worth anything?

    It’s certainly worth scrapping but i’d be extra careful about any oil or other contaminants (PCBs?) in there.

    You’d expect to break it down (if possible and safe) into:

    • copper windings
    • steel (shred)
    • plastic fittings/insulation etc (bin/recycle)

    tried cutting the windings with a sawzall didnt seem worth the effort with that

    I think you have an answer at that point.

    Scrap it “as is” if it isn’t coming apart easily.

    I would use an angle grinder and try to think creatively about what to cut if the windings themselves don’t seem to be the way to go.

    It’d be an interesting problem to solve!

    I’ve pulled a lot of smaller transformers apart but nothing even close to this size so I have no useful first hand experience, sorry!

    all good I appreciate it...im working in an old mill there is prob. hundreds of transformers of all different sizes some bigger than this but they are so heavy lol
