I just finished the latest book from The Iron Tyrant series. I’m looking for another series with a similar feel. Political intrigue, military adjacent, magic, etc. Any recs?
It's not exactly progression fantasy, but Iron Tyrant and James Islington's The Will of the Many have some similarities. The Will of the many is more Roman themed, but there's political intrigue and an interesting magic system.
I'd also recommend Ironbound by Andrew Givler... It's another Roman themed fantasy (and yes I read non roman books, these just kind of all are linked in my head.) It's more military oriented and actually progression fantasy.
These are all great! I’m gonna read them while I’m home for the holidays.
I don’t have TV so reading is my go-to entertainment, so recommendations help always!
Like, it bad ya’ll….this past week I binged the entire series of Hell Difficulty Tutorial, and then went ahead and benched the unpublished books that are available on Patreon. AND topped it off by finishing Iron Tyrant today.
Check out the dreamers throne by Seth Ring.
He just started work on book 5!
Wait he's returning to this series!?!? That's awesome! I thought he had abandoned it since it was at a good end point.
he posted in a AMA recently that he just started work on it! I am amped for it!

I just finished reading it too and loved it!
Will of the Immortals by Jay Krauss felt a bit similar if you haven't read that series.
Codex Alera is considered PF adjacent, but there's a heavy military/political element with plenty of magic.
The Beginning After the End has a heavy focus on magic and the majority of the series involves a major war with political subtext to it.
Codex Alera is high up on my list. Good read.
Oh, I see why you recommended this! I have read the series and you’re right it is great. Jim Butcher is one of my fav writers!
Deryni Chronicles by Katherine Kurtz
I would say a lot of similarities in Ironbound. Also has the plus of being the best prog fantasy books ive read.
