I make my own Christmas magic. Especially since having my daughter I’m determined to go all out for her. It’s worth the effort, because it does keep the magic alive
Christmas magic takes work. Before, all the work was done by your parents (usually mum, tbh) and now you have to do it yourself.
Set up your own traditions, decorate your house with a loved one, while listening to christmas songs, (and drinking, if that's your drug of choice) donate a present to a charity, wear a silly hat - ots up to you to make it magical.
Right there with ya. My dad passed away 14 years ago in December , he was the spark of Christmas for me. Now I decorate for him and for my inner child. But it's painful....feels forced.

Only fades if you allow it. You just realized it takes effort you aren't willing to put in.
