Hello! I have a lot of houseplants at home, and I'm trying out the semi-hydro on three of them (marble pothos and tradescantia). Looking at fertilizers, it looks like they all come in HUGE bottles for like $60! I'm looking for a smaller bottle, maybe under $20? Thinking of using only General Hydroponics FloraGro (the green one) for my houseplants. I don't need all three, do I? Any recs for other fertilizers on a budget? Thanks!!!!
Dyna grow supertrive foliage pro is a good budget for semi hydro because it has micro nutrients (calcium, magnesium and iron) and it's ph balanced. So you can use it with less worry in a hydro setup. I have hundreds of plants and a bottle lasts me about a year
Im new to semi hydro and this is what i went with after lots of reading. Stuff is great so far
Dyna-gro Grow 7-9-5 will work fine for these plants and is good for hydroponics. If you do the General Hydroponics Flora series you’re going to want to use all three parts.
Look at how many gallons the container makes. That’s how to “budget” fertilizer. Then I take that amount and double it because I feed half strength at each watering. I use a few different so my plants don’t get bored. Purived was the first one I used that made me go WOW with the improvement. My plants really like it so I use it 50% of the time and the other two add in the other 50% (25% each)
Stop paying for water and it'll save you money on fertilizer by buying the MaxiSeries green bag instead. I make my own with raw compounds so I can't claim how good it is, but looking at their product information, it contains adequate NPK ratio and micros as a complete water-soluble fertilizer. Others on here seems to like the product also. Amazon.com : MaxiGro Plant Food, NPK 10-5-14, 2.2 Lbs : Fertilizers : Patio, Lawn & Garden. This one is good for leafy houseplants. Flowering plants need the middle a few digits higher than the nitrogen only.
I use this walmart sells it in the summer and its been working great for me

This was a game changer for me!
Botanicare CNS17 grow. Like 13$ a jug. Will last at least a year. (It’s discontinued but if you can find it in your local hydroponic store, do it. The replacement is the same size but 37$)
I use jacks all purpose 20-20-20 for all of my plants, both semi hydro and soil! If you are in the states i could send you some to try out! A little bit will last for so,e time, depending on the amount of plants you have! But, this fertilizer was a game changer for me!
