They’re still super dead, but that would probably work in the moment given how much of the Force is based on focus and visualization. Hope they have a really good hiding spot.
Tbf, the Force works through concentration, so the momentary slap in the face this would cause could feasibly grant you a quick respite, for all of one second as the Sith either refocuses or sends a kill squad after you for the insult
Considering almost every instance of Palpatine's force lightning has failed to actually do any lasting damage, I think you need a LOT of exposure to force lightning in order for it to be lethal.
What I liked about the original interpretations for the clones, and what made it far more sinister was the clones were aware, they knew what was going to go down, and what made them so perfect at killing the Jedi was that they didn’t have any malice, thy had no ill intent or evil, they were the same as they always were and that was obedient, and so they followed the order without question because that was the order and it needed to be carried out, and the Jedi felt nothing from it because, to them, they were just following another order, no hard feelings just orders and bam! That is most sinister, that they can be friendly as hell with the Jedi one moment and then the order comes down and it’s no hesitation bang!
And clone wars came along and turned the almost droid-like clones into actual people, so then order 66 wouldn't make sense as there would be countless clones that would side with the Jedi. So they retconned it.
Honestly I like both versions, but after humanizing the clones something like the chips was an inevitably.
Humanization of the clones was already present from the earliest Clone Wars novels, like The Cestus Deception and MedStar, even prior to the release of Episode III. The narrative that they were in on Palpatine's Jedi Purge plot since the beginning was unique and exclusive to Battlefront II and was contradicted by other works in the original EU as well. But it is well-known among fans because of that game's popularity. And if every clone had been harbouring this premeditated murderous intent for years, that would be malice even if it isn't personal, so that premise was always shaky.
I feel like it would’ve been more gut punching if they just, like a switched it flipped, one moment they are just fine and jovial and the next well… orders are orders and the Jedi gotta die. No chip needed they just received the order and so had to turn in them, showing their total indoctrination by the kaminoans inducted into them, the republic above all else. They received th order and regardless of past friendships they had to die. Would make those who rebelled even more interesting and stronger of will rather then this brainwashing narrative.
I think the chip makes it clearer that the clones were victims too. It also highlights the juxtaposition with the droids and how the entire war was a stage play with real victims.
Yep! And I like the sinister idea of them just not changing at all, that this is truly who they are down to their core, they’ll be friendly as hell to you one minute till the order that your a traitor comes in and they put you down no hesitation.
It's not original at all, that's just OG Battlefront 2. That explanation is contradicted by several earlier entries all across the EU.
The Clones being controlled in some way was almost always implied, although specifics were rare and rarely consistent.
TCW making the inhibitor chips (which was set up long before the Disney merger BTW) the reason for the betrayal isn't a retcon at all, it's just the most recent and fleshed-out iteration of a plot thread that's been around for literally over two decades at this point.
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
gets force electrocuted through the hologram
Considering that he can force choke someone just through the hologram getting electrocuted isn't much of a stretch.
Be funny to watch someone just turn off the hologram mid attack

Still think it’d be funny 😏
Put your hologram call through a VPN? Or use a hologram to talk to the hologram?

The clones were always fighting for the republic. Order 66 was an order to kill the Jedi because the council has turned against the republic.

"Execute order 66"
"I'm sorry, but that's master Yoda. I rather not die trying to shoot him."
"Execute order 66"
"Get the f*ck out of my screen! I am trying to follow Master Plo Koon!"
"Execute order 66"
"Sir, we are transporting Maul here. He's dangerous and clearly not on your side. Having a jedi like Ahsoka nearby will secure our safety."
"Sir, Maul is a Sith Lord and Ahsoka isn't even a Jedi anymore so Order 66 does not apply to them"
"New phone who dis"
"You're not my real dad"
Won't justify This genocide We aren't gonna turn on the Jedi!
Won't take their lives They're on our side Why would you want to cause a great divide?
Fight the conditioning!
