Why wouldn't you want to see the others? That way you can figure out who the issue is and either tell them how to fix their issue or kick them if they refuse to. Not seeing the others would be the worst thing ever as you need to be able to locate the guy who caused the wipe without having to rely on them admitting it.
There is a big gap between "tools to harass people" and "tools to figure out what's going wrong". Just calling someone out on causing a wipe is not harassment, but currently the game doesn't even have tools for that aside from the battle log.
Besides, I know of people on DC-wide blacklists because of their incompetence and refusal to learn (yet expecting hard carries through ultimates). There is protecting the innocent and there is enabling the excessively entitled. Currently FFXIV is only doing the latter under the guise of the former.
If someone is shit at the game or their class and still does savage then they should go to the balance and hit a practice dummy and stop wasting everyones time. Any raider who takes raiding even a tiny bit serious likely has ACT active anyway. I call out people for prog lying and kick bad players who can't do their rotation either way so not like much will change for me but the toxic positivity and fear of calling out progliars and bad players in the game makes PFing 20x worse than it has to be.
i mean, we shouldn't call out prog liars unless they're clearly not ready for the next mech. IF they can get to the certain mech just fine and was lying about their prog then how is that any different then someone who just got lucky and carried to that mech?
I know savage enjoyers that don't use ACT or a mod for death recaps and they seem to clear tiers just fine. Using tools to be like 'you're ass at the game' is literally one of the activities called out in the list of prohibited activities.
PS5 gigachads from my static play so much better than filthy PC parse freaks loaded with cheats and plugins. And on top of that they don't complain, they're here to enjoy the game, not measure virtual peepee.
no one uses death recap to say "you suck at this game" they literally use it to see if people just died because they fucked up a mech or because they just got overkilled due to lack fo mit/healing. At which point isn't their fault but an issue with healers/mit plan. Which is something that should be adressed or you're never getting anywhere
Won't be able to know who's at fault, not even saying it would be the person who died but will be able to tell if they got any heals. Pretty much lets you see what mech they got hit with leading up to their deaths.
I use a lot of visual mods for fun, but this is my only combat mod. Its such an invaluable tool as a healer. Especially a barrier healer main. Was that a me issue and not enough shields, or was that a player issue and they were in something they shouldn't have been or had a debuff they shouldn't have had?
Yeah being able to peak at what mits were up when someone died is so helpful. Helps with planning and confirming if we’re undermiting/not correctly miting.
Even as the world's okayest DPS, having the confirmation of whether I died to not enough mit vs me failing a mechanic vs someone else failing a mechanic and me eating shit for it vs whatever else is extremely helpful for where I'm fucking up.
People get way in their feelings about this, but if you're doing group content that requires coordination, being able to verify who is making honest mistakes or struggling with a mechanic vs who is not participating saves everyone a lot of time and frustration.
I can see how it can be used to harass people I suppose, but honestly situations of like "wait why did so and so die?" and check and its like... clipped by an AoE or my ass green DPSing too hard. Its really important to be able to understand mechanics better.
Not super necessary in lower difficulty content but higher difficulty 100%.
It might not be as good, but playing on steam I have it recording the last 2 hours for recap and sharing jokes. But I assume "death recap" is more than just video recording
If you're not raiding early and just doing casual content, then yes you would have no need for this. That's not the type of player we're talking about though. This is a tool that is specifically when things like mit and shields actually do matter.
If you're a healer and someone drops dead, it's nice to know if they died because they took 100 damage too much, or because they took 9 million damage.
Knowing if targeted mit affects a mechanic in an ultimate where literally every single mit matters is huge. For instance, did you know for literally no reason targeted mit doesn’t affect the ‘enrage transition’ of p5>p6 in TOP? Theres absolutely 0 indication this would ever be the case, and the game gives you 0 ability to know that (ESPECIALLY because your health bars disappear as soon as it hits so if someone dies you won’t even know by how much)
If you don’t see the value of death recap, it’s because you aren’t raiding in high end content.
It's also sometimes just visual clutter that happens quickly. When p4s was current, there were a lot of wipes in phase 2 where it was hard to piece together what happened because it literally was one second between walking to your spot → everyone explodes. Having a death recap available would've saved us so, so much time.
That's a video of xeems reacting to the very same screenshot everyone mentioned. Not a video of Yoshi-P. Bro is the target audience of the bioshock infinite card.
If a raider has to be banned for us to finally get a fucking death recap then that raider will die a hero.
Death recap is honestly the least game play impacting tool with the most ability to improve a player pull over pull.
Agreed. Still cheating though.
As long as it will only show your recap and not others
Why would that matter

Same reason they don't do meters. Because it'd just become a tool to harass people.

Game isn't so hard that you need these tools.
Of course

Y'all a bunch of pussies.

Is this something that people need? I've personally never wondered how I died, the way the game is set up, its usually pretty clear

is this an actual legit screenshot?
Yeah
Can't have a comment about it this time, he might have to actually say something about the DDoS attacks on NA in that case
Actually insane if anyone complains about this.
He indirectly said mods that don't effect others are ok. death recaps are pretty harmless to everyone.
Yoshi P had ACT on hit hotbart in a recent vid
That was photoshopped
Ok, link the video then. Not a screenshot. And especially not an intentionally poorly edited screenshot that was posted as a joke on twitter.

Pause the video and look at the resolution of the ACT icon compared to the internet explorer icon. Looks like a photoshop job.
