hi guys! i'm a high school junior with a 3.7ish unweighted (3.9 for this year solo) taking all aps and honors courses (yikes, i know). i'm about halfway through algebra 2. i just took a practice and i got a 1340 raw without studying before it (720 verbal, 620 math). my goal is 1570 by august, planning to take in may, june, and after if i have to (i know, i know) and i'm gonna keep retaking until i get at least a 1550!

(i seriously appreciate everyone who might want to tell me that it's an unrealistic goal because I know it's out of concern, but please trust that i'm on top of it and it's MY goal according to MY standards and what's genuinely realistic for me.)

pretty please share study tips + schedules that helped y'all with your awesome scores i see all over this sub!

  • honestly i think its doable. math is much easier to improve than english, and starting with a 720 on english with absolutely no prep is really really good. my main advice would be to stay consistent with your practice. 20 mins a day consistently beats cramming everything in the week before the test (though you should up the intensity as the test comes nearer)

i'm on it! generally i cram like crazy, so this was actually so good to hear :)

  • Hi! I am also a junior who is halfway through Algebra 2, so it is definitely doable to get a high score in Math even if you haven't completed the class! For Math, I website I used that really helped me was Math Panda. It covers every concept you need. Also, make sure you know how to navigate Desmos. For reading, if you have the time try to increase the reading level of any books or articles you read if you can. Also, make sure you focus on any mistakes you make for each section and how to prevent them. A 1340 with minimal studying is very, very impressive. I think it is very much possible for you to get a 1550+ by May. As the person below me said, consistency with studying is what will help you. Start studying everyday possible for at least 20 minutes, and your score will shoot up. Good luck! You are going to do awesome!

thank you so much!! i really appreciate the site reccomendations, and especially your point about increasing my reading level. i read mostly books for school and nyt, so ill definitely step it up and train my brain. i really appreciate it :)

    Of course! Good luck again!

  • very doable— 1340 blind is very good!! friend, also 13xx on his blind practice test, got 1580 after prepping for roughly 2 months so i wouldnt say that your goal is unrealistic
