Good afternoon everyone
The Mod Team will be making updates to the sub's wiki in the coming weeks and months and we are looking for input from you! Please comment below with topics you would like to see in the updated wiki or any details you think should be added to existing content; the more detail, the better but be as brief as you like. Looking forward to incorporating your input!
Areas that we plan to update:
Moving to SM
- How to plan
- What to do once you get here
Living in SM
- Navigating city services
- Neighborhood primer
- Where to eat/drink/play/ volunteer, etc.
Visiting SM
- Tourist primer - where to stay, what to visit, staying safe, etc.
Thank you for working on this!
- I would add specific categories for seniors, kids and people with dogs for "where to eat/drink/play" because we get a lot of specific questions about things to do for those groups.
- I would add info on navigating city services for seniors/disabled/kids/rent control
- I'd make sure to add a list of local supermarkets and pharmacies
- I would add a listlinks of publications that specifically serve the city and the West Side, like the SMDP, Santa Monica Star, Argonaut, etc.
These are all great suggestions, thank you!

In the Downtown section, wherever is most appropriate, can you please list the services that our Ambassadors and private security provide, and the number to our 24/7 Clean and Safe number? 310-877-7731. Folks can call this number to inquire about lost and found, finding their car, jumpstarts, walking escorts back to their car at night, observed unsafe or antisocial behavior, and messes like overflowing trash cans, spills and biological messes.
Ambassadors staff information kiosks at Reed, Tongva and Palisades Park daily, as well as staff information kiosks at Parking Structure 4 and 5.
Trustroots did a series of Couch Wiki's for the major tourist cities that were originally crowd source content from the OG Couchsurfing site before it stopped being a non-profit public benefit corporation. The material was swiped but some of it was presvered. There's possibly some good ideas there of what else might be considered for this subreddit.
