Just a thought as I watch and read Dominic Izzo’s posts about his opinions on female officers and smaller stature officers. Some of his content feels intentionally baiting—calling people out and roasting them—then coming across like the stereotypical IA guy everyone at the department hates. At the same time, he does make some valid points. Overall, he’s hard for me to read. I’m curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on his philosophy and his views on the job

  • He is a complete handjob who only worked for two small suburbs in Illinois, both of which had less than 10K residents. He hates on cops who make videos but did the SAME shit when he was working and that’s how he got known originally. With his laughable experience, he thinks he can fix and completely run Chicago PD and Cook County. He attempted to run for Sheriff in the worst campaign you’ve ever seen and couldn’t even make it on the ballot.

He got fired for sending DOA pics out from his personal phone. Now he speaks like he is some type of expert in the field and MMQB’s body cam videos on the regular. His absolute hatred and 1950’s anti-woman mindset gets old quick and is only the tip of the iceberg with his annoying ass.

That seems about right, i just came across him and got sucked into the rabbit hole of watching the videos and just noticed the things and opinions he shared and just thought how wild it really is.

  • Oh, one of my coworkers used to work with him.

He worked for a tiny department in Illinois that shared a parking lot with a used car dealership. He was a useless toolbag that sued his department because he thought his body camera was filming him pee.

That being said, I'm not watching the video but there are definitely safety issues with very small, weak officers- to include certain females.

I've definitely worked with good female cops. I've worked with good female cops that I would never want to fight a suspect with. I've also worked with useless male cops.

I've also dealt with giant freak-of-nature suspects who probably 6 cops in the country might be able to take in a fight.

Never heard the name of that dude before, but... seriously, sued the departement because of this reason with the bodycam? Really? WTF?

About strength: Recently, we had the posting here in this sub about the guy that was supported by Shaq, when you have such a guy as a suspect instead of comrade, better get the taser i guess. While training is a major thing, if the suspect is trained too, if that guy gets you, like he's able to tackle you and put you in a headlock or he's able to grab and throw you, oh boy...

But that's not an ordinary case, that's a very rare exception.

When i was young and did Kyokushin Karate and K1, as a giant myself, my advantage was my strength and height. The advantages of the enemy was often more endurance and agility. So the strategy was just logical, close in, use the strength and get the enemy down by overwhelming him with the strength.

But about speed and endurance, there are again exceptions, like one time, we had a professional Sumo ringer in the Dojo and you can't even imagine how fast that guy was. He wasn't some slow giant, that you could evade. He just won any fight by shoving you out of the ring immediately.

    - Never heard the name of that dude before, but... seriously, sued the departement because of this reason with the bodycam? Really? WTF?

His dept was one of the first, or at least near the start, of body camera usage.
As he tells the story: They were told the camera had a buffer, typically 30 sec, when you push the button to would save the buffer and then start recording, push the button again and it would stop recording.
This is how "all" (to my knowledge) body cameras are designed.
His claim for the lawsuit, as I recall, was that the body camera actually recorded and saved everything while it was on and the button only created time stamps in the footage as reference points. So if your body camera was on, but you had not pressed the "record button", and went to the restroom (or another private space) it would still actually still be recording without your knowledge.
Which means it could record private conversations, or maybe even private moments, like if you swung home for a "lunch break".

If the department knowingly was capturing footage all shift, while claiming it wasn't I could certainly see where that's an issue.

However, I worked for a dept that early adopted body cameras, we essentially treated them as-if they were always recording, or at least as-if someone could remote in and "spy" on us.

Thanks for these infos for clarification

  • I feel like he could turn a welfare check into a use of force

Not his fault grandma balled her fists and assumed a fighting stance

  • The guy is a gigantic d bag and probably was useless when he was a cop

  • Had no idea who this was. Now I know all I need..

Just when I thought I couldn’t dislike this dude any more… Holy shit.

  • In addition to what others have already said, he’s kind of a hypocrite to an extent. In a video clip of his I saw recently, he is actually praising one of his former female coworkers for once, saying how she did a great job talking to this troubled teen that was ruining his life. He immediately shifted into his traditional anti-woman cop rants after praising his former partner.

    Dude is a tool.

  • He’s a fucking loser who couldn’t hack it in a department in a tiny little town with less than 10k residents but thinks he’s gods gift to the profession.

When certain people in meetings have opinions, I recall whether or not they follow him, and immediately discount their opinion if they do.

I have also advised multiple female officers to pursue legal action against supervisors that follow him on social media after those supervisors wrote the females up for dumb shit that male officers do every day.

Word is everyone hated him, and still does. Even his fellow karate enthusiasts can’t stand him. If you have enough desire, you can find some pretty funny old stuff on Google where you can watch him get disowned by his own community.

Bottom line? I would have encouraged him to quit or transfer if he worked for me. He is a toxic, cancerous person who ultimately has no home in the workplace.

I am sure there are people out there that believe he should have a sit down with Rustin Cohle.

  • His most recent post is titled “Does black culture belong in Law Enforcement?”

That’s all you need to know about this piece of shit.

  • He complains about other cops especially female cops but at least they’re cops. He’s not.

Worked at a nearby agency years ago. Everyone who knew him said he was a tool.

  • He seems like a narcissist that throws stones from a glass house to cover his own lack of ability. He frequently cites himself as the hothead who created officer induced jeopardy through bad decisionmaking, which is part of why he left the profession earlier than a full retirement. I don't think he is trustworthy and he's very sexist/discriminatory in much-greater-than-"realistic criticism"-quantities that he likes to portray.

The only upside is that he talks about issues officers face regularly and challenges facing the profession today. The downside of that is his views are appealing to "sheepdog" civilian types and "we fight the demons you don't see" noobies as opposed to the actual law enforcement community.

Go ahead and fill that gas tank in peace.

    I got your six.

    sips 108oz slurpee

  • Don't know him, don't care to know him. Sounds like a jag off from your description

Yeah he comes off super arrogant and knows it all But from the posts seems like his actual experience is nothing more then small town PD’s so idk how he thinks he knows jack squat

And i just wanna add that i started at a small town PD so no shame in it at all and no disrespect to those guys but acting like that is out of control

  • I have never heard of this person. In my experience, those who shout the loudest, are generally the least knowledgable on the subject they are talking about.

  • As someone who works in a small town department. He is annoying af based off his videos. Acts like a giant know it all.

Not sure how it true it is. But heard he was barely even a cop before getting fired.

  • I've seen a few of his videos. One from several years ago I agree with a point he made about training with the same uniform you wear on patrol. It makes sense, that's why I also do most of my firearms training in my regular uniform so if shit hits the fan my muscle memory isn't complete shit.

  • He’s got valid points that he manages to make completely unappealing by his horrific personality.

I was trying to find the right words, this is what I was going for.

  • He is funny and controversial. His opinions are all over the place. Sometimes he is spot on, and sometimes he is tweaking out and nonsensical.

  • Worked over an hour away from Chicago in a suburb of 7,500 people, but speaks as though he did 20+ years in CPD.

Couldn’t behave well enough for long enough in the profession to not get himself fired, but now he’s the moral authority on all things cops should be.

Couldn’t resist posting video rants in uniform on his Facebook page, but now shits on cops for making videos in uniform.

He posted a video once about how hanging your arm out of your open squad car window while patrolling is an unprofessional look. You know what’s an unprofessional look? Taking pictures of bodies on a call and texting them.

    He’s a jagoff.

  • He seems like the cop I wouldn't want to work with. Or be associated with.

  • He makes some valid points, but overall is just a blowhard looking for likes. His disdain for female cops is insane. I have worked with great female and male LEOs and crappy LEOs of both genders.

  • Never heard of this douche before and, after reading this thread, I'm gonna go back to not knowing about him.

  • He’s a clown. I didn’t mind him 10 years ago but he got a little bit popular and suddenly went full D-Bag. Right around when he started his Sheriff campaign.

When he first started, he wasn’t bad. He went on rants in his squad and in uniform, but a lot of the rants made sense. I always found it funny though how would he start all of his videos with “It’s Dominick Izzo from Chicago,” and never said he worked for some tiny ass town an hour north of the city.

The Sheriff thing changed him I’d say. That’s when he became really pompous, was all about how he could run the city & county the right way, ran a terrible campaign and couldn’t even make the ballot. Then when voting day came, he didn’t even have the balls to tell his supporters he wasn’t on the ballot, couldn’t make it and ignored it for a few weeks. Strange… but he kept accepting “support” and “donations” though.
