My boyfriend and I forgot to check the house to make sure everything was in place before leaving. When he came back, he noticed the TV remote was left on the coffee table. He sent me the picture while I was at work.
We are monitoring the rabbit and making sure he's eating plenty of hay and drinking, I'm just sharing the pure chaos of those mischievous creatures.
Second picture is the culprit, Mr Big. A big floof of cuddles and he's also the destroyer.
i’ve had multiple rabbits eat countless remote buttons and go on to live long happy lives, i wouldn’t be too worried about his health as long as he’s still eating and pooping and whatnot. but yeah you might have to start memorizing which buttons are which if you can’t remember to keep the remotes hidden lol

I left it somewhere because I was listening to an audiobook while cleaning their enclosure and when I came back to it the corners and volume/power were gone lol they left the rest of it alone, just nibbled those sweet sweet silicone button covers

Its easy, after they cause over $500 worth of damage (had to replace all the carpets in my old place) just add “the destroyer” to their name.
I find it incredible, the sheer diversity of a bun's appetite! I thought only goats ate like this, but mine has literally eaten aluminum mesh fabric, duct tape, AAALLLL types of plastics, plus your extra "spicy hay" after full helping of carpet.... they are truly wonders. Do be careful of gastrointestinal issues, but yeah.... they are truly wonders to behold!

Oh I know it!!! Well, one of my 3 boys does anyway. One has a very sensitive tummy and recurring bacterial infections every time I feed him even the smallest of treats.... I was absolutely gobsmacked that the one eats like a goat! It makes penning difficult for sure!!

My rabbits adore silicone… Nothing silicone in my house has ever survived. Dust broom, three dust pans, two brooms, thermometer button, countless earplugs. I try to keep them out of reach but somehow they always get them in the end. And yet never any ill effects

Certain rubbers and wire jacket insulation are derived from vegetable based oils, so they're almost like food to them. It's one reason among many why squirrels, rats, and mice tend to chew up electrical wires in cars left outside too long by the woods.
It's unlikely to hurt him, as long as this isn't a regular thing.
As always monitor his eating and pooping habits and maybe be extra diligent on changing his litter box to tell. Don't want him getting any kind of blockage.

The picture is actually older, because it's dark here and the old house does not have a light in the living room so I was not able to take a proper picture, but he was laying in his pen kinda like the picture, very unbothered 😂
My first rabbit chewed/ate an entire section of the rubber mat we had under his cage. He was fine. Bunnies are sometime stupidly resilient to eating things they shouldn’t lol. The same bunny chewed through a lamp cord in the living room while the lamp was on lol. We were watching TV and the lamp just went dead and while we were trying to figure out wtf happened, he hopped out from behind the couch and was completely unfazed.
The best theory I’ve heard for why rabbits love to eat rubber things like remote buttons or electric wiring is because they like the smell of the rubber for some reason. It explains a lot actually.
Yes I think they like it also for the texture! But for the lamp my sister got a similar story, she was playing Minecraft and the mouse stop working, she looked under the desk and the cat was there 😂

Mine did the same thing! Our remote sucks anyway and takes multiple button presses to do he action. We found out you can just use the Roku app to use your phone as a remote so we do that now.

if it makes you feel any better, I got my first bun around Christmas time last year so I had a pack of candy canes on this lower-shelf my desk has (about a foot high); one night mid-January I look down to see nothing but ripped up plastic and the cardboard entirely chewed up. She ate like 3/4ths of the box. I got rid of the box and about 30 minutes later she was running around with an ENTIRE CANDYCANE IN HER MOUTH!!! She was carrying it like how a dog holds a large stick and binkying around with it 😭 anyway shes 1 now and got a few pieces of a candy cane mixed with her pellets as a birthday cake. She somehow had no side-effects after eating all of those candy canes I have no idea how...baby rabbit immunity I guess

The vet gave us Laxatone for peace of mind. It helps bunnies pass things through their poop hehe. It’s a paste, you wrap a pea sized amount in lettuce for them to eat.

Haha yeah they do that! lost half a dozen remotes over the years. Something about the button mouthfeel is apparently exquisite, and considered a delicacy in bun society. Never had a problem, but you're doing the right thing by keeping an eye just in case :)
