Okay so i used to have a manual hyundai elantra that after a few years of owning i started the process of swapping out the suspension to safari it. Unfortunately got totaled by a red light runner last year, but now im looking for another one because it was fun. I'm seeing automatics are way cheaper which got me thinking, would automatic or manual be better for offroad/safari? All the videos i see are for 4x4 rock crawling

TL;DR Is automatic or manual better for our use?

  • Manuals are almost always more fun. Manuals are definitely more challenging during actual offroading.

True, but I'd still go manual just so you can get some actual power out of the little engine. If you know what you're doing manual can be amazing off-road. I've gotten myself out of ditches in winter by rocking it back and forth 1st-reverse and it just popped right out. Couldn't do that truck with an auto (too much lag).
