Not really a whole lot to say other than I finally made it to 100k. I am in the lumber/building materials industry and this was the result of a 365 day full effort to make this happen. Ive been with the company for 4 years in March next year, and started at 38k/year.
Anyways - you don't have many people to talk to and celebrate with when it comes to money, but after seeing 100k+ on a pay stub for the year, I just wanted to post this and celebrate!
Thanks for listening to my not so subtle brag haha

Ignore Lord_Asswipe or whatever his name was, great work and things are likely to get even better as you build your network
My question for you sales folks is always: how do you actually find these clients? Are you cold-calling, are you knocking in doors? Do you purchase leads?
I run a business that (begrudgingly) involved a fair amount of sales upfront to build my recurring billings, and thankfully everything comes in through referrals now
Brag away! Huge milestone to reach and you should feel proud for working hard enough to earn your way there.
Appreciate you bro. All signs point to continued salary growth moving forward too!
A sales role barely clearing 6-figure implies you’re not that great at business development. I guess way to go for sticking it out for so long in something that isn’t aligned with your natural disposition?
Lmao let me break it down for you. Joined the company in 2022 working in the yard with zero previous knowledge of anything construction or LBM related. By summer 2023 I was brought inside to learn the software and the selling side of the product. By January 2024 I was on the road in full swing. So 2 full years of a sales role. When I started I had never done any type of sales role and didnt even know the vernacular. In 2025 my sales book was just north of $2 million dollars, and I directly grew the business 30% through new business and expanded portfolios of existing customers. They sold 5 million dollars in 2024. In 2025 we sold just over 6.5, again, with about 2.1 million on my books.
So to respond to your negative donkey response, I am actually very good at this, and grew my total compensation package from 38k to around 130k in 3 years and am the 2nd highest paid employee in the company. Tell me of the last time you grew your salary 250% in that time period.
🤡
Ignore him. Fellow Canadian here, rooting for you!
You got this bud!
The original comment was so uncalled for, keep rocking it!
I own my company. I don’t rely on someone else to tell me what I’m worth. Keep it up, slugger.
You must be fun at parties
Not all Business Development roles are sales buddy.
And most business development roles are well over 6-figures, especially if they’re corporate development or strategic planning, and not sales, in nature. Is this sub just a cheerleading session for unearned bragging rights? Get real.
Canadian salaries are lower than the US. You're applying US expectations to a different market. Anyway, I agree with Ernie.
I’m from Canada, so I guess cope harder?
