game and didnt get many deserved awards like art i feel like theres a correlation there >.>
Absolutely no one giving a shit.
Yet E33 fans still crrating their own delusions to suck their own dicks.
And it's a fucking genshin impact clone
ah yes, an rpg with anime characters was invented by genshin, legit you got an award they got an award what more do you want
I didn't know what silksong and hollow knight was about until its rise in popularity. I can definitely say it's better than any other game I've played and it is also better than any game award titles
i’m just a hater lmao
The unfunniest shit I have ever seen
God forbid I don't like that the best indie game was won by not an indie game
Lol. I played both games and am satisfied that silksong won at least one category. E33 sweep was obvious imo
I just left a comment an hour ago about replying to someone who was mad that silksong only got one award. I'm kinda expecting to be down voted
Most people on this sub will even say that 33 will win GotY, so idk if I share your experience.
tetris fans when children are taught stranger danger
For real dude, jesus lmao. I love this game, I 100%'d it.
But from the outside looking in the behavior has been so cringe, and im having a hard time believing its as much of a loud minority situation as people are trying to say. Some of the shit ive seen not only said but praised in here just gives me the feeling that theres a huge lack of self-awareness.
I'd like to remind all of you that players votes only contribute to 10% of the score. The rest is some other fuckers that voted for e33 on every possible category. Because I don't nt have a problem it won goty. I have a problem with e33 winning everything it was nominated for
SHAW this man!
Says the karma leech
I’ve seen fans mad right here, I visited the dk Reddit and e33 Reddit, hell of chill
[removed]
And They all Blame Expedition 33.. Wow ..
an indie does not have a 10 million dollar budget
What even is a expedition 33 and why do I hear about it only after the awards were given?
“Ya’ll” lmao
bro I'm so pissed I bought Expedition 33
Expedition 33 deserved every award except score, that was silksong 100%
Silksong is a great game made for a niche player base, it’s not going to just sweep awards when most of the people that buy it will never even experience it start to finish
That being said most Silksong fans are super cool
yes, expedition 33 is a great game and deserved goty and silksong was an extremely good candidate that also deserved the goty, that's ok. but 9 categories ??? 9 ??? and silksong only one ??? that's what's bothering me
I'm upset that when silksong won it's awards, Jeff said "hey, you guys won something"
Felt spiteful that they didnt show up ngl
Same with cuphead unless you pretend to love the garbage rip off "cuphead inspired" VB games such as Toyland Tussle and the trash mobile game that came out earlier this year that also ripped it off.
What is this clip from?
five different subreddits. FIVE
Bō has filled the hole in my heart that shitty ass silksong left
Im so happy i found someone
player voice indie of the year and music award totally gone for nothing man. all the other stuff is totally okey but these 3... hell nah
Counter-offer, reporting for karma-farming since that's actually what this is. Why'd you spam the same lame meme across multiple subreddits?
“Y’all need to calm down” wow you’re so right actually, guys hear him out he has such a great perspective
Sure 👍

Fuck the "indie game" Clair obscur
I don't care what other people like, I just think the game awards system of having judges play each game for a few hours and then their vote counts for 90% of the decision is lame.
its bc e33 isnt indie.
I’ll be honest, i hadn’t even heard of Expedition 33 before last night
Is it saying something about E33 fans that they’re seemingly more mad about silksong fans than silksong fans are about the game awards
E33 is a good game and deserved to win a bunch of awards. my problem is that it swept everything. Jeez show some diversity of thought.
Im fine w everything but the music and score award. That one has silksong written all over it.
I dont think E33 is a bad game but still over glazed af
E33 deserves it. Reddit is so toxic lmao
