Which are the cheapest countries, closest to south east Asia costs ?

Lots of cheap hostels, cheap street food, good public transport infrastructure for traveling between cities etc.

I would like to travel for a few weeks/months and mainly not in tourist areas.

How does Turkey compare in price to Egypt and Morocco?

I think Egypt and Morocco are culturally very interesting, but I'm worried about harassment and stress. I read that north African countries are the worst for this.

I'm really interested in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Lebanon. But I think these places are way more expensive. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Egypt is cheaper

Turkey is cheaper and expensive depends on your travel style

Morocco depends if you from western then it's cheap

I'm a woman for harassment pls stay away from weird places always be crowded areas don't walk alone late

And always read google reviews of the hotel you staying in

  • Tunisia was pretty cheap, esp in off season.

    Yes, Oman is expensive.

  • Ranking countries I’ve been to in this area terms of cheapness 1. Egypt - you could live on less then $15 a day - it’s not always the most comfortable country to be in and if you’re a woman it can be unpleasant 2. Tunisia - very cheap also some nice cities for travel I especially liked sidi bou said 3. Morocco - good travel infrastructure and still good value 4. Turkiye - depends where you go, Istanbul has got expensive the rest of the country offers good value 5. Armenia (if you count it as Middle Eastern) - bit out the way though 6. Jordan - another great country, my favourite in the ME / NA - ideally you need to hire a car 7. Oman - 2nd favourite - need to hire a car (it’s cheap) or don’t bother 8. Uae/Bahrain

  • Egypt had surprisingly good intercity transport. Busses and trains.

The harassment was easily the worst I've ever experienced as a white male.

  • Tunisia is the most undervalued. Great times possible in the Tunis neighborhoods with friendly and open people

  • I'ld say the Indian subcontinent and Egypt are among the cheapest places in the world. But be aware that expenses depend a lot on where exactly you go and what you do.
