  • The soviets took around a shocking 1.6 million casualties at Stalingrad during the whole six months of the siege. Apparently casualties this high meant they just used a meat grinder strategy.

The Axis however, took a measly 1.2-1.5 million casualties at Stalingrad and this means they didn't not use a meat grinder strategy.

    Make it make sense...

Well you see the Soviets were communists (bad) and therefore didn't care about anyone and just sent people in to die in a meatgrinder, while the nazis were anticommunists (good) and therefore despite losing similar numbers they didn't mean to or something

  • when 6 million people die it's a genocide, but when 1.2 million people die they're cannon fodder? some crazy double standards at work here

...Okay, i don't think Holocaust is a good comparison to this.

  • Someone doesn't know the crude realities faced by the USSR during the first years of the Great Patriotic War. To turn from the losses of Barbarossa, the counteroffensives around Moscow, the meat grinder of Rhzev, the costly win of Uranus, the stalwart defensive victory and counterattacks at Kursk, to the ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING VICTORY OF BAGRATION (yes there were heavy losses but hot damn did they crush the nazis and liberate millions of square miles and people) to Berlin the next spring are simply in bad faith. The national mobilization of the USSR, its people, its industry, and the help of lend lease crushed the fascists in under 4 years after immense losses of population and industry faced in the early war.

Way too nuanced and factual of an analysis of an actual historic event.

  • 1.2 million deaths in a single battle to stop the onslaught of the fascist invasion, but rather than honor or even recognize their immense sacrifice liberals will laugh at them for it.

    I can't fucking stand liberals.

  • How dare they win WWII

  • No no, you don’t get it, the “government not the people” line only applies to Israelis…

According to them, Israelis are poor little smol beans who really hate their government (despite being 82% in favor of exterminating Gaza and voting for Netanyahu every election). But the Russians (who haven’t had their democratic will respected since they undemocratically dissolved the USSR), now those are animals to the slaughter, it’s in their DNA, those “untermenschen”…

Israel is a democracy, but its government doesn't represent its people

Russia is a dictatorship, but Putin represents every single Russian

    Lib logic

  • Evil fucks, the lot of them. I hope the literal worst for them

They regurgitate actual Nazi propaganda and then claim the horseshoe theory is real and communists are actually the real fascists.

  • I want to see Yanks try to liberate a defensive position and explain their high casualties are fine.

  • this is nothing new. these are not "libs". these are just people who hate russians, which existed since forever. russians were always hated, not just now.

  • 1.2 million number is inflated by any sources. Or did they add civilian losses to the military losses by an old anti-Communist tradition?

By the way Germans and their allies lost more in this battle. Did they throw more people as cannon fodder, by the original post logic?
