I work in the commercial A/V field and end up with piles of unused cables, mostly HDMI, Ethernet, IEC, and RCA. Is any of it scrappable? Is it worth the time and effort, even with a wire stripper?

  • Just about everything here can be scrapped. But A/V stuff? I personally wouldn't bother with using a wire stripper unless you REALLY want to put the time/effort into it just for a couple of extra $$. Just clip the ends; check if it's copper or aluminum under the jacket, and sort into tubs as such.

    All those powerboards though....?

Hammer and chisel, mate. Hammer and chisel. Crack those beautiful little bastards open and watch your yellow brass pile up!

  • Turn in as is. Not worth stripping. Ask your yard first before you spend the time cutting the ends off, assome don't require it, or it isn't worth the time per price increase to upgrade.

    ☝️☝️ This!!

Lots of guys say to cut the ends off. I don't cut them off. Around me, it's #1 insulated & #2 insulated. The #2 is whatever ain't #1!!

  • What about selling?

    Ebay, etc.

Sell to someone that ebay s.
