My Trinitron only has s-video without a mod. I got this s-video box for my all s-video setup from aliexpress, and it looks so good in person.
I also got this adapter that I've never seen anywhere else, to where I can use Saturn controllers on the Genesis. Using a model 2 of course, imho the best controller there is (except for the weight of it. Thinking about adding some weights inside to add soke heft).
I'm usually not into modern releases as much as the classics, but considering we didn't get a copy of this in America.. this collectors edition The Wily Wars is so good and comes with so much. Well worth it. Only released on the sega channel.. like Pulseman. I really think Pulseman would be popular today had they done a physical release in America, honestly. That's my only bootleg game I own. The rest I'm building up my collection in box with manual because Genesis is surprisingly affordable. I had to get the model 1 back over the model 2, since it's what I had as a kid and has the look and nostalgia for me.
Loving this setup so far!
Fantastic!
S-Video looks awesome on CRTs.
Yea, ive found out through this process just how awesome s-video is :)
Sorry if slightly off topic buuut where did you take that amazing gameboy carpet?🤣
Lol, it's actually really cheap and I usually dont support things like this but I had to have it. They are on aliexpress haha Be aware its more like a fuzzy bathmat though than a real tufted rug. But it looks good and does the job especially for its price.
Ahahah thank you man it will be perfect! Have a nice Xmas ❤️
You too!
Now I am going to have to open up my mega man the Willy wars.
I have had it for over a year untouched.
S-video was always for the nerdy electronics people back when Genesis came out. Now you know why. Looks way better than composite and almost as good as SCART.
well the model 1 doesnt actually have an svideo port, I believe its rgb?. so maybe during the model 2 days or they had the rare Japanese s-video box? But for sure!
Yeah model 1 has no s-video, but my comment was about how only the nerds used s-video at that time. When it released almost everyone was using RF and not even composite. Which is even worse than composite. None of us knew how much better it could look. We just used the hookups that came in the box, turned the TV to channel 3 and played our games.
Thats facts for sure. I used that as a kid for some systems, the coax haha
Yep, coax RF adapters came in the box and that’s what we used. By N64 composite was becoming more common, but when Genesis came out only high end TVs had s-video, and most of the TVs a kid would have in their play room were cheap and probably just had coax. I know our TV we played NES on had coax only back then.
Any dot crawl noticeable from using an external encoder?
I have a similar device that is multi purpose rather than console specific like yours but haven't used it yet.
The one I have was sold as a mister addon rgb to composite/svideo and has the pal/NTSC switch. It uses an AD724 encoder which is very good but not as good as the new Mega AV mod which uses the AD725 and has a phase locked sub carrier so no dit crawl
