Well, to be fair, the system we are in conditioned people to be this way. I'm only pointing it out because I'm a realist, but I can't bring emotions into it. I can't be mad at them for it, most people seek emotional narratives/comfort.
What I would want to change, is to show them a better way, and convince them to uphold it and care about it. The main thing being, to increase wellbeing for all and decrease harm to others, as a start.
This video is a good example; the wellbeing of him as an individual (wanting the ball) should not allow him to harm someone else's (by taking it from the older guy). And people around should feel comfortable correcting that. Because as you see, if he feels no consequences, he won't stop himself.
If people hold the standard for even the "insignificant" stuff, they will want to hold it for the "significant" stuff.

Reminds me of a music festival I was at yrs ago. Buddy Guy just got done playing and threw guitar picks out to the crowd. One came my way and like 6 or 7 people along with myself reached in the air for it, but it bounced off our hands and landed at my feet. Reached down to pick it up, had it in my hand, and dude behind me grabs my wrist and pulls it out of my hand as we're standing back up. He gave it back after I asked what the fuck? But, man, people can just get crazy selfish.
Similar thing happened to me when I saw Slash about 10 years ago. He flung his pick right at me and it bounced off my hand. It was so quick that nobody reacted. Once it fell, though, about a dozen vultures were at my feet looking for it.
