The last couple seasons I consistently have got to gc1 even peaked at gc2 but now I’m matched up with what seems to be people that either don’t want to play the game or people that are scared to challenge the ball. Due to these circumstances I’ve dropped down to c2. Like what tf is wrong with these matchmaking bro. I swear in season 17 it was rare getting someone incompetent or someone you genuinely didn’t think belonged anywhere near where ur at(I understand having a bad game, but the way these players are playing it’s like this is how they’ve always been). I just think it’s either time to retire this game til one of my other gc mates return to rocket league or just give up on ranked cause this shits getting ridiculous.
Surely I’m not the only one dealing with this!

Every season nearly 1k mmr gets squished together in gc3-ssl.
You know how 4v4 was kinda dead on arrival bc they started everyone at 600mmr? Well that pretty much happens every season in ssl. Zen and a random gc3 start at 1660mmr. It takes nearly half the season for this to untangle itself every single season.
The result is a lot of frustrated players due to the fact that every mate is widely varying in skill. People get shoved up and down by getting carried or pulled down by a series of much lower/higher skilled mates.
I ended last season at 1950. Rn I’m at 1700. Unable to climb as the 2.2k guys are right above me in mid 1700-1800 being held back by zen not climbing back up enough yet. That’s why you are where u are.
Its been this way pretty much since the introduction of SSL. They’ve never addressed it and since we are quite few up here, any post about it gets ignored. They will never fix it. Just look how they learned nothing from the 4v4 launch and went a head and did the exact same thing with heatseeker.
I tried the mode, got a gold players on my team 5 games in a row. I’m now basically in silver despite being ssl in 2s. How is this fun for anyone?
As a gc2 you are better of not playing for the first 6 weeks if you don’t want to have you ego shattered by getting pushed down and held down for the first few weeks.
This ”solution” to rank inflation is so bad it is literally one of the biggest reasons teammates rage on each other.
It's all the way down lol. I was plat 3/diamond 1 and faced a bunch of people with GC player titles and teammates that were in gold 😂😭
As much as I know that you experience the rank reset to some degree, as someone who was gone thru all the ranks I can confidently say that it is on a whole other lvl of bad up here.
It took me less than 1k hours to get to gc, another 3-4k to ssl. The difference between your avg gc and and just avg low ssl is bigger than plat-gc. Imagine plat and gc getting reset into the same rank. That’s what’s happening up here, every single season.
What are your thoughts on longer seasons with larger resets? Maybe add splits with rewards like LOL does?
IMO anything closer towards a hard reset is a step in the wrong direction. What I think they need to do is to raise the maximum reset value from 1660 to let’s say 2k so zen and the other top tier players don’t start in gc2 and a player like myself (1900-2k) starts in gc3. This would already make our games not borderline broken for 6 weeks and lower ranks would be pretty much completely fixed.
It’s honestly like they just forgot to do it when they added gc2 gc3 and ssl. Forgot, didn’t know, or didn’t care. EPIC stuff.
Ok going off that I would say possibly a few soft resets a year and maybe a moderate reset to start the new years??
I think it could be kept as is, as in a soft reset per season and a season being ~3 Months. That said, changes to length and structure could absolutely also work. The most important part is that they raise the maximum reset value so that gc3-zen keep a fair distance from the get go. It’s too wide of a skill-gap to squish together no matter what.
I don't have a problem with 3 month resets either. Maybe if they do softer resets for majority of seasons and maybe more moderate resets for new year's starts would equal out overall 🤷🏼 the higher elos play more naturally so larger resets aren't a problem in moderation. I actually enjoy spread out seasons where you can climb with everyone. The initial 4s season was actually enjoyable to solo queue. I only ever lost if the other team was a full party and eventually had too long of queue times and stopped.
While that might be the case for you, it wasn’t for the 99%.
I absolute wanted it to succeed, but starting everyone at 600mmr was what killed it. Post after post was made by everyone from low-high hating the mixed lobbies. Took a single week for me to reach mmr where no games could be found anymore. And just like that it was dead on arrival in terms of becoming a house hold mode in the game…which I was hoping it would.
Epic being epic learned nothing and went ahead and launched heatseeker the same way.
I played 5 games, 5 games were I got a gold on my team that ended up just quitting half the time. I don’t even blame them. They were novice player just checking out a mode for the first time. Checked it out, didn’t like it and bounced.
I’d argue such a player should never find themselves in the same lobby as someone with 5k hours sitting in the highest rank. And just like that I’m never touching it again as it was a complete waste of time for 30minutes straight.

Lol I do get that, 3/10 of my placements for 4s involved RLCS contenders and regional finalists 😂 they did say in the patch notes they altered some starting elos though based on other modes but I know it absolutely wasn't enough. I actually used to play a good amount of 4s in various groups and lobby takeovers though before the mode was removed from casual.
Heatseeker no bueno. It always curves more than I think it should. I'm top 500 for saves and can't hit that ball for shit 😂
You’re consistently playing with worse players as you lose and drop rank. It’s not their fault honestly, you’re in C2 now they don’t play like GC’s. And that’s the switch you’ll have to make, you have to dominate the ball and create opportunities rather than waiting on better teammates to create those opportunities for you.
Basically, you’re in C2, you have to start playing like it and stop expecting Zen to be your teammates in those lobbies.
Sad truth. Key takeaway is you have to play differently with differently skilled teammates.
Learned this long ago and only play cas now. Loved this game for a long time but it's dead once you get screwed by rank reset and don't have the strength to carry yourself all the way back.
I know not to expect them to carry their weight (to an extent) or play like zen cause that’s not in their abilities to do so, it’s just annoying running into so many people who think they’re zen when they can’t even stick to basic rotations(also I understand they most likely don’t understand what that means but you’d think me dribbling the ball, they’ll know not to go for the ball right, but no) I think that to truly get out of champ for a gc player you quite literally have to do everything, be everywhere, be zen. I just get so frustrated at this cause most the time my “teammates” talk trash to me in the chat(most the time I ignore it cause it’s like a toddler trying to fight a teenager)but when it happens constantly I lose brain cells
