Almost 1 hour trying to defeat her and facing the worst run back i have ever done(this coming from a dark souls player). I thought it was a joke and she was done for, but when I returned to the arena she respawned... good tjing i was able to defeat her the second time in a row. I started laughing so much that I almost missed the cutscene afterwards.

Hm, I see
I don't think I hate her, but i do hate the run back
The hardest part about the runback (imo) is the very start, since if you don't enter sprinting, then that annoying driznit will snipe you for sure. After that, it's just a matter of memorizing the movement and refining your climb up, it's pretty short, and with a pre-planned route, the travel feels really smooth.
I'd go so far as to say I enjoy the runback. The platforming is just so satisfying in this game.
Hit the cone you won't take damage
Not even necessary, just sprint and jump past the driznit as it is spawning. You don't have to interact with it at all.
I 100% agree, that enemy right at the start tilted me like nothing else, but once you pass it, it piece of cake, worst than that just Groal the Great
Figuring out I could print through rooms to avoid that fucker has to be the best thing that's ever happened to me in early game silksong (besides the game itself dropping).
Plus you can also rescue enough fleas so the caravan moves their bench JUST outside the boss room.
uhh, no you can't. The third flea caravan location is inside the last judge boss room, you need to beat her first.
Oh silly me, to think TC care for us…
It's not that bad. Takes about 30 seconds and you don't have to fight any enemies. Assuming you take a good route.
The only bad part of the runback is that one trigonometry fly that snipes you out of God knows where

The problem with the run back is that during the first 5 attempts youre suffering learning the patterns and the best way to go through it. Then youre like "ok, I got it. I won't have problems anymore" but after the 10th attempt you starts making little mistakes, taking some damage once I a while and it starts do drain your sanity...
I actually timed myself about an hour ago before beating her. 32 seconds.
I agree last judge was a pretty fun fight imo
After a few tries I found the less demanding path and it was quite alright to do it over and over again. I know it's late, but here's how I do it.
LOL

watching this video like
I felt like it was gonna explode, but i didnt know the explosion would take the entire screen...
Nor would it do 3 masks of damage
If I’m not wrong it actually does 36. 12 ticks of 3 masks. It’s near insta death if you’re anywhere close.
I know, I’m just pointing out that this is the first ever instance of an attack doing 3 damage at all. If it were only 2, the knockback and i-frames might’ve saved OP
HANK! HANK! The last judge has a final fuck you! HANK!
Its a cannon event. Dont worry
I'm glad you laughed at that, most people don't get how funny this game is.
I don't have any problem with hard bosses as long as theyre fair. So far all the difficulty i had was due to me not knowing the bosses patterns or making mistakes, and the feeling of defeating them after pushing myself through it is the best.
How is this the worst runback as a souls player? It isn't even the worst runback that far into the game
It's all because of that drill mosquito or whatever that thing is
if you run in you can just dash under it!
yep this is definitely the biggest reason why this runback got so hated, a lot of people just did not realize they can sprint past everything
This was way worse at launch. The many complaints actually reached TC and a lot of the difficulty was nerfed the weeks after.
I played it at launch, it was fine
how? you were on 3 masks
It does 3 masks of damage
Pfft, I never got hit by it but that's so mean on team cherry's part
So if i had only one more mask I'd survive? Not gonna lie, now its a little bit funnier
Not necessarily, it does multiple ticks of 3 masks, so if you didn't react fast enough you'd still get blasted
oh wow they REALLY wanted that thing to kill you huh
Honestly, on first encounter, that thing killed the pilgrims and then knocked me down from nearly full masks to dead in a matter of seconds... it was so fast that at first, I just assumed it might've been scripted.
If you stayed there, no, you should move quickly. If damages 3 mask damage in 12 ticks, so if you would to take the whole damage it would be 36 masks damage :)
I did the same thing due to being idle sipping a beer. Also laughed, until I lost another 5 consecutive times. Love this game but I don’t understand how I’m still so bad at it 😂
Jesus, that explosion does at least 3 masks of damage? That's just plain old rude. Luckily my first Last Judge kill was with a poisoned dart literally off screen, so I've never had the misfortune of getting caught by it.
Someone else in another section said it does 3 masks 12 times but I'm not sure how true that is
I had like 4 or 5 masks and it killed me.
It does several rounds of 3 masks lmfaooo
I was fuming (((but on retry I killed the boss again fairly easily. I guess by that point I had fully mastered the fight)))
Oh damn, so it's just basically an ensured insta-kill? Such a dick move...
I absolutely love the game, I usually don't play ""hard"" games at all (never really stuck more than a few hours to any Souls or Souls-like)
That said; as someone who finished HK without much trouble, Silksong is incredibly mean/cruel at random occasions. I can't fully explain it haha.
the runback is easy if u sprint at the first half to avoid the red diagonal cone guy
There’s the people complaining about the runback, and then there’s the people pointing out that it is perfectly fine.
Other than maybe facetanking the first driznit, the runback can be incredibly simple, with the only enemy that is activated being that first driznit. Try to dash under it, and the rest is a piece of cake with the right route.
Dying to the Last Judge explosion is brutal. I feel like they shouldn’t respawn if you die in the death animation, as they were literally self-destructing, but ah well Team Cherry likes their torture. I just got through the Underworks, and its arenas are brutal with 6 masks (I’m one shard away from the 7th).
Well you still have to pogo bells and that can very easily fail. In my first run, that was a bit of a mightmare. In my second run, did it on my 2nd attempt, and also I struggle to remember why pogoing the bells used to be difficult.... but it was.
I never struggled much with the Hunter’s Crest pogo, I could visualize a 45° angle. Either way, practice makes perfect, and you can afford to fall in the sand a few times.
It’s fucking ridiculous. I was so mad, good that you were able to find joy in it
DIARRHEA!
I don't recall her dealing 3 damage when self-destructing.
Probably because of the Magma Bell
Somebody replied to me that they basically beat the Last Judge full health and still died to the explosion, so unless they were lying to me, it seems to be programmed as a guaranteed insta-kill. Presumably because Team Cherry had gone more than ten seconds with telling the player to go fuck themselves in a way compatible with a E10+ rating and they were going through withdrawals.
Bruh got Bruh'd
I had this happen too. Fortunately after beating her once, I was able to do it again the very next run.

the SAME thing happened to me! took me like 7 more attempts to defeat her again hehe
I almost crashed out at something like this. On like my 15th attempt (the most attempts any boss that far had taken me) she died to pollip puch poison right at the same time as she did the spinning fire attack and the attack still triggered and the fire columns killed me once she was dead. And a few attempts later I killed her with all my masks left, I was absolutely locked in, and then died to the explosion because she pinned me against the wall and I couldn't get out despite reacting to the particles. I wanted to break my controller lol. Luckily I won next attempt but I was so mad lmao
i laughed as well
Same thing happened to me lol.
Luckily, by that point, you usually have the boss mechanics nailed down so subsequent attempts go better
As AFAIK the first person to make a post on this subreddit about Last Judge, I fucking feel you.
For anyone else struggling with her, if you’re willing to leave and come back, (unless you have it already), there’s a trinket you can buy in Deep Docks that makes you only take 1 damage from fire/lava. It’s REALLY helpful in this fight.
"Iggy get out of here he's still alive!"
I did same, killed her and just threw hands in disgust and the she exploded 😑 Its kinda weird since you can die simultaneously with other bosses and it still counts as defeating them (by falling in lava as 1st Lace is dying for example)
It's the most telegraphed explosion in the fucking game how are people getting killed by it????
I felt it was gonna explode, but i didnt thought it would take the entire screen
IT LITERALLY SPARKLED TO SHOW YOU WHERE IT WOULD BLAST
When you're on ecstasy after defeating her the last thing you see is the smoke. Actually it took me a couple seconds to realize it could be dangerous because I was still traumatized by the widow "reviving". You can see i tried to move away at the last moment, but it was already too late
In hollow knight... You either hollow... Or a knight... So you gotta pay attention any second, but I get how you could miss this while victory dancing thinking she's dead. I'm just shocked that literally EVERY person I watch beat her for the first time died due to her suicide bombing
Tho I lost 500 fucking rosies on that bitch so I hate her too
Glad I'm not the only one who reacted to dying here with uncontrollable laughter. Was so good. Had to step away from the game for a moment.
If it helps, I knew it was coming and still died to it. Why? Because I thought there was one explosion. I tanked it because I had enough health and was feeling smug.... Until it went off again on my two remaining masks and killed me.
Why does everybody hate the runback? There is only one enemy and the parkour isn't even that hard. I only hate time wasted for the runback but she isn't that hard anyways.
The explosion got me 2 times , but its so funny remembering it now.
I don't understand people who die to this, there's A LOT of smoke near her and if you've suffered enough to beat her then dodging smoke should be second nature.
The run back to Last Judge is like 45 seconds, litetally
how, you had 3 masks
The runback used to be much harder.
Oh! How so?
There was another driznit in the room below the platform below the dead judge before the entrance to the arena.
