They look really nice, and great cover arts. But the slight difference in book height would drive me nuts. How couldnât they make them the same?! Itâs like âyou had one jobâ situation.Â
I think it's because some stories are longer than others and each book contains 2 or 3 plus some bonuses (like Winter Edge), it must be because of that.
I donât mean the width a.k.a. page count. But the height of the books - at least from the third photo it seems that last 3 volumes are 2-3mm higher than previous ones. But it might be just the impression!
I hesitated to buy Sandman Death, but since there are apparently several stories that are already in other volumes, I didn't want to spend money on 4 stories, half of which I already know.
I just realized that I have a duplicate story (Dream's Hunter), one drawn by Craig Russell and the other by Yoshitaka Amano; why did they make two versions?
The illustrated prose version (Amano) came first. The other is a comic in the tradition of the rest of The Sandman (Russell) and hence ties it in for those who prefer that format. No other reason I think than âprose with a few illustrations =/= comic/graphic novel, pick what you like best or have bothâ (also: Amano mostly agreed to illustrate it because he thought/had been left in the belief Dream Hunters was a retelling of an original Japanese story. That was a lie, but thatâs a different story I guessâŠ).

Seriously? It's been years since I read mine, but that was the impression we were all given: oh wow this completely separate trad tale has some archetypes we're familiar with in Sandman.
Sigh. Next you're going to tell me Santa is a myth....

I have all the absolute editions and Endless nights... prized possessions....
enjoy your treasure trove....
I have no idea if "Endless Nights" is in my collection, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm having a great time right now.
what are these editions called?
I don't know, they are French editions, I don't know if they have a name.
Oh, so that's why we got the same ones haha

Ah yes, I didn't notice, well it's nothing and without your comment I would never have noticed itđ.

Merciđ€©!
I got 1-4 absolutes + Death so far

I think the absolutes keep it pretty contained
