Hi, I am looking for opinions on Rathfarnham area to rent / buy a house, particularly near Nutgrove Shopping center area. I am completely unfamiliar with the area. We are a young couple, no kids. Wondering how safe the area is
- How safe is the area? Which spot/corner should I avoid?
- How are the kids / teens doing? Are they unruly, roaming as a group or g@ng, and harass people, or r@cism? How (bad) about antisocial behavior?
- How is traffic?
- What roads should we avoid?
I am most worried about the kid or thug there. Like from Finglas/Clondakin, they come as a group, hoody, scooter, and destroy everything like a storm. I heard my friend told that Kimmage is getting gentrified, but really worth asking.

Unless you're coming from a country like Japan or Singapore, everywhere in Ireland is quite safe.

Not sure what to tell you then, because the handful of East Asian countries with almost no crime are the exception, not the rule, in the world. I'm sorry if you had a traumatic experience with teenagers in the past, but there are groups of kids who walk around together in all countries.
If safety is your priority you can't really get any better than Rathfarnham. It is a mostly quiet area and on the posher side. Sure gangs of teens hang out but there is very little antisocial behaviour.
what should I do when encounter by them (in Rathfarnham) ? In Finglas, it is literally "my day is wasted, RUN AWAY"
You just ignore them, and they will ignore you.

Used to live on Castleside Drive. Now I live in Churchtown (next to Rathfarnham) but we go to Nutgrove shopping centre and Loretto playground all the time. Never seen anything antisocial in this area.
You won’t get much safer than Rathfarnham.
