I'm pretty sure that mentality came from the Drastic emulator, since it didn't need any additional setup to play, I remember booting Pokemon Platinum from there with no issues, I could be wrong tho
You know the sad part? Its because it came with the BIOS like no care about Nintendo at all lmao so its not even a question of "its wasn't necessary for drastic" and more that "by helping they dumbfied people" kek
