My dad carries a small derringer with him wherever he goes. One day, while he was out walking his dog, a pitbull charged them and started attacking. My dad scooped his dog up into his arms to keep it away, but the pitbull would not back off even after the owner came running outside.
My dad told her plainly, “I’m going to shoot your dog.” She said, “Do it.” So he did. One fatal shot (he hunts wild boar so he knew what he was doing.)
Kids were outside playing, neighbors were washing their cars. It was chaotic, loud, and deeply upsetting for everyone who witnessed it. My dad was devastated. He did not want that outcome, but he is in his late seventies and physically could not protect himself or his dog any other way. It was a terrible situation caused entirely by someone else’s negligence. Lethal force was 100% necessary.
And of course this woman denied ever having said that, and it was later revealed that she runs a pitbull rescue in a residential fucking neighborhood full of children, and it was captured on several doorbell cameras for the cops to review. Stupid fucking people and their dogs, man.
I’ve also had a “I’m going to kill your dog” moment! It was a fucking pit-lab mix and it bit me once, the owner came running over and couldn’t get it under control. It bit me again, I looked at the owner and said “I’m going to kill your dog.” Then I stomped its head in with two shots. I don’t think it’s suffered. The woman sued me and I won by having the ER doctor confirm the bite marks matched her dog in a photo. She paid by medical bills, my legal bills, and suffering to the tune of $50k. She’s also legally barred from owning dogs in Johnson County Kansas.
The lesson is, if you aren’t rich enough to pay for your negligence then don’t have dogs you can’t train.
Thank you! It really hurt my relationship with my own dog afterwords. Even though Cookie was a well trained sheepdog mix I had to give her up after a few weeks because she would simply play-bark and I would go into a full blown fetal position panic attack. My wife filmed it for me, weirder experience than being attacked imo, because we though we would need to present it in court but luckily all the conjecture evidence of my suffering was enough.
From what I saw on the Christmas cards and early online video she lived real well in rural Kansas until she died at an old age. She was all black with a white tuft of hair on her chest and in her old age she went almost all white. I have a few physical photos somewhere I should digitize. That was the weird time in the 00s where we still had to develop digital for nice glossies
Fuck that broke my heart. I'm so sorry, man. You did right by Cookie. I hope that the other dog owner died in some kind of uncomfortable, embarrassing way.
Idk the $50k seemed to really really hurt them they motioned for relief quite a few times. My guess is it came to garnishment. But she was defiant through the whole trial. It shouldn’t have never even gone to trial because we offered settlement FOR LESS!
That’s extremely shady and makes me wonder if she is just an animal hoarder. Her situation needs to be investigated. I worked with real rescues, and we had pits among other dogs. That would absolutely never happen at a reputable rescue. We took special care of the aggressive breeds.
There are some animals that require a certain level of expertise. It seems to me that a lot of these incidents are random fucking Joe blows thinking they wanted a cool dog or to be a savior and had no thought or plan for what happens after you have to take care of them
I love animals...but I have never ONCE felt empathy for an aggressive dog that is OUTSIDE of its own territory. It stops being defense then and becomes offense. That is the same as a human attacking someone "just for fun."
This reminded me of the last neighborhood I lived in. So many loose dogs and ones that would charge you made me almost go out and The Judge. Just to have on fucking morning jogs. Ridiculous
Dogs are strong. Pit Bull and Mastiff related breeds take it to a whole other level. Then you have idiots training their dog to do this kind of stuff. I've heard a lot of stories like this and even seen some. Often some wannabe tough guy with a dog he trains like it's a weapon overpowers the girlfriend when she's taking a walk with it and wrecks havoc or hurts someone. I do understand why plenty of cities and countries have banned these kinds of dogs.
Pound for pound dogs tend to be MUCH stronger than humans. It's easy to forget because most humans are much lager than most dogs. Get a large dog to square up with a small human and you've got a big problem.
As a vet professional, most people have NO IDEA what strength dogs can have. A 45 pound dog, even a senior with severe issues, can drag a full grown, super fit man down with no issue.
I lived in Birmingham, Alabama for about six months. I moved there in a hurry and, stupidly, didn’t do much research on the neighborhood I was landing in. It turned out to be…fine. The house was probably haunted, but crime was low in that little pocket, and the homes were far enough apart that I never even met my neighbors.
What I didn’t realize until I’d already moved in was that the area was absolutely overrun with stray dogs. I mean everywhere. I couldn’t even walk my own dog because there was a very real chance a random dog would appear out of nowhere and try to engage us. This happened twice, and thankfully both times the dogs just wanted to play, but that didn’t make it any less stressful.
One morning I opened my front door to take my dog out and there were two dogs standing there, posted up on my porch like bible salesmen. Just waiting. It was unhinged.
I was happy as hell to leave Birmingham for a lot of reasons, but honestly, the stray dog situation topped the list. I spent the whole time worrying about people crime, when it turned out the real threat was dog crime. I was very lucky myself or my dog weren’t attacked like this poor woman and her baby.
I lived there too as a child and believe we lost our pet to a pack of stray dogs. She was terrified of loud noises and my neighbors fireworks on 4th of July scared her so much, she dug a hole and escaped under the fence in our back yard. We never saw her again but heard reports of a dog being attacked by a pack of strays.
If they have a collar on, you're supposed to get your hand in it and twist, pinching the dogs throat until it can't breathe. If they don't have a collar on, your guess is as good as mine.
The first thing you should do is never listen to redditors. They'll always tell you to finger the dogs butthole, which is both very hard to achieve and doesn't really work either. Personally I've seen dumping a bucket of water on working best (far better than extreme infliction of violence etc), but remember I am also a redditor so you shouldn't listen to me either.
Find a real source instead of this cesspool of pretenders.
Right like look at how the dog is ragdolling her in the video, clearly you can't just grab a full bucket of water while being attacked. She should've just knocked on the door and asked that lady in the house to bring her one!
I'm seeing a lot of people thinking in hypothetical. You don't think when you're being attacked, all concern for the dog's safety goes out the window once they bite down on you and you start swinging.
We were witness to a dog attack about two or three years ago just down the street from our house. A pitbull broke loose from a house and attacked an old man and his tiny dog. The man got bit up pretty good and I ran in between them and fought with the dog until the owner finally tackled it.
I still think about it nearly every time I go down that street. I don't walk my boys that way anymore. Every time I hear a noise while putting the kids in the car I whip my head up and scan for that dog.
It sticks with you way more than you would expect. My son, who was with us at the time, asked us all the time about "the white dog" for like a year after that.
Fuck no she didn't. I'm a mom and I'd be scared to take a walk with my kid forever after that. Them getting hurt is my nightmare. I feel so fucking bad for this mom but also so proud she saved her toddler.
I walk with a well trained 100lb Malinois who would probably protect us. I hope.
My mom told me when my oldest sister was a baby my mom was chased by a german shepherd and she had to throw my sister on top of someones parked car and turned to fight dog and the german shepherd pinned her to the car.
Luckily this dog wasnt actually malicious it just had no sense of appropriate play so when it pinned my mom to the car it just licked her and ran away still though my mom is terrified of german shepherfd to this day.
Unfortunately my wife has a strong preference for german shepherds. we own two and my mother never told me this story until she came to visit me and my wife (then girlfriend) for the first time and met our huge black demon dogs and damn near had a panic attack.
With time she learned to tolerate my dogs specifically because theyre so gentle but if she sees another gsd out in the wild she will become visibly upset especially if shes with one of my nephews.
Once that 'fight for your life' switch gets flipped it also flips a bunch of other switches in your head you can never turn off. This poor woman will probably never truly mentally recover from this moment.
Shit the kid is going to be terrified of dogs for the rest of their life too. I have a cousin who got aggressively barked at when she was really little who's still afraid of them (it's manageable now at least). Hell I saw two pits on a little dog once from inside my house and even that was traumatizing. Much less than seeing your own mom get dragged, surely screaming, down the concrete trying to protect you and at that age too. This is horrible for everyone involved (besides the owner who's apparently nowhere to be found).
I hate pit bulls, I've witnessed an attack myself on a relative, the dog was owned by a family friend, I don't trust them at all. I see one, I will take a different route forever. This is my worst fear with my son, that we'll be going somewhere and a dog will attack us. My husband wants me to be armed and that's the only situation where I agree.
Seeing an animal attack is just scary as fuck because it's so uncontrollable. When I was little I was charged at by a huge St. Bernard that got out of its owners home. My grandma was really close by and saw him coming before I did tho and she sincerely saved me. She puffed up like a bear and screeched at it.
I survived my own dog doing this to both my arms. My teenager had to get me a knife and I had to stab him multiple times to get him to let go. He had been injured and went into fight or flight and directed at me. This is the first time I've been able to watch something similar since it happened almost 6 years ago. He broke both my arms, but my kid was safe which is all I cared about.
I agree.
I keep a can of mace in my hand when I watch my son walk home from the bus stop. A German shepherd dog that lunged at my son a year ago lives at the corner
That is absolutely terrifying. I've become more fearful around stronger dogs (and that's coming from a big dog lover) because I feel people are buying dogs willy nilly without the correct training. I wasn't sure if it was down to allowing myself to be fearmongered by the media but every time I see a video like this I think.. nope, perfectly legitimate fear. Cry.
I live in a larger US city and the amount of unleashed dogs is incredible. I have 4 dogs, all different breeds ranging from tiny to pretty big, none of them can walk & clean up after themselves.
It isn’t the animals fault, it knows it isn’t special, it is the owners that think THEY (the owner) are the special one.
Fine and jail these owners. Thats the only way these attacks will slow down. Putting down all these “bad” dogs will do nothing and the owner will probably get another dog within the week and won’t properly raise that one either.
Was that the owner that ran up in the end? What a terrible owner. What makes this an absolute nightmare is the kid was there. Thankfully the mother saw what was happening and managed to grab her kid. Imagine if that dog had leapt for the kid's throat.
Some people take this oath of owning a dog more serious than others. They know it's a pet ultimately and not some family member.
My brother in law's dog bit the face of his son while we were out having a good time camping in some rural nature land they have. We were all shocked and caught off guard as the son didn't do anything to invite such an aggressive response to a kid that's been in his life since birth.
He put the dog down an hour later after he wandered out in the woods away from everyone and said his final goodbyes to his friend.
I tracked my BIL down to come help deal with it all and I remember I put my arm around him and he just broke down crying hard. It's never an easy choice but every owner should understand the necessity in such situations to remove these dogs from the gene pool.
The mum did a wonderful job keeping the dog attention on her and away from her kid tho and I’m sure no matter how bad the injury’s to her foot she is glad her kiddo was safe
Yeah I'm a dog lover, but I'd punt that fucker in the stomach with everything I had if I witnessed that. The owner just trying to pry its jaws open was infuriating
I had a dog (actually a pack) go after me on a stroll in Taiwan and I had to stab one with my pocket knife to pry from my boot. Thankfully the other dogs just watched for some reason.
I unfortunately was attacked like this by a German shepherd. I can not begin to describe the pain level especially when they shake you. 12/10 on the pain scale.
When I moved into my neighborhood 3 years ago, people did not give a fuck about their dogs. They still don't! They let them run around the streets barking and attacking anyone. They tried to attack a cat that was in my yard. I scared them off and screamed "NEXT TIME I SEE THESE DOGS IM SHOOTING THEM! CONTROL YOUR FUCKING ANIMALS!"
People definitely heard because then they started keeping their dogs outside in cages. Problem was, they kept them in their 24/7, during the rain and during the heatwave so i had to call animal control on people. Dogs got taken anyway and now my neighbors hate me. But hey they should take better care of their animals so not my fault.
I think the lady who was fighting the dog off may also be pregnant 😭 it’s when she is on the ground that I saw it 😔 her belly is exposed. Does anyone know the outcome of this incident?
While it would be a nice punishment for this, no way he is getting jail time without proven intent. And I doubt he has any money that would make a lawsuit worthwhile.
Go for its snout. First priority would be gouge its eyes, legit like try to shove your thumbs into its skull and poke its brain. If an animal or something is latched onto me and death rolling or shaking and trying to tear my flesh that’s what I’m doing. I wouldn’t try freeing myself by trying to pry its jaws open and I wouldn’t really want to hit it in any way that would jerk it abruptly since it has its teeth sunk in. The nose and lips would probably be the next best options.
Here is an update regarding this attack, posted Sunday morning around 8:30 am
“Whiteford Elementary Dog Attack — Update
Following Monday’s dog attack at Whiteford Elementary on the 8th, a group of parents obtained police surveillance footage and shared the video publicly to raise awareness and urge action to prevent further harm to children and families.
Communication from the school district stated only that “emergency responders addressed a medical situation involving an adult on a property.” No details were provided regarding the involvement of a loose dog, nor was there a warning about a potentially dangerous, unfenced dog located adjacent to school property.
As a result of the video being shared, the dog warden became aware of the severity of the attack after seeing it on Facebook. The school district had not provided the footage to him prior to that point.
This video (sped up 3×) shows the female owner attempting to return the dog home after the attack. During this encounter, she struggled with the dog for nearly three minutes, and the dog latched onto her hand and refused to let go. According to the police report, officers observed an injury to her hand, but she declined to file a report. The male owner has declined to relinquish the dog to the warden.
Parents are requesting the following immediate safety measures:
• Temporary quarantine of the dog away from the school until a permanent decision is made
• Indoor recess while the dog remains next door
• Preschool walking drop-off/pick-up moved to carline drop-off, consistent with elementary procedures
• Increased police presence during student arrival and dismissal
Join parents in making their concerns heard at the Sylvania Board Meeting Monday 12/15, 6PM @ Timberstone.”
The male owner has declined to relinquish the dog to the warden.
You shouldn't be allowed to decline. Presumably there are laws/measures in place to push this further, because if your dog is attacking people, there shouldn't be any debate about whether or not it's allowed to stay in your custody.
I love dogs..... It breaks my heart to see any dog put down due to the selfishness of bad owners, but this is immediate euthanasia. This was a vicious attack on a random stranger. You can see that dog is literally hunting a victim and locks onto that poor woman and her child. Dog is a danger to itself and humans around it. Train your fucking dogs for fuck sake. And don't get breeds you clearly cannot handle.
I'm a dog owner myself but pls for heaven's sake put this dog down! Wtf and I hope the owner gets sued and is not allowed to own a dog ever again. Imagine the dog attacked the kid instead of the mum!
That dog has to be put down, and the owner arrested.
I'm glad the mom was able to save her child, this could've been so much worse than her leg being mauled.
But now she has to deal with the physical and mental trauma of getting attacked by a dog for the rest of her life, as well as her kid having mental trauma of dogs.
Put it down. As a dog owner myself, i'd put it down immediately, bit of a farm boy mentality of, if it's getting into my eggs and chicken, its gotta go
Exactly. I adore dogs. I never want to see a dog euthanised over minor things but in this case, there's a switch flipped in this dogs brain that cannot be unflipped. It's why behavioural euthanasia is a thing, sometimes there's just something in that dogs brain that will never let it live a normal life. It's probably the most humane thing for it if it's reached that level of viciousness towards a random stranger, far down the street.
I saw a video of a guy doing ju jitsu on a pit bull that attacked him. He let go, it re attacked. He then re commenced ju jitsu until the dog was unconscious and threw it in the house pool.
Dogs can get nasty quick, I had to strangle a big dog once just so he would let go of mine (95lb Golden Retriever). The other dog seemed fine playing with mine (in an off leash unfenced park), until he turned around and bit him on the neck and wouldn't let go. My poor dog cried like I never heard before. He was like 10 meters away from me and I don't think I ever ran that fast in my life. The other idiot of an owner was just standing there not doing anything. I just ran and squished that dog's neck as hard as I could and he let go quickly. I'm about 110lbs and the other dog was like 90-100lbs, could've been bad if he turned to bite me, my dog ended up with some blood and punctures, but nothing major.
This breaks my heart, so sorry. So glad your baby is okay. I can’t bring myself to take my guy to a dog park. I don’t trust other dog parents for this very reason.
That’s the problem with dogs. They’ve lost their natural survival instincts after being with humans for too long. They will literally attack until they die. At least wolves know when to quit.
Not all dogs. What you're describing is called 'gameness'. It's when the dog will attack relentlessly despite being injured. It's all or nothing to them. If they decide to attack, they will try to do it again and again until they succeed or they're incapacitated too badly to continue. Certain breeds like pitbulls have incredibly high levels of gameness whereas breeds like labs, as a whole, have low gameness for conflict and do not have any desire to attack relentlessly.
I’ve thought about what I should do if I ever witnessed a dog attack and needed to help the person being attacked. I’m sharing this in case it helps someone, and hopefully it works. In my opinion, your best bet is to take off your belt, if you're wearing one, loop it around the dog’s neck, then pull as hard as you possibly can until the dog starts to choke out. Honestly, I couldn’t think of a more effective solution.
Not sure how it works in the US but over here in the UK, that dog would be put down under the dangerous dog act and the owner could face a prison sentence. Hopefully the same outcome over there
"SORRY! SORRY! HE'S FRIENDLY I SWEAR! HE USUALLY DOESN'T DO THIS, I ALWAYS WALK HIM OFF LEASH. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT GOT INTO HIM! I FIGURED HE WAS JUST PLAYING AND BEING FRIENDLY!"
Love dogs and even pit bulls. This dog specifically? Kill it. Ain’t no normal dog will sprint directly toward the first living thing it sees and attack it unless it has been trained for attack or just plain insane. Seemed almost like a police training video that shows the dog attacking someone wearing a bite proof suit except it was a mother and her fucking toddler. Put it down. It’s a mercy to the dog and apparently any people living in a 15 mile radius of it.
Exactly. That dog locked on and targeted them from far off. It wasn't defending anything or thought it's owner was in trouble. It went out of it's way to attack.
For comparison my dog (border collie mix) got out once by accident and he literally just went for a little wander and sniff down the road before I realised and then decided we were playing a fun game of chase, when I was trying to catch him. But once I put on my stern HERE voice, he came back immediately. People need to train recall into their dogs.
Recap is the single most important thing for any dog owner to drill into their dog. I don’t give a damn if a dog knows how to do a backflip if it can’t recall.
When I was younger my dad had a huskie he loved a lot, though the dog didn't like to share. One day it got into the Oreos and my older brother went to take them away and it managed to bite off my brothers upper lip in response. The local sheriff gave my dad an ultimatum: "Either you shoot it or I will". Dad took it for a walk through the dump and shot it. I've never trusted big dogs that have a history of aggression since...
Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, but I'm extremely weary around them now.
At least they do a better job of it in Canada. In this case, fortunately, the horrible owner served some time and also got a 10 year ban (too light of a sentence still imo).
I’m relieved that it didn’t attack the toddler. This is a terrible situation. I was a victim of a dog attack at an early age and unfortunately
because of that I don’t trust any dog anymore, even the nice ones.
I love dogs, even more than people most of the time… but you have to choke that mf out and beat the fuck out of it. Imagine if it had gotten the little boy!? He would have been killed. The dog must be put down after something like this. It’s vicious and will hurt someone else if given the opportunity. Thank goodness she saw it coming and had a couple of seconds to get her kid out of the way. That poor baby will be scarred for life after watching that happen. He’s probably going to be scared of dogs his entire life now too. Unbelievably irresponsible owner.
Owner just slowly walking off and no one in the school heard screaming? Wtf
Also, seems like the only thing that works so fast is pepper. Saw a video where a pit was latched on a lab and a huge group of people tried everything. Choking, eye gouging, finger up butthole, etc. Nothing worked until someone grabbed a pepper shaker off a nearby table, peppered it's nose and it instantly sneezed and had a dumb look on its face like "what happened?"
Remember when in a situation like this grab the dog in a choke hold, if they have a mouth full of flesh grab their mouth and press their lips into their teeth hard. They will let go most of the time. Don’t let go of that choke hold, squeeze their neck until they stop moving. Only do this if the dog is crazed like the one in the video. If they have a collar on, wrench that collar around your hand a few times, keep one hand on their snout holding it shut and the other hand wrapped in the collar and pin them to the ground. Do not let go, have someone call the police. This might not work 100% of the time but it will keep them from attacking you for the most part. I hope this helps at least one person.
I was bit viciously by a dog a few years ago, owner of the dog did all the "tricks" to make him let go. Nothing worked. Dog latched on to my leg in multiple places. He would of torn out my Achilles if I hadn't been wearing hi top work boots. I donkey kicked the dog in the head 4 times and he wouldn't let go. I had literally had to untie my boot and slip out to escape while the owner was trying to hold the dog back. The piece of shit owner tried to say it was my fault cause his dog could "smell my fear". I was literally just standing there, and I obviously had something to be afraid of. On top of that the owner was a former roommate and I had lived with that dog for 6 months with no problems.
I Don't GIVE A FUCK if you think your dog is friendly.
Next dog that bites me (hopefully never) is getting stabbed to death, not just kicked.
I was attacked by an aggressive chow dog that was owned by my mother's shitty boyfriend. Those dogs are not child friendly. They dog attacked my 6 year old body twice before the final incident that was so bad the state put him down. Sometimes dogs are too far gone and need to be put down. It isn't worth the trauma that they inflict..
I am not saying it was the culprit in this situation, but this is one of the reasons I hate invisible fences. My physical fences not only keep my dog in, but keeps others out. We live next a public park and the number of times unleashed dogs have charged up to our fence is infuriating.
I had a similar thing happen to a friend. dude straight up snapped the dogs leg.
unfortunately there were no cameras and the dog owner wanted to press charges and sue and blah blah blah. put my buddy through court drama hell until a bank ATM camera was brought to light and showed a snip of an aggressive dog on the loose.
That dog would not stop. Really fucking scary.
Choke them the fuck out.
My dad carries a small derringer with him wherever he goes. One day, while he was out walking his dog, a pitbull charged them and started attacking. My dad scooped his dog up into his arms to keep it away, but the pitbull would not back off even after the owner came running outside.

I’m so sorry that happened to you, dude, but glad about the outcome. 🫂

Rule of thumb is always, never get an animal you can't take in a fight.
That’s extremely shady and makes me wonder if she is just an animal hoarder. Her situation needs to be investigated. I worked with real rescues, and we had pits among other dogs. That would absolutely never happen at a reputable rescue. We took special care of the aggressive breeds.

I love animals...but I have never ONCE felt empathy for an aggressive dog that is OUTSIDE of its own territory. It stops being defense then and becomes offense. That is the same as a human attacking someone "just for fun."
My dad told me, “It’s a shame a beautiful animal had to die that way. It’s the owners fault.” It traumatized him, too.
This reminded me of the last neighborhood I lived in. So many loose dogs and ones that would charge you made me almost go out and The Judge. Just to have on fucking morning jogs. Ridiculous

Arrest the owner.
Was the owner the person who eventually got the dog off?? Even their presence couldn't stop the dog.
I believe it was the sister of the owner
"he's ok, he's just saying hello!"
Can I say Hello to the owner too? If you know him please say your Goodbye too.
His tail was wagging! 🙄
Makes sense. I was wondering why the dog wasn't going after her and why she didn't kick the sense out of it.
Crazy they were trying to unlatch the mouth instead of punching it in the nose
Oxygen deprivation is the only way to stop a vicious dog attacking.
I was buying weed one day and my dealers pitbull got through the fence and started attacking his neighbor's dog
We both ran over but he didn't want to get between them so I picked a football off the ground and pegged his dog in the head as hard as I could
Surprisingly, it worked
My job now involves walking through a lot of backyards, often without the homeowner being there, so I carry a 4 inch fixed blade for dog protection
This made me think your job was robbing people…. But I’m hoping it is something like checking electricity meters.
I'm a professional killer
Of bugs and rodents😉
Sounds like you should be carrying the pigskin around instead
We got fucking uncle Rico over here and he thinks he needs a blade. Brother, you've got the golden arm, you dont need it
I appreciate the respect for my skills but I played Center, not QB
I chalk this up to luck and being really close
Fuck punching it in the nose. Thumbs deep into its eyes. It needs to end there, not give it a chance to find a new target.
I keep hearing different things I should do. Is there a consensus on how to deal with dogs like this?
If they have a collar on, you're supposed to get your hand in it and twist, pinching the dogs throat until it can't breathe. If they don't have a collar on, your guess is as good as mine.
The first thing you should do is never listen to redditors. They'll always tell you to finger the dogs butthole, which is both very hard to achieve and doesn't really work either. Personally I've seen dumping a bucket of water on working best (far better than extreme infliction of violence etc), but remember I am also a redditor so you shouldn't listen to me either.
Find a real source instead of this cesspool of pretenders.
If I'm being mauled by a dog I'm not going to find a bucket of water, I'm using extreme infliction of violence
Choke it out. Potentially poke its eyes out but it will probably just relatch when you let go.
Or choking it to death before it gets loose again and rips the child in half.
Be careful, saying things like that on Reddit will get you banned even though it's the truth
And put the dog down immediately.
Beyond the obviously irresponsible owner...
That mom likely saved her kid's life, and both she and the kid made it out ok, great awareness and determination from her.
I'm gonna guess she did not make it out OK mentally.
The way she's walking, she's not okay.
Edit: The, not They
That’s hard to watch.
I’m sorry that happened, that’s so awful. What triggered the flight or fight?
How have you handled the aftermath. That is such an intense and emotional experience. Im so sorry you went through that.
This shit scares me so much. A loose dog attacking my kids is legitimately a huge fear of mine, especially if I’m not there to protect them.
Shit is horrifying. This mom did an amazing job.
Putting down all these “bad” dogs will do nothing and the owner will probably get another dog within the week and won’t properly raise that one either.
that dogs gotta go, the owner just letting those two big dogs off leash is crazy
Was that the owner that ran up in the end? What a terrible owner. What makes this an absolute nightmare is the kid was there. Thankfully the mother saw what was happening and managed to grab her kid. Imagine if that dog had leapt for the kid's throat.
That was not the owner but she knew of the dog (iirc think it was the owners sister)
The house where the dog came from had another dog too. So glad they didn't both run over because thats what usually happens
Not only has that dog gotta go, that owner also gotta get sent to prison.
Should be immediately put down.
It will be. 100%.
[deleted]
100% locked up at the least
It's the owner, they think they can own such breeds and can't control them.
That dog is a killer in the making.
That dog is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
that dog is already a killer and a lawsuit - fuck waiting for shit, it already happened
This lady can absolutely sue and win off this incident alone.
Yeah go ahead put that MF down. Imagine if it got to the kid instead. She should sue the sleeves off that owner
You can see it lunging at the kid at the end. Thankfully she had it by the collar at that point.
Sue her, but if she's broke she gets nothing. I think time behind bars needs to be the norm for people to take it more seriously.
How traumatic for that poor kid!
That dog owner should be held seriously liable.
Poor thing is going to be terrified of dogs for a lifetime.
yep, exactly why im personally scared of dogs, something like this happened to my mom and i
Kind of traumatic for the mom too, right?
of course, but adults have stronger emotional awareness, personal insight, and coping skills
But at least that kid eternally has video of how much their mother loves them! She wasn’t letting anything get to her kiddo.
he was prepared to snap the kid next
The way it looked at the toddler omg.
That was fucking horrendous to watch all I could think was what if the dog goes for the child whilst the mother is injured !
What. The. Mother. Fucking. Fuck.
This was terrible to watch and it could have gotten worse easily.
The mum did a wonderful job keeping the dog attention on her and away from her kid tho and I’m sure no matter how bad the injury’s to her foot she is glad her kiddo was safe
Can I just say, Mum here is a fucking hero. The child was made safe but what an awful situation.
The moment it attacks human it needs to be put down. It saw her as prey
It's so sad but true
Yeah I'm a dog lover, but I'd punt that fucker in the stomach with everything I had if I witnessed that. The owner just trying to pry its jaws open was infuriating
Self defense is self defense. Prioritize safety over all else.
I had a dog (actually a pack) go after me on a stroll in Taiwan and I had to stab one with my pocket knife to pry from my boot. Thankfully the other dogs just watched for some reason.
Dog was going after my gf like that and I did give that punt and the dog stopped and wimpered away. Gf did not like that.
Dog was probably wondering why you kicked your girl in the stomach like that.
He's never done that before!
“It’s ok! He’s Friendly!”
He was just playing!
was that a school?
yeah that dog has to die
and the owner should be locked up
Whiteford Elementary School, Toledo OH
I can't find any news story, surprisingly
[removed]
Yup put em down
I think the lady who was fighting the dog off may also be pregnant 😭 it’s when she is on the ground that I saw it 😔 her belly is exposed. Does anyone know the outcome of this incident?
I also thought she looked pregnant and was protecting her belly at one point.
Put the dog down
Arrest the owner.
Dog looked around at the end, sighted and would have gone for the kid if it wasn’t restrained
Anyone has a follow-up on this?
That dog or owner better get their just desserts.
You're the only person in this thread curious about an update like I am ...
From searching I verified that this happened in front of Whiteford Elementary School, in Toledo OH, but I can't find a single news story about it 🤯

Sadly shit owners like this usually get a slap on the wrist.
While it would be a nice punishment for this, no way he is getting jail time without proven intent. And I doubt he has any money that would make a lawsuit worthwhile.
Please stop it with the thumb in the butt shit. Oxygen deprivation IS the only „safe“ way.
I'm not quite sure how do oxygen deprivation without getting my face close to its face. Suggestions?
Parents are requesting the following immediate safety measures: • Temporary quarantine of the dog away from the school until a permanent decision is made • Indoor recess while the dog remains next door • Preschool walking drop-off/pick-up moved to carline drop-off, consistent with elementary procedures • Increased police presence during student arrival and dismissal
Join parents in making their concerns heard at the Sylvania Board Meeting Monday 12/15, 6PM @ Timberstone.”
So anyways, I started blasting
that's a good hush puppy
I'm a dog owner myself but pls for heaven's sake put this dog down! Wtf and I hope the owner gets sued and is not allowed to own a dog ever again. Imagine the dog attacked the kid instead of the mum!
That dog has to be put down, and the owner arrested.
I'm glad the mom was able to save her child, this could've been so much worse than her leg being mauled.
But now she has to deal with the physical and mental trauma of getting attacked by a dog for the rest of her life, as well as her kid having mental trauma of dogs.
Dog should be put down.
That dog would have died that day if that was my child and I . Fuck shitty pet owners.
I love dogs but that thing needs to be put down immediately
Those dogs need to be put down like yesterday.
More like:
<dog owner stares at phone, briefly notices dog has run toward woman and child>
Owner: Don’t worry, he’s friendly!
<dog owner goes back to scrolling on phone>
Border collies don’t usually attack people though
Recap is the single most important thing for any dog owner to drill into their dog. I don’t give a damn if a dog knows how to do a backflip if it can’t recall.
If your dog assaults/murders some one, you should be accountable for the same crime
Damn you see that dog motion toward the kid at the end. This *could have ended really bad
💉
Incoming: “b-BuT CupCaKe wOulDN’T huRt a FlY!!!”
Reminds me of this story where neither the dog nor the owner were cited/arrested/put down. USA laws are awful:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOjE5KV3VA8
Another recent story with a similar pattern and zero penalties:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fySJGbX3G7U
At least they do a better job of it in Canada. In this case, fortunately, the horrible owner served some time and also got a 10 year ban (too light of a sentence still imo).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRubtDrnFEw
I’m relieved that it didn’t attack the toddler. This is a terrible situation. I was a victim of a dog attack at an early age and unfortunately because of that I don’t trust any dog anymore, even the nice ones.
This got me thinking what I would do.
Thumbs in the eyes, leg wrap the neck and choke it.
She protected her kid, she did a good job .
I wouldn't want to wrap my legs around a dog like that, considering the location of the femoral artery.
That dog needs to be put down
That thing ran 3 blocks over to nanny the hell out of them.
i’m suing tf out of the dog owner
Always carry a knife.
The owner needs to be held responsible
Hope it was euthanized. Owner's fault.
I always keep a pocket knife on me at all times just in case something like this happens
I’m a dog person, but this dog absolutely needs to be put down ASAP.
If it’s not a stray and has an owner, the owner needs to be charged.
“But he’s friendly”
"I swear he's normally such a nice dog"
Unfortunately this owner should have that dog taken away.
That dog needs to be put down. The owner needs to be jailed.
but he's wagging his tail! he's friendly! /s
That momma handled her business, kid safe ❤️🙌
The way that dog locked in on the kid when the owner was dragging it away 😬
I was so worried that the dog would go after the baby next!
Wait a couple weeks and then have some friends lead pipe the owners kneecaps and light their house on fire.
It’s the only way shit dog owners will understand consequences
I am not saying it was the culprit in this situation, but this is one of the reasons I hate invisible fences. My physical fences not only keep my dog in, but keeps others out. We live next a public park and the number of times unleashed dogs have charged up to our fence is infuriating.
Thank god that dog got her foot and didn't for that kid instead. Poor woman though, that's horrible to watch.
The dog needs to be killed and the owner needs to be arrested
I’m curious how that went on so long outside if whatever building that is, without someone coming out to help her.
I had a similar thing happen to a friend. dude straight up snapped the dogs leg.
unfortunately there were no cameras and the dog owner wanted to press charges and sue and blah blah blah. put my buddy through court drama hell until a bank ATM camera was brought to light and showed a snip of an aggressive dog on the loose.
be mauled or be sued I guess.
Put it down?
Put that one down
Paper spray would come handy in this situation.
Jesus christ put that dog down
That dog needs to be put down asap.
Some people should not be allowed to own dogs. Some owners should face jail time
That dog needs to be put down. And I have dogs. I'd never trust my dog again.
The look it gave the kid towards the end... Glad she redirected him. (assuming it's a male)
Not sure why everyone is talking about pit bulls, that looks like a black lab or maybe a rottie
Shit like this is the reason why I keep a knife in my purse at all times
Hell of a lawsuit
Dog has to be put down. Any dog that attacks a human in such a way it shouldn’t even be a question
I love dogs man but the moment they start attacking people it’s time for them to go.
Choke hold
