I’m not American but I always assumed ICE worked like any other countries immigration police?
They’re just federal police that are assigned to enforce immigration law. They have all of the arrest powers of federal police, but they’re allowed enforce immigration law.
Who is telling you these things? You are sorely mistaken. If in the course of their regular duties, they witness someone committing any federal crime, they can arrest that individual.
8 USC 1357:
Any officer or employee of the Service authorized under regulations prescribed by the Attorney General shall have power without warrant-
5) to make arrests-
(A) for any offense against the United States, if the offense is committed in the officer's or employee's presence, or
(B) for any felony cognizable under the laws of the United States, if the officer or employee has reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed or is committing such a felony,
Additionally, many states authorize federal officers to enforce state law as well
That page has 77 names listed. Several died in the Timothy McVeigh bombing, but it’s the usual doublespeak by picking 2003 and the words “intentional” and “on duty”.
Honestly this in doublespeak means they should not carry guns so they are easier to kill.

Why on earth wouldn’t they need guns?
Because these people want to kill them without repercussions. Easier to do if the target isn’t armed.

"Hmmm, no one has ever stolen my car - guess I don't need to lock it anymore"
Did it not occur to this person that they have not been killed BECAUSE THEY CARRY GUNS?
They were shot at multiple times this past year. The only reason none were killed is because lefties love to suck.
I see we've circled back to the "being a pizza delivery driver is more dangerous than being a cop" narrative
