Hi guys! I’m a new writer and new to this subreddit. I have a general storyline I want to write about I think, but I have no idea if it’ll be any good or where to even start 😂 very very basically it’s about a shy(ish) girl who meets a guy at a bar and sparks FLY. But then he moves 12 hours away. He made her realize that she is attractive, and that boosts her confidence but she never sees him again.. untillll she made it to her equestrian championships in his hometown. That’s the very general idea. Where do I go from here 😭
Well mate sounds like a nice start. include some drama like the guy's mother has a woman all picked out for him and keeps thrusting her upon her son. He isnt into her but she is into him and when the strange girl from out of town arrives the drama really starts. This woman is trying to win the contest but then sees that guy she met. The first guy in a long time to actually make her feel special. So she tries to talk to him but then the other girl gets in the way. So you can have two people that are very attracted to one another but the mother and her pick for her son keep trying to screw it all up.
then her horse breaks its leg and she goes to the hospitol and the guy has a big fight with his mother and her pick for him. When the horse riding girl wakes he is there holding her hand and telling her that he loves her.
I may have gone a little overboard but I think you can have alot of fun writing this story. Hell even include a fun little romance between her hourse and the guy's horse. Be well mate and good luck to you!

I'm new here as well. Been writing a while though. Have you looked into any plot structures (3 act paradigm, save the cat, etc.?) I like to start with a a working title that sums it up as that's the most important text. Then I like to choose a protagonist and antagonist. The antagonist can be a force that gets in the way from the protagonist getting in the way of what he or she wants (subsconsciously or consciously.) the antagonistic force is what the protagonist struggles with. For romance, it could be someone's haunted past, or a voice in their head saying they're not good enough. or it could be a rival love (love triangle), etc. I can't write prose until I have a basic outline figured out to guide me. Hope that helps.
That does help!! I’m completely new to writing, but the main plot of this is loosely based on a true story and I thought it would make a good novel haha so I just have no idea where to start! I will look into plot structures. Do you use any sort of templates or anything to organize your thoughts?
Just an unprofessional advice from another “beginner”: start writing the scene where they meet! That seems to be a very exciting core scene. So just try and start your first draft, dive in and see how it is. To break the ice, if that makes sense. (I like write scenes relatively free and in a flow, and then parallel work on the plot and adjust and see what works and what needs to change. Just an idea :)
Write wherever you’re drawn to first. You can always fill in the timeline later.
Also add some tension. Him leaving is a great start. Now that she’s attractive-feeling, have her in a few romances trying out that new hotness, because I think that what most humans would do. When she realizes there is something special about that one specific guy after a few yuckos, it’ll feel even more special.
When she rides the horse (not familiar with these things), maybe she falls off and is trampled and breaks a few ribs and has a head injury. He just happens to be there and out of plain ol’ human dignity, visits her in the hospital.
But oddly enough in the hospital, there’s a super hot doctor that reeeeeaally likes this girl so the male protagonist feels kind of insecure about it and convinces his hot female friend to accompany him to visit just so he won’t feel so insecure.
The girl feels jealous and realizes omg I think I like that Chad, so what about that rich doctor.
But then the doctor gets jealous and “accidentally” poisons her so that she almost dies and has to stay there longer…..
Etc etc…. So many way you can go with this
