I'm always on the hunt for better opportunities. My next goal is to become manager of my sales team, or job hunt to become a loan officer / something like that
Becoming the manager of your sales team will open up doors beyond financial services. Fintech/Software companies would take you in a heartbeat as an SDR/BDR manager
What does you job entail and how did you get into it? I previously tried sales but the two companies I worked for were ASS to say the least. A few of my friends have fallen into the solar sales trap after high school and the ones without rich families seem broke asf since the industry is scammy.
Almost all sales jobs are ass and designed to make the owners as much profit as possible. Take car sales for instance. They have to move something like 30 cars a month as an individual salesman in order to really break the 100k mark from my understanding. I did heavy equipment sales and made decent money but I also made my employer well over 1 million in profit before I left after 7 years. He got a million+ while I got roughly 300k in total. I was making about 50k before taxes in what was a low cost of living area before covid.
It was 20% in the end but they also provided no health insurance or retirement so I didn't even make 20% because I had to invest into that myself unfortunately. I am now a travel nurse and do way better than I ever did as a salesman. Making more than double in a year than I did in sales.
I work at home and basically send like 10 emails a day. I don't do anything. Our rates/apr does the work for us. We have one of the lowest rate in my industry so we get constant application flow.
Youāre probably doing something wrong in your current role based on your comments about workload. You need to find that next job before your bosses figure it out.
Nice, thatās awesome! Donāt listen to the ones saying you must get a degree. Clearly you donāt need one. Experience is worth a lot more. Good communication skills. Iām in sales too working as an account manager for a software company. 105k. No income tax. Great benefits such as fully paid medical for me and dependents. 40 days pto and a $7500 match on my Roth. Fully remote. Iām grateful and feeling blessed.
Worked on the other side (dealership) during Covid for my exās family, same in early 20s. Was making $500-550 a week working 10-7 pm M-F and 10-4 Saturday, no benefits, basically 1099 but they treated me like w2. Commute and mileage alone on my car was enough to write it all off. Remember one week I had to get brakes done and they charged me $400+ for single axle. This is one hour outside of DC.
I knew it was better on the side of the screen when I was entering apps but I didnāt know it could be so much better so soon
One of my agents did $680k in sales this year. For a second there I thought he was going to have a better year than me, but his Christmas transaction fell through so heās probably drinking himself to sleep this whole week (something like $140k in it for him, would be the biggest in his 5 year career by landslide).
He sells real estate and construction work for me. Straight commission on RE, hourly + commission on construction.
Heās mid 30ās.
Sky is the limit in sales. Just need to āembrace the suck.ā Mandatory āthatās what s/he saidā for that last bit.
So your dad or your dadās buddy got you your job, cool story. No way someone falls into a job like this with no education without some serious connections.
My parents don't speak English and are immigrants. Did this all myself, and I'm so proud of it. This is a story that sounds too good to be true, but I'm all for it.
Early 20s making six figures with zero education? Yes that is a cut above most early 20s, even those who went to college, letās be real here. Just because it isnāt a unicorn doesnāt mean itās not a good bit above average
This is awesome. In a career like this, with success this young, what would be the next steps to elevate your income/position?
I'm always on the hunt for better opportunities. My next goal is to become manager of my sales team, or job hunt to become a loan officer / something like that
Why not work fixed income trading and/or sales?

If youre mad about getting 25% of the profit you made the company, you will never be happy.
That is an insane return on your work.

You said it's pure dedication in the header. But also say you don't do anything. Which is it?
Pure dedication to get to where I am. Now I just sit back and relax.
In the corporate world, the higher you go, the less you do.
Wait until you get into the Corporate World.
Nope. I actually work for a fortune 100 Company as a PM. Work my ass off.
Ok yay here is ur cookie šŖ
BTW~ you sound like someone without an education.
Why are you coming for me? Genuinely curious what I did to you.
The cookie part was pretty uncalled for honestly.
Whatās wrong with cookies?
Wait until you get a role where you actually have to work.
I am looking for a role where I actually work. It's getting boring
Youāre probably doing something wrong in your current role based on your comments about workload. You need to find that next job before your bosses figure it out.
Fake
And luck my friend. Congratulations but it's more than just pure dedication. Luck is on your side
This is called luck. Take advantage.
Use the money to get your degree. trust me, in 30 years youāll be very glad you did.
Thereās nothing like being 50 years old, trying to get a job without a college degree in this market.
Yes, I'll plan to do some schooling. It may take me a while, but I'll have a degree by then. I want to do a bachelors between 8 years
Look at WGU. Might work best for you since you work from home.
Is wgu looked down upon by employers?
wow! i have a 4yr triple major degree in Chemistry, neuroscience & psychology with a minor in bio & make $38,235/yr in my field. good on you!!
Nice, thatās awesome! Donāt listen to the ones saying you must get a degree. Clearly you donāt need one. Experience is worth a lot more. Good communication skills. 7500 match on a Roth sounds like pure bullshit to me
In what sense?
What the fuck do you mean āno income taxā?
He probably means no state income tax. Thatās ā what the f..ā he means.
𤣠thatās fucking right
Whatās a dealer manager?
I manage relationships with dealerships for my bank. To make sure we get their business.
Whenever you go to a dealership to get something financed, they will send your loan application to me.
Cool
You must really think your important? Youāre a small middle man and your paycheck is poverty level in NYC
You sound extremely envious and bitter
Actually Iām very happy and blessed. I called out OPās arrogance and lies. Maybe get off reddit once in awhile
Mhm
Stay miserable ā¹ļø womp womp

With your experience as a finance manager, you can get into my side of things easily.
Unrelated, but do you get any bonuses or perks for working for a bank?
Not for my particular bank
This sounds like a fun job as a tech. I would so leave the automotive tech field to do this instead.Ā
Uāll stagnate⦠I can promise you that.
Nice job Iām in the car business what market are you in ?

Stay out of SoCal. Itās my Turf. Lol
So your dad or your dadās buddy got you your job, cool story. No way someone falls into a job like this with no education without some serious connections.

How about your parents learn the language of the country they are living in
Pure dedication lol. You sure are a cut above the rest of us!
Donāt put him down, 6 figures in your early 20s in sales is something to be proud of
I mean sure but he ain't exactly a unicorn.
Early 20s making six figures with zero education? Yes that is a cut above most early 20s, even those who went to college, letās be real here. Just because it isnāt a unicorn doesnāt mean itās not a good bit above average
Again, you donāt need to put him down
Never said I was a unicorn, but seems like you think I am one.
I'm just here to share my salary and to show people you don't need college for a good salary. Thanks for the interaction tho.
Early 20ās, 6 figures, thatās above average. Obviously your location plays a huge role. Regardless, thatās great, thank you for sharing.
Brother take a chill pillā¦as I saidā¦uāll stagnate. I: okay tho. At least u got ur reddit community!
You like using the word stagnate a lot
Dont listen to him bro
Miserable people need ti bring others down

I made 127k over 30 yrs ago in my twenties with no degree. Not a hard thing to do
Wow that's crazy, if it was 30 years ago. I bet you're making millions now, I hope!
It costs you nothing to not be an asshole, and yet here you are
Congrats ! Whatās net ? I remember 10 years ago I did my best. Check salary was $90k gross cellphone sales rep .
