This was on Wilshire & 11th, the bus was going westbound on Wilshire. I was about to cross bc I got the green crosswalk man symbol, but as usual still looked both ways first, just to witness this bus literally speed up to run the red light! It had to have been red for a least a couple seconds since I had the crosswalk symbol.

Glad I looked first before crossing, but man if I got hit and survived (unlikely with how fast he was going) that would've been a nice payout! def would've put the city in even more debt lmao

  • I was a driver for BBB until 2019. I was reprimanded once because someone reported me for calling them "buddy". So yeah, every single thing gets looked at, no matter how big or small. All of the buses have cameras that are recording nonstop, and that footage is pulled and reviewed when there is a reason to do so.

Unrelated question regarding your bus driving experience. Do all bus drivers brake hard? Is it the bus braking system the culprit?

Totally valid question, I would get questions about it from time to time. In addition to the air brakes, buses use a retarder system to help them slow down. All the driver needs to do is lift their foot off the accelerator. If you've ever driven an EV with one pedal driving, it's sort of like that. When the buses are still new or newish, this system kicks in a little more noticeably.

I can see a manager telling you how it's not a good idea to call total strangers buddy, but being reprimanded that's too much!

I absolutely detest being called buddy. I get that it's in someone's vocabulary so I learned to brush it off when somebody does. However, you call Buddy to somebody that is a 12-year-old boy or your nephew. When you call a complete stranger or a full grown man buddy it comes off as massively insulting.

Especially when it's really easy to ask what someone's name is (out of respect) OR to read their name tag.

Just my two cents for people that use buddy in their everyday vocabulary please try to stop it lol

  • Even though you may not have had the bus number you filed a report with BBB right way, right?

I filed a complaint with the city, am waiting to hear back. I missed the bus and route number but I know the intersection and almost the exact time it happened

That should be good enough. Just know they won’t tell you the details of the outcome.

Doubt they will do anything. Last year, I relied on the BBB and I had get on at their break point. I will never forget one of the drivers that I had. It was time to go, so I got on. All for him to start the bus late to come to my seat and harass me. Kept asking me where I lived, if I had a boyfriend, and asked for my number. When I blew him off, he left to start the bus and I stayed on just enough to get his operator number and the bus # that was inside. I immediately filed a report and was told there was "nothing they could do because my information was inaccurate." I ended up ubering after that.

I’ve filed two reports in the last 20 years and both times I got responses that they’ve concluded their investigation, can’t tell me me outcome, but said something about caring about their riders’ experiences and thanking me for reporting the incident. They were pretty basic, boilerplate responses so it sounds like maybe you got some information wrong. And fwiw, after a particularly awful experience with an operator (and the subject of my lastX and fair recent, report) I’m pretty sure they added a sentence that indirectly indicated that my report was taken seriously.

Lmfao sure dude. Yeah, because my information was so wrong that absolutely nothing could be done to investigate. What a strange comment.

It’s still possible you got the driver’s number wrong, or maybe someone incompetent on their end, lots of possibilities. Because yes, if there was a mistake somewhere in that chain then it would be a very different situation.

You’re telling OP not to bother filing a report. I’m telling OP my experience. We had different experiences, it’s okay.

What? Were did I say that they shouldn't send a report? You sound insufferable. Just as you are saying a positive experience, I can say my negative one too. Geez.

Also, acting like a company can just be lazy and send an automated response isn't plausible is laughable.

  • The culture of the Santa Monica blue bus is horrendous. They lack respect for pedestrians and vehicles and bicycles. And it’s almost like they purposely don’t wait for people that they see trying to get to the bus. Too bad you didn’t get the bus number so we can report it.

  • Jot down the bus # when you see it, or even the route number, location and time of day. Then contact big blue bus, they are very responsive and I’m sure would like to know about traffic violations and will take it up with the driver.

    https://www.bigbluebus.com/contact-us.aspx

I wouldn't call them very responsive. I had to jump back as a BBB took a right turn on red over my walk signal, filled out the form and just got a generic response saying they would look into it and couldn't let me know anything further about their "investigation", which I guess maybe okay it has to be that way, but not my standard for "very responsive". I mean I kinda feel like if they really looked into it they would have thought of a few more questions to ask me I dunno

I filed a complaint with the city's 311 complaint submission form but I'll file here as well, thanks!

Edit: never mind, it looks like it directs to the same form I filled out so we're good. Still thank you though!

Some guy is trying to feed his family and you're trying to get him fired.

Feeling like you're a troll atp but if I hadn't looked the dude could've killed me, going at least 40 mph.

I don't believe you have a good sense of what happened. Bus drivers don't speed up to run red lights.

You don't have to believe me but it's a weird thing to get hung up on. He fully punched it after the light turned yellow and after I had the right of way. But it doesn't matter, if SM investigates they'll see for themselves from any nearby cameras

  • Followed a bus in Van Nuys going a full 15 over on Sherman Way.

  • The city only pays you if you got "molested" 40 years ago.

my boyfriend worked for the city of Santa Monica and got some inside details on that case.. those kids were definitely molested and that man's behavior was enabled by a lot of people

Edit: also, with both the number of victims and how much the city has to payout for each, you can assume the victims are telling the truth. I believed them 100% even before getting additional details from my bf. You should as well.

My cousins sister's daddy in law told me it was all made up.

Also your boyfriend shouldn't be sharing personal legal details with you.

And your cousin's sister's daddy in law doesn't know what he's talking about lol

I'm sure your boyfriend knows everything.

Definitely has more insight than this person 3 degrees removed from you lol if they even exist

I think you might be clinical.

Says the only person I've seen doubt that Eric Uller was a child molester despite the mountain of evidence and first hand accounts against him simply because someone 3 degrees removed from you is backing him (btw if that sister/cousin dad in law exists maybe someone should check his hard drive)

Idk man I'm really assuming you're just trolling atp but this is a weird post to do it on, hope whatever's going on in your life gets better

I don't doubt Uller is a piece of shit. What I doubt is that 229 people were molested. These things have a way of spiraling out of control and people want payouts and are willing to lie to get them.

You don't realize the scope of what he did, the amount of access he had to kids, and the power/influence he held in city hall that allowed and enabled that access to kids. especially the number of kids who come from cultural backgrounds where you don't talk about this kind of stuff, hence why they only came forward as adults. And it happened over the course of decades. I'm sure there's even more who haven't come forward yet. People who worked with him well before any of this came out would call him Eric the Diddler behind his back because they would joke about how he would be at the office until 11pm almost every night for years with a child in his office.
