Now with more experience from JC and the Team and Not letting that one Tournament Match Happen again. Could get nice, could become Ubisoft Microtransaction hell with Steel being useless and new heros only unlocking for Money. Give another Publisher the rights for For Honor 2 in hindsight
It was just a really bad tournament. It was right when the game first came out. Being a tournament people were playing optimally, and doing that meant abusing some of the most goofy techs ever seen in a video game. People were unlock zoning and sprint attacking in duels. Which should not be happening, and it looked ridiculous.
I remember not that long ago, I saw a post about how someone wouldn’t play games that require kernel level access for anti-cheat. Most of the replies told them it’s not an issue and that they would never need to worry about hackers gaining access.
As someone who doesn’t play things that want kernel level access on my PC, it’s interesting to see the two events so close together. I hope the source code being compromised is incorrect, but it seems Ubisoft is playing it smart at the moment.
Yet the hackers can’t do this for all the real shit crap that exists lol all those anonymous threats fall flat after all that talk.
Ubisoft is going to do some fine combing to their system to catch all the abusers of the hacks which unfortunately will only be the players and not the hackers
I mean the messages they were giving out in the ban waves in my opinion were probably targeting the Epstein files which we only got 2 gigabytes out of 200 of it .I’m sure they did it for other reasons but to get people to open their eyes more.
It's because digital Robin Hood's straight up don't happen. At least, not when it comes to the government.
The govt. snaps up as many skilled hackers as it can because they know they're dangerous. Hackers willingly get employed by the govt. because it's a better gig than being a cybercriminal and unless you got a strong as hell moral and ethical compass it's hard to reject a fat stack of cash on ideological grounds. In short, it makes the govt. well suited to defending against hackers and the govts. power, especially in recent years, makes it way more dangerous to hack them than some company.
Yeah dk why they did it for real. Like last time with Sony and the interview movie. No true reason on this one. But the files is what I got from it MJ lyrics, Israel, “what else are they hiding from us”.
The Result: Using these stolen credentials, they bypassed the firewall and logged directly into Ubisoft’s internal Git repositories as if they were senior developers, allowing them to download terabytes of source code undetected.
What do you mean? Sure, "bypass the firewall" is textbook non-technical person lingo, but why could they not log to a VPN with stolen credentials that allows them access to all Git repos?
Denuvo is owned by a different company. It's inserted into games by developers after the game is made and often taken out after a certain period of time because it costs money to keep Denuvo in the game.
And even then, one of the things I'm pretty sure about is that corporations don't give reliable info unless it's to cover their asses. We probably will never know the extent of the breach.
When everyone got banned and all the inventories got unlocked they just posted "a slight incident happened".. their public guy is the biggest misinformation.
Source code can tell someone everything about the game, for Ubisoft it probably is more an IP/Copyright thing as now people can see how their systems run
For players the likely scenario is better made/ undetectable hacks
If a game is a house then the source code isn't just a copy of the house like we all get, it's the blueprints.
If you want to mod a game (renovate the house) then it might involve some trial and error to find the part you're looking for. Can this wall be removed? Where are the structural components? Where's the wiring and plumbing? With the blueprints you can see all those things exactly instead of hunting them down by making guesses and breaking things to look for the bits you need.
This is why open source software is a category some people care about. For consumers it's often not noticeable but for some people the source code is extremely useful.
The title might as well be "I had no idea that hackers were doing something that literally all hackers try to do" like wdym "I had no idea they were stealing source code" why the fuck else would they hack something this deeply? Just to fuck around? No they want the source code so they can make cheats that get around the anticheat system better
Cheat dev, it’s easier to understand what’s happening by reading the source code than taking apart the rainbowsix.exe that Ubisoft has intentionally put in (and I’ll add they’ve done a half decent job too) a bunch of effort into making harder
Plus the way battleye works this could also be some of the custom detections that’s been working against the major cheats that Ubis been doing a half decent job at keeping down
Edit: if it’s even true. The reporting around this is that they didn’t get the source code
Why would they store source code on their multiplayer servers/cloud instances? The two teams should have almost no crossover, so the hacked credentials shouldn’t work for both.
After over a decade of players begging them to address server issues and security… they finally fall. This is entirely their fault. Run a cheap service and get smacked.
tom clancy tired of rainbow six so he’s creating rainbow seven
Aren’t we at rainbow x
It's Rainbow six Siege X, not Rainbow X Siege
which is a spinoff of Spy x Family
We're on rainbow siege XXX website dude!
IQ is the top search, no doubt.
first rainbow x siege, next iana x iq?
No we're in year X
I heard he’s doing all of his own stunts this time around…
Rainbow six seven

shut up
I love smosh
🐰🐭🐹🐻❄️🐨🦊🐻🐼🦁🐯🐸🐷🐮
Damn spies opted the rainbow.
canonically John Clarke is Rainbow Six, the organization is Rainbow
He thinks Ubisoft is a Clear and Present Danger to his legacy
Maybe Ubisoft needs to get comfortable with not owning their source code
Maybe they need to start renting it from themselves
Hehehe
Its not confirmed.
Right now there only one hacker who is real.
Quote from him "Hi. I'm from hong kong"
What’s the source for this?
The source of what?
Minecraft infinite water source
Real question
The guy asked for a source for a few different takes.
Clarification is indeed would be nice.
He wants the source of the real hacker from Hong Kong
The already deleted discord server that was in ban notifications.
Lmao
Source Filmaker?
Hong Kong. Can you not read?
Should probably get that quote framed and put on a wall.
Am hong kong 😁
it's all the same stuff for recent games anyways, just endless question marks
They will likely return it
not before solving the question marks
I thought Insider Gaming debunked this…
Can’t wait for For Honor 2
Now with more experience from JC and the Team and Not letting that one Tournament Match Happen again. Could get nice, could become Ubisoft Microtransaction hell with Steel being useless and new heros only unlocking for Money. Give another Publisher the rights for For Honor 2 in hindsight
What's the tournament match?
It was just a really bad tournament. It was right when the game first came out. Being a tournament people were playing optimally, and doing that meant abusing some of the most goofy techs ever seen in a video game. People were unlock zoning and sprint attacking in duels. Which should not be happening, and it looked ridiculous.
Shugoki had the unavoidable backbreaker and everything it was the worst era of For Honor and killed any hopes of a tournament scene 😂
ah the almost undodgeable hug that used to kill you immediately under a certain threshold of health. good (not really) times.
It was about all he had for a while luckily it's not as bad playing as or against. I still got "ISAGIYOKUSHINE!" burned into my mind tho
For Honor X
Its all misinformation they didnt steal the source code there is no evidence of it
do you have evidence that they didn't steal the source code?
Do you have evidence that they stole the source code?
Yes I’m sure the anti cheat is improving when they now have the source code lol. Such a shit studio
"Fuck 'em"
RELEASE THE SOURCE CODES
Source code + kernel anticheat = Malware
I remember not that long ago, I saw a post about how someone wouldn’t play games that require kernel level access for anti-cheat. Most of the replies told them it’s not an issue and that they would never need to worry about hackers gaining access.

Dokkaebi and mute really went berserk this time
This is their karma for nerfing our beloved Mute
Exactly, to forgive him, they should allow mute to place jammers on walls, then it would actually be amazing
Yet the hackers can’t do this for all the real shit crap that exists lol all those anonymous threats fall flat after all that talk.
Ubisoft is going to do some fine combing to their system to catch all the abusers of the hacks which unfortunately will only be the players and not the hackers

Someone really cares, they'll get justice by hacking Rainbow, yeah
It's because digital Robin Hood's straight up don't happen. At least, not when it comes to the government.
The govt. snaps up as many skilled hackers as it can because they know they're dangerous. Hackers willingly get employed by the govt. because it's a better gig than being a cybercriminal and unless you got a strong as hell moral and ethical compass it's hard to reject a fat stack of cash on ideological grounds. Yeah dk why they did it for real. Like last time with Sony and the interview movie. No true reason on this one. But the files is what I got from it MJ lyrics, Israel, “what else are they hiding from us”.
I mean, the messages in the ban waves also talked about hating Jews, but ok
I hope they give out the Splinter Cell code so someone who isn’t a greedy cunt can make a sequel.
Give us the ghost recon source code, we’ll revive the franchise!
Lol they stole a bunch of garbage
dont forget, ubisoft used to be GOATED
I bet there's a lot of emojis in the code...
this article explains everything pretty well
not at all how this works
What do you mean? Sure, "bypass the firewall" is textbook non-technical person lingo, but why could they not log to a VPN with stolen credentials that allows them access to all Git repos?
But they did so without putting the hard-line into the mainframe.
That takes skill.
That would fry the motherboard and take down the entire system - maybe more!
They didn't even try to hack the Gibson!
Why? You can host git repos internally over ssh. That's probably what they meant
If I were to guess, it’s most likely they used stolen vpn credentials to gain access.
What you mean? I always bypass the firewall when hacking… /s
I think they mean a form of WAF maybe?
and the photo they used for the “help desk dashboard” is literally ai generated i’m 90% sure
some of the text is english but then other bits just make no sense like rather than “date created” it’s “Qate Qreated”
Yes, codes aren't stored ready to be used, they're fragmented
What?
What in the AI is this shit
why does this read like chatgpt wrote it lmao
because it clearly did.
AI slop, clearly
this is one of the most poorly written articles i've seen and i work in the industry with some very poorly written discovery documents
you're not kidding woah.
Ubi's code:
Climb wall.
View point map reveal.
Clear camp.
Damn, they sure did waste their time.
The hackers are going to make a new rainbow game better than Ubisoft could ever.
Looks like we will be getting denvo free versions of every game soon, maybe ill give anno 117 a try
Denuvo is owned by a different company. It's inserted into games by developers after the game is made and often taken out after a certain period of time because it costs money to keep Denuvo in the game.
Speculations and misinformation. Believe nothing. Only Ubisoft can give you accurate information
And even then, one of the things I'm pretty sure about is that corporations don't give reliable info unless it's to cover their asses. We probably will never know the extent of the breach.
publicly traded companies are required to disclose these things by law
They will give us the info they want us to hear
Like they would ever admit that lol.
They will literally not give accurate information on this ever
Accurate information?
When everyone got banned and all the inventories got unlocked they just posted "a slight incident happened".. their public guy is the biggest misinformation.
Oh no! Not that boat game I can’t even remember the name of!
maybe he just wants to fix the fuckng bugs and put it back
Get Dokkaebi'ed lol
Man those crew 2 players took it closing down way too seriously.
Make The Crew playable offline. Pretty please?
Okay, that’s actually not a bad idea. I’d get behidn that
i can get a plate of source code pls
Where is my free stuff😭
I bet they didnt even look at for honor
Finally, some good hackers, FUCK UBISOFT.
I actually wouldn't mind looking through For Honor's source code maybe we can add the old minion killing animations back since Ubi are cowards
Man...i just wanna play. Tf?
For Honor gonna get some competition...
I had no idea people still played this game. This game was incredible at launch.
if thats actually true, these guys are my new favorite hackers
OH NO...
Anyway.
Luckily for Ubisoft, their games are perpetually broken/ incomplete so nothing of value was lost.
Someone ELI5 why source code specifically is so important
Source code can tell someone everything about the game, for Ubisoft it probably is more an IP/Copyright thing as now people can see how their systems run
For players the likely scenario is better made/ undetectable hacks
For anything unreleased well, now its in the wild
If a game is a house then the source code isn't just a copy of the house like we all get, it's the blueprints.
If you want to mod a game (renovate the house) then it might involve some trial and error to find the part you're looking for. Can this wall be removed? Where are the structural components? This is why open source software is a category some people care about. For consumers it's often not noticeable but for some people the source code is extremely useful.
It makes it way easier to develop cheats for a game that you don't have to reverse engineer, but rather have the source code for it.
The title might as well be "I had no idea that hackers were doing something that literally all hackers try to do" like wdym "I had no idea they were stealing source code" why the fuck else would they hack something this deeply? Just to fuck around? No they want the source code so they can make cheats that get around the anticheat system better
Sir….they got “fighters uncaged”
Maybe theyll use the source code for an r6 2? Lol
That code is going to be sold to cheat devs that’ll destroy the game with cheap cheats
So many ubisoft dick riders
They keep saying how Ubisoft didn't confirm it like any company would announce that by themselves.
It is a legal obligation to disclose.
As if the rich and powerful give a damn about the law
nobody deserved it more than ubisoft tbf
Nintendo
Genuinely loving this world where EA has been surpassed by Nintendo for the most hated company.
I'm glad that I'm immune to Nintendo's nostalgia grip because I never had any console so I never touched their mediocre games😂
Fuck yes. I mean, damn… pitiable ubi. (GIVE ME A RAYMAN 3D TRILOGY TO PLAY ON PC OR SUFFER)
Well since every Ubisoft is pretty much the same game with a different theme, no wonder they got the source code for most games.
Team hackers
So there’s hope for the last remaining fans of vegas2 🥺🥺🥹🥹
Ironically the hackers behind it played Watchdogs as kids and that inspired them to take up hacking.
Good news, that means now anyone with that code will be able to release better products as ubisoft clearly lacks that ability
How about yall give us some credits back and we can all forget about this? :))
[deleted]
Anything to evidence this or are you basing it on that one AI slop article?
Nah. Vx_ underground is a known guy.
I cant Even join the Game it says Server issue anyone else got this Problem?
Ubisoft heist for Splinter cell lol
Lol good hackers.
Was there/will there be a rollback on the credits?
Can someone tell Ubisoft to fix the fucking seige glitch when you can rejoin, how hard is it to make a decent fucking game cung
So they only stole one source code and reskins ?
Release all the games Ubisoft delisted please.
Cheat dev, it’s easier to understand what’s happening by reading the source code than taking apart the rainbowsix.exe that Ubisoft has intentionally put in (and I’ll add they’ve done a half decent job too) a bunch of effort into making harder

Edit: if it’s even true. The reporting around this is that they didn’t get the source code
This feels like Payday levels of heisting and thievery right here. Imagine someone making a super good game with Ubisoft’s own source code
Why would they store source code on their multiplayer servers/cloud instances? The two teams should have almost no crossover, so the hacked credentials shouldn’t work for both.
I donno why i can't feel bad about Ubisoft.
they didn’t steal source code
After over a decade of players begging them to address server issues and security… they finally fall. This is entirely their fault. Run a cheap service and get smacked.
i feel like ubisoft source codes getting leaked is a yearly tradition by now. did they just re-leak the same code again?
I suspect we will get a gritty R6 clone from a newly established Chinese studio some time soon
But with green blood and no skulls of course
hopefully
This makes me happy! Ubisoft response will be to add another pistol with a sight to jager lmao fuckin dog shit devs
fantastic
Oh no.
Anyway.
Fuck Ubisoft. Fuck Yves G.
Hopefully the hackers will make good Ubisoft games. Someone has to. Because Ubisoft isn’t lol
Couldn't have happened to a more deserving developer.
Good hopefully someone makes siege 2
damn can we finally get the source code for the crew series to make our own servers.
There’s apparently 4 groups. One went for the source code and got all the code for every single Ubisoft game ever made.
The hacker known as 4chan is back
Is there any proof of this? Seen it going around but no one has offered proof.
Why would anyone want any of ubisofts source code???
should i change my account password?
Didn't Insider Gaming debunk this? Also Pubity, seriously? We sharing meme page news now?
Ubisoft wasn’t breached though 😂…
It very much was? The whole company system got broken into
No, it was a third party. There’s an article on it.
Oh no, now hackers yield the power to make generic shit games
Alright, who clicked the link
TF2 type shit
Games so ass
This has been debunked.
Who’s want Ubisoft’s source codes? These games suck anyway
Good
Good, fuck ubi
Love to see it
What do they get from source code?
Thank God. Maybe someone more competent can create Ubisoft titles.
Bro is this to combat their “you don’t own” mentality?
AHHHHHHHHH HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
Rainbow six stoke the fucking source code
Based
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/3f/e0/de/3fe0de044baa5be71b267109a539b91f.jpg
Feeling bad for this indie company man 😞
Which Ubisoft game hasn't got hacked at this point?
RELEASE THE FILES! FREE UBI GAMES FOR ALLLL
Why would they keep their source code in a deployment server?? It's basics right!! I think this is false information..
oh hell yeah, i can mod the source of watch dogs games
Holy shit
With their game design, steal one game's source code, and you've stolen all their source codes
