I’m pretty new to the game, I downloaded it right when Siege X came out. Right away, it struck me how many people I saw with “xim” in their username. I also very regularly see ximmers spam crouch or do extremely fast 360’s if they get the final killcam. Are lots of these people flaunting their cheats just 12 year olds being edgy? It feels like this is happening almost every game in my plat lobbies.
Because ubi, sony, and ms suck phat horsecocks and won't nut up to console bans the way it should be
Granted if you do shady stuff or non shady in the market stores they have no issue banning you at that point

I don’t think Microsoft and Sony can ban someone for using xim. They can do their best to provide a way for developers to monitor I/O but that’s as far as they can go. Developers can ban from the game, but that’s assuming they have a reliable means of identifying XIM users.
If your eyes work, cheaters on console are pretty simple to spot 95% of the time. Sony and ms can. In their tos's using hardware or software to circumvent game enabled input restrictions is considered a breach. Back in the 360 days you could lose your account and console permanently for changing the colour of your avatar to purple. They can, they're just too greedy and lazy.
They do it because they know Ubi will do nothing to stop them. I put xim in my name too, but as a joke. My in game nickname was invaderxim for the longest time

This. Just like in child-rearing – if the child never gets consequences for undesired behaviours, how is it going to stop those behaviours?
Basically, all cheater in Siege have long ago realised that there are no risk / consequences for this kind of bevhaviour.
They're emotionally stunted and have no personality or ambition in life beyond collecting champ charms and gloating their "achievments" online
I no longer play this game, but the topic of discussion kind of peaked my interest. I don't cheat, nor do I know anyone that does so I don't have any way to know if this is true, but to me. Ximmers are "leveling the playing field" in their mind. What I mean is that they are unable to advance to the next level to appease their ego, so they try to bring good players to their level by cheating. I think this mindset is how the majority of cheaters feel and they likely think they're the Robin Hoods of gaming. I don't think this is only with Siege but most of modern gaming in general. As to the "why would they put XIM" in their name (if that's even what XIM in the name implies, could just be someone looking for attention).. it's likely they think that Ximming is the morally right choice and that they want to have the recognition of being in the right.
I do want to add that this is only for people that are subtle cheaters; blatant cheaters are just cheating to ruin someones day or wanting a feeling of superiority over other players.
Feel free to tell me I'm wrong, however, I do feel that gaming is normalizing cheating and that eventually, you'll be considered on the wrong side of history if you don't cheat.

With the push of Esports being more mainstream, we see more high end players in any game. As in most other facets of life, seeing the top end of a particular genre will interest those who cannot achieve top end results. Those who want to achieve higher, will inevitably find a way to achieve it, even if it isn't legitimate.
Not just Esports, even more mainstream - Streaming. I'd say the choice to cheat is more prevalent if the person isn't entertaining to watch. Unfortunately, streaming in general is taking a nose dive in the whole morality department, whether it's IRL or gaming, it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better (if ever).
Because the game is a 10 year old toxic mess and always has been a toxic mess.

Pc cheaters would be doing the same if all they got for cheating was a slap on the wrist and folks to go play 10 quick match games to be able to play ranked again
90% of people who have xim in their name aren't actually ximmers they're just trying to troll
You can't do 360's with a xim. That's a controller player
