He has scored 30 points in 17 games averaging 1.76 points a game.. He is on a 12 game point streak, scoring 24 points in San Jose’s last 12 games including 9 goals and 15 assists. San Jose is also 8-4-0 in their last 12 games. I love this guy.

Celerbini is really going to have all the franchise records when its all said and done. Marleau played 21 seasons and amassed 1111 points. Celebrini already has 123 points in a season and a half (113 games to be exact). Jumbo had 804 assists for the Sharks in regular season games. Celebrini has 79 already, almost 10% of Thornton's assists and the kid doesn't turn 20 until June. So glad he's on team teal, you can genuinely tell how much the fans appreciate what he's already done for the franchise.
Celerbini is a hilarious typo. Just saying it that way cracks me up.
Ya'll got any more a dem der Mackler Celerbriners?
I hit my Celebrinis 😭

Asking this as a newer hockey fan, I know that Celebrini signed a 3 year contract. Do you think he’ll continue to stay a SJ shark and become a franchise player (same way Steph is for the warriors?). Not sure how cap space/free agency and trading work in the NHL but would hope Celebrini would sign for an extension!
The 3-year contract is a standard entry-level deal. There's a lot of structure to how NHL players start their careers, and the teams that drafted them have significant control until they're like 27. Barring a huge breakdown between a player and their team, young stars like Celebrini tend to stay with whoever brought them to the dance.
The Sharks have a history of treating players well, and they're building a good team around him. Celebrini being in the Bay long-term is a pretty safe bet.
Awesome :) Good to know he’ll be with the sharks for a while!
Macklin Celebrini's ELC (Entry Level Contract) is set to expire at the end of next season in 2027. He will be considered a "Restricted Free Agent", or RFA until 2031 (age 25), which means the Sharks are the only team that can sign him until then. This means at bare minimum, he's a Shark until 2031 unless he gets traded, which would require some kind of disaster or breakdown of apocalyptic proportions between Celebrini and the team.
Outside of the way players rights work in the NHL, it's worth noting that Celebrini's father (Rick) works for the Warriors as the Director of Sports Medicine. So while he wasn't born here, he does have roots/Bay Area connections. If the Sharks can put together a good team around Celebrini and/or win the cup, then there's no reason he won't be a Shark for at least the next 15 years if not for life.
There are many rules that govern Entry Level Contracts, but for the vast majority of players, the standard is three years at $775k-$975k per year. This applies to new players signing their first contract in the NHL.
Restricted Free Agents are not allowed to negotiate with other teams until they are 27 or they have played 7 seasons in the league. It is uncommon for star players of Celebrini's caliber to leave their team as an RFA unless something goes terribly wrong (ex: the rebuild fails, the team sucks, relations between the front office and player collapse, and they request a trade).
Celebrini can sign a new contract with the Sharks as soon as this next off season (July 1st). If he signs prior to September, he can get a maximum of 8 years on his next contract. If he signs after, then the maximum drops to 7.
The main reasons a star player would hypothetically sign for less than max term is if they want more money (the salary cap is expected to go up meaning bigger contracts in the future), or if they don't believe in the team and want to see if they will get better. I have no reason to believe that either will apply to Celebrini, but there is precedent even if the context is different (see Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews).
I imagine we’ll see his name quite a lot on the Sharks season records in the coming years
I live near Montreal. 10 years-ish ago, I chose a west division favorite team and I chose the sharks.
I'm so excited now, cuz I see young kids wearing Sharks merch in my city, cuz of him.
The Habs are young and exciting to watch and so are the Sharks! What a great time to be a fan of this combo ! I would love it if in a couple of years, both teams would face off in the Stanley cup final !
Same here. Always been a sharks fan. What a time to be a fan
I'm a Sharks and Habs fan... Didn't grow up anywhere close to either city!
All this with Smith on IR. Crazy what hurting a guys best friend can inspire. Wish we had him against EDM back in 2006. Something tells me even in utero the kid would have come out after Raffi Torres and danced him and closed out that series.
I was at that game in Vegas!
