This right here, released in 2022.is a collection of TPBS putting the original 75 issues of the original 80-90s sandman story by Neil gaiman and only Neil gaiman as the leading writer. And to my understanding, barring spin offs, is a self contained, and actually finished story.

Meaning if I just read this (2022) from front to back then I would be getting the full story, without needing to jump around comics?

Note for extra clarification: it was released as a companion piece for the Netflix series (which I haven't watched) if that helps at all

  • The main series is Sandman book 1-4. Books 5-6 are spinoffs also written by Gaiman. The Death book by Gaiman would complete the set (and is best read after vol 4).

    • The Sandman: Book Two, collecting The Sandman #21–37 (Season of Mists, the first part of Fables and Reflections, and A Game of You), Sandman Special #1, and segments from Vertigo: Winter's Edge #1–3 ("The Flowers of Romance", "A Winter's Tale", and "How They Met Themselves"). Enjoy

I bought the whole series of books about a month ago!.... It is a beautiful set, which I have only now just started to read... I'm finding them to be Amazing!!

Follow up question with no spoilers...I read the books when they first came out, so it's been awhile. Is my memory correct and the only two stories not included in the Netflix series were:

+ The 50th Issue special story. (Which was Easter Egged in the show.)

+ The story with Emperor Norton. (Which was hinted at in the show.)

    there were a few more...

but again - hints in the netflix show

  • That is the original series for sure. There are spinoffs, and even a prelude that has come out since that series. You don't need to worry about them to enjoy the series as it was originally published.

  • The 75 issues are all you need. The death spinoffs are fun but not necessary. If you finish the main series and want more, I highly recommend Endless Nights as well as Overture. They are side stories, but they intersect the main series somewhat. (Plus the main series has plenty of side stories in and of itself)

  • Books 1-4 of this edition will give you the main run (#1-75) plus a few extras. Book 5 and 6 will give you Endless Nights, Dream Hunters (both prose and comic), Overture, Midnight Theatre, a bit of The Dreaming and a few extras.

I’d just get all six because you’d really want to read Overture, Endless Nights and Dream Hunters in my view, even if they’re not part of the main run. But they put a lot of the main run into perspective.

  • 75 issues. Go!

  • There are several volumes

  • And they’re getting cheaper to buy after all the accusations

  • I read it in 2021. It came out for the 30th anniversary if memory serves me.

  • So we still support rapists?

It is possible to separate the art from the artist and are we still presuming innocent until proven guilty right ?

Remove the art from the artist when it was literally their mind. Lmao. That's always funny. But if you wanna support a rapist. That's on you bro. Hope no victim comes to you.
