Hey I’m setting up this mangmi for my son , I think he is ready , he plays on my Xbox and PlayStation , he has played on my RG35xxh, RG556, and his own ( secret game console lite) , now he is attempting to play on my new Retroid pocket G2 but the issue is he gets bored or sometimes I think the boredom comes because he has too many options and games to go through or too much going on in my personal devices .. I’m basically here seeing if anyone has any ideas or games that are great for young ADHD/Autistic kids I don’t want him to get overwhelmed or stressed out because he needs help in a game and gets frustrated so does anyone have any systems or Roms they recommend for young kids , he loves Spider-Man , sonic , Mario , Minecraft etc and willing to try new games
If you are looking for roms: Go to the link in https://www.reddit.com/r/Roms/comments/m59zx3/roms_megathread_40_html_edition_2021/

The lego games series spans many platforms and many are multiplayer and fun enough to play with him if you wanted. Perfect for young children. Depending on his aptitude level, maybe kingdom hearts? Thats a great series that has tons of retro presence and is disney themed.
Thank you didn’t even think of kingdom hearts and I was just helping a friend getting into emulation and just helped him download it lol
My autistic 7 year old will be receiving a g2 for Christmas. His latest special interest is retro video games, so it’ll be fun to see him comb through all of the old systems. I specifically chose es-de as the frontend because you can tag certain games as kid games, and then you can set it in kid mode & have the front end filter it down to only the games & apps you want them to see. As for specific Roms, I prioritized old Mario, Smash Bros, & Pokémon because the new versions are currently popular with his peers and I’m trying to encourage him to talk to classmates about things they have in common.
Thank you for the feedback !
You should check out the LEGO games as well as the Nickelodeon games.
There's a lot of Spongebob games for consoles up to PS2 if you think he might be interested in that. Specifically Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom and Spongebob Squarepants: The Movie.
VeggieTales: LarryBoy and the Bad Apple was a really fun game when I was younger.
Definitely don't pass up on WWE games if you think he might be into those as well. Smackdown vs. Raw games were integral to my PS2 era.
The Spyro games could be very interesting too for him.
A lot of movie based games such as Shrek 2, Madagascar, Over the Hedge (I hear about a lot when it comes to movie-based games), Cars (the first Disney one) was very cool, and The Incredibles was one I've heard of a bunch.
The Simpsons: Hit & Run is one of the best games of the PS2 era and has the freedom to easily get lost in the world for a someone who just wants to explore and mess around.
Destroy All Humans 1/2 could be fun for the same reason as Hit & Run.
Thank you ! Your awesome appreciate the reply
I have two nieces, one who is 7 years old and one who is 4 years old.
the oldest one gets nervous easily and doesn't play for very long.
the youngest is interested in challenges, becomes serious, and tries to overcome them, even if the challenge is simple for adults.
the youngest in the game "Barbie - The Princess and the Pauper (USA)" [GBA] last week managed to collect all the golden apples in the first stage on her own and without supervision.
I bought these controllers for them and I recommend them:

I have this: https://www.8bitdo.com/m30/ plus 1 PS4 joystick and others.
at this age, they don't necessarily need to complete the challenges. They become interested in simple things like jumping around randomly and things like that.
however, I have these ROMs on a computer with access to them.

it's a list with a more feminine slant, but there are some games that should appeal to boys as well. I always promise myself I'll expand the list, improve the games included... but I haven't done it yet.
generally speaking, besides Barbie, princesses, and ponies, they also like Mario and Sonic.
if you have success with other games, please let me know.
